the hardwood and we have a hard to swallow result in North Texas if you back that team. Stunner to open up week five. How about what we saw from the Bucks? Who saw that coming? Let's get right to it cuz it is finally final on Thursday night football. Dak Prescott and the Cowboys hosting the Bucks. The Bucks still looking for their first win of the season. And how about Prescott here? Opening drive first and 10 drops back straight up the middle to George Pickin. So this offense starting out strong. And then later in the drive, they go to the ground. Javvonte Williams into the end zone. Cowboys take a 7 nothing lead. Second quarter, same score. Second and goal for the Bucks.

And it's the undrafted free agent. Not a backup anymore. Jaylen Daniels. Short pass to Bucky Irving who runs it in for the touchdown. Baker Mayfield, his teammate on the sidelines, taking it all in, cheering his team on. The game was tied at seven. Third quarter, Bucks down 10 to seven. Irving gets the ball in the back field and somehow through all of that net does this. 72 yds filled to the house. Tampa Bay Bucky. Look out. Putting it in. Oh, not quite to the house. Sorry. Wanted to take it to the house, but don't worry. We're going to the house on the very next play because Ametha's about to get it. The handoff. He takes it in to the outside

and the Bucks take a 14-10 lead. Next Cowboys drive. Third and three from the 27 and Frescot looking for Ryan Fanoi, but it's picked off by Yaya. The Bucks defense coming up big. So all of a sudden, this is about to get really interesting. Ensuing Bucks drive, second and 14, Daniels, I mean, he just looks comfortable. He looks confident. And when you got a wide receiver that wide open, I guess you have to be Tez Johnson. 64 yd gain. Bucks threatening. And of course they go to Irving again. Up the middle. Bucks jump out to a 21-10 lead. They are rolling headed into the fourth quarter.

Cowboys down 24- 10. Jack Prescott trying to claw their way out of the hole. Finds Pickkins who leaps over the defender for the 20 yd gain. Nice play by him. Good job holding on to it on that it hit on the way down as well. So Cowboys trying to get back in it. Prescott to Pickkins in the end zone. He goes up and gets it. Watch this catch. Cowboys down 24-6 after a failed two-point conversion. Next Bucks drive. Third and eight from their own 37. And Daniels, oh, looks for nearly intercepted. That was going the other way. Hold your breath because this thing is about to get really interesting. He's going to want that one back. The Cowboys take over. About three and a

half minutes to go. Prescott to Flenoi makes the catch this time. Turns around. 26-yd gain. The Cowboys cross midfield. But they're going to need even more later in the drive. Still 24 to 16. Under two minutes to go. Prescott off the hands of Jake Ferguson and intercepted. And that is all she wrote. The Bucks take over. joined by the host of This Is Football, Kevin Clark, to break down this week five result. Kevin, what the hell, man? Nine and a half point favorites and going up against an undrafted rookie free agent quarterback. The Cowboys lose at home. And candidly, this could have been worse in the final score. What went wrong for Dallas here?

Everything. If you lose your get-right game, you're the get-right game. And that's that's something nobody in Dallas wants to hear right now. But this was a sloppy football team. They missed 14 tackles before a late run there when they were trying to get back in the game. Dak Prescott was uh two of 12 against that Tampa Bay Blitz. The offensive line didn't hold up. They seemed confused. Obviously, CDI Lamb's injury had something to do with that, but this was a sloppy football team. They couldn't tackle in space. Bucky Irving when he was out there was running wild. This was a complete disaster in all three phases. I mean, talk about special teams with the fumble there. So, this was as disastrous as it gets.

And this is I believed in frankly both these teams coming into this season. But after what I saw from Tampa Bay for the first month of the season, I'd written Tampa Bay off. I'd written Todd BS off. I'd written this defense off. And all of the sudden the Cowboys solve all of your problems because you go and play them and you show how bad they are. So this is a complete disaster uh for everybody frankly. at home prime time. Uh you assume Dak Prescott can put points on the board against a defense just been stuck in the mud and it simply doesn't happen. Let me switch to the other side of things because you're right, everything went wrong for the Cowboys, but Jaylen Daniels and this Bucks team looked like

