Samsung Galaxy A27 and A37 Compared Which Mid Range Phone Offers Better Value

We compare the Samsung Galaxy A27 and Galaxy A37, two mid-range smartphones. Both have similar plastic frames and 6.7-inch OLED displays with 120Hz refresh rate. However, the A37 offers better water resistance (IP68 versus IP64) and a significantly brighter display at over 1900 nits. The A27 is splashproof only. Other differences include processors and cameras. This comparison helps you decide which phone to buy.

Hey, what's up guys? Will here for GSM Marina and welcome to our head-to-head series. Today we're comparing Samsung's Galaxy A27 versus the Samsung Galaxy A37. As the A27 has just launched, the price between these two phones is not so different. So, is the Galaxy A27 worth considering, or should you go straight for the higher tier model? Let's compare our review findings head-to-head and find out. As two Samsung mid-tier mid-rangers, the A27 and A37 shouldn't be that different, but there are quite a few things to consider. Design-wise, they're nearly identical. That's true. Both phones are about the same size and weight and have a plastic frame and flat back made of Gorilla Glass Victus Plus. However, the

A27's ingress protection isn't as good. It's rated IP64 versus IP68 on the A37. That means the A27 is only splashproof, while the higher tier model is made to withstand a full dunk in the water. The two phones have about the same 6.7 in OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus Plus protection. However, the A37 screen is considerably brighter. We measured up to over 1900 nits in automatic mode, measuring a small portion of the screen, while with the A27 maxed out at about 1100. Both phones have adaptive refresh rates, able to dial down from a smooth 120 Hz down to 60 Hz when idling to save energy. And while the previous model had a notch for the selfie cam, the A27 has a hole punch

cutout, just like the A37. There's no support for HDR video playback. Either way, when it comes to audio, there's a difference. The A27 has just a single bottom firing speaker, while the A37 has stereo speakers. Compared to the A27, the A37 setup is louder with a loudness score of very good and its sound quality is cleaner and richer. Let's have a listen to compare. Absolute beginners. The A27 does have something that the A37 doesn't. Expandable storage via micro SD card. Otherwise, both phones come with 128 or 256 gigs of UFS 3.1 storage on board. Another difference is that the A27 has a sidemounted fingerprint reader

built into the power button, while the A37 has an optical under display reader. Both of these phones have the same software experience, 1 UI 8.5, on top of Android 16. If you'd like to find out more about 1UI 8.5, you can check out our dedicated video. And for software support, Samsung promises six major OS updates for either phone. There is a bit of a difference in the chipsets though. The Galaxy A27 uses the same chipset as last year's A36. It's a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 from Qualcomm. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A37 runs on an Exynos 1480 made in-house by Samsung. In benchmarks, we do see slightly higher scores from the A37. So, it is a bit faster than the A27, but not by that much. In the end, both phones are in roughly the same ballpark

performance-wise, and neither phone demonstrated much thermal throttling in our stress tests, as expected for devices with a relatively modest chipset. Both phones have a 5,000 mAh battery, but the A37 has the better battery life, earning a higher active use score in our tests. Still, the battery life is decent either way. Charging is a clear win for the Galaxy A37, rated at 45 watts versus 25 watts on the A27. The A27 is considerably slower, taking nearly 90 minutes to charge to full, while the A37 shaves off about 15 minutes from that number, which is decent, but still not blazing fast. And now we have the

cameras. On the back, the Galaxy A27 has a main cam, an ultrawide, and a macro camera. The A37 has a very similar setup, but its main cam has a larger sensor and its ultrawide is higher res at 8 megapixels. During the day with the main cameras, we see that the A37's output is sharper and more detailed. It also has a wider field of view than the A27. When using two times digital zoom, the A37 again has the advantage in detail. On the ultra wide end, the A37 will give you a bit more detail, as well as wider dynamic range in certain scenes. Low light photos from the main cam are decent either way, but the A37s are consistently sharper than the A27s, so

slightly better overall. With the ultra wide at night, neither phone does a great job. Selfies come out good from either phone. The A37 seems to have a slight advantage in dynamic range with high contrast scenes. Now, let's have a look at selfie videos taken with either phone. The A27 is limited to 1080p, while the A37 does 4K, and not only that, it's some of the best footage you can get from a front camera. Otherwise, both phones can do 4K at 30 fps with their main cameras. However, the A27 doesn't have stabilization in this resolution, while the A37 does have EIS in 4K. Quality-wise, the A27's 4K

footage is on the soft side. The A37 has the edge in sharpness and detail, and there's more contrast and saturation. Even in 1080p on the ultrawide cameras, the A37 has wider dynamic range and slightly better sharpness. And in the dark, the A37's main camera footage is again sharper. So, there you have it. The Galaxy A27 versus the higher tier Galaxy A37. Both phones have the same design, a very similar display, and the same software experience. The camera setup is about the same, too. The Galaxy A27 has the advantage of micro SD expandable storage, and its fingerprint reader is sidemounted if you prefer that. With the Galaxy A37, you get better ingress protection and a brighter display with an underdis fingerprint reader. There's stereo

speakers. The battery life is a little longer and charging is faster. The camera quality is better overall, and there's support for video stabilization in 4K and awesome 4K selfie videos. In the end, there are plenty of advantages for the Galaxy A37. And not only that, the price isn't even that different, at least at the time of this video. So, overall, unless expandable storage is your priority, we definitely recommend getting the A37 over the A27. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you on the next one.