a different team than we have seen in the past. What did he do so well in your opinion and what did you see from him to help them get their first win of the season? Well, first of all, he had a clean pocket for most of the night and the broadcast kept talking about how great the Tampa Bay offensive line was playing. Well, there's another side of that, which was that the Dallas Cowboys simply were not generating pass rush. That was simply the what you could see all night. But what was Daniels doing? He was completing short passes really quickly, which is exactly what a young quarterback should do. A guy who was not considered much of an NFL

prospect before he started getting buzz in training camp. This is one of the coolest stories of the early part of the season. Okay, Baker Mayfield has been a disappointment for the first couple of weeks. Obviously, he's going to come back and be the starter at some point, but I loved it. He was completing passes behind the line of scrimmage within 10 yards. I think he threw maybe one intermediate pass all night, couple deep shots that obviously connected. So, I think Zack Robinson, the OC there, had a perfect plan for him. Don't try to do too much, then take those shots when they were opened. I loved everything about this. And then this is this has the chance to be a really cool story because I think Daniel

is going to stick in the NFL for a long time and have a job. Kevin, as much as I'd want to continue to hear from you, and we will, somebody who I want to hear from a little bit more, Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones, here he is after Dallas lost to previously winless Tampa. Extraordinarily, extraordinarily disappointed. uh you really do need to uh get it done when it's there to take and u uh they uh basically were very physical. Uh I thought both their fronts uh was really surprised at how well they ran the ball, how they ran it between the tackles. That's uh that was surprising. And uh we thought if they were going to run it, they'd do it outside and uh thought we'd put it on the quarterback's shoulders,

their staff, their quarterback uh all their players. Uh got a great victory here tonight and uh it was a tough loss for us. Jerry Shotty said before the game, Kevin, we've been hearing some version of that sound bite since 1995 in Dallas. What's your reaction to Jerry Jones there? Uh, I mean, he's right in that maybe they thought there'd be more outside runs. You know, Quinn and Williams is supposed to be one of the best run defenders in football. He missed a bunch tackle, especially in the first half. So, this was an identity loss.

And one thing about the Cowboys is you always thought they were going to be able to score points. Well, we didn't see that tonight. So, the defense that all off season all we said was they had to be average. by the way, they're not average, but we thought they could win a game where they give up 24 points to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have been sloppy the first month of the season. We thought that there were a lot of knowns here. They're simply not happening. And so, I think that's the most disappointing thing for Jerry Jones is he thought he had a team that could put up a bunch of points, could win a game like this, and it was simply too many mistakes. The Cowboys defense is not getting better. In fact,

they're finding different ways to lose. I mean, in the first week of the season, it was soft coverage. they were giving up on his third downs. This week it was missed tackles and letting Bucky Irving run wild. So, unfortunately, instead of getting better, uh we're finding new holes every single week. And that is extremely worrying if you're in Dallas. Gave up 241 on the ground in this one. A lot to figure out for that defense and a lot to figure out when you're looking at the NFC East because you're like, I don't know. Can you make sense of the division right now as a whole, Kevin? No. cuz I'm a sane person and this is an insane division. You have the Philadelphia Eagles who appear to be a franchise in complete tumult. Uh Lane

Johnson obviously uh leaving there one of the best player probably the best player on their roster obviously retires. Um and we'll see what the effects are there. Obviously an incredible career that deserves celebration. Uh however, their offense and Jaylen Herz the last couple of weeks um it's just been stuck in the mud. The defense is playing sloppy. They're they're the new offense is trying to go more under center. It's not working. And so I who knows if they revert back to the old offensive style, if Nick Serani takes more of the reigns. We'll see. Washington obviously Jaden Daniels banged up the last couple weeks. We'll see if they get any better.

They've been sloppy. You have this Dallas team that cannot get out of its own way. And then you have a Giants team that actually looks like the most competent in the division, but they don't have a quarterback. And they have Jameus Winston who obviously is going to be up and down. They've played a couple bad teams. Obviously, Arizona was a great win, but not a great victory when you consider who they were playing against. And so, it is an incredibly bizarre division. I'm still going to roll with the Eagles cuz I believe in the talent here. But, boy, it is it this is NFC South behavior. AFC South behavior type of thing. We don't expect this out of the NFC East.

Sports Center. Here's Todd BS after his first win of the season. Well, we play good complimentary football uh in all three phases. uh starting out and that kind of spurred everything in the first half. I thought we got in there 10-7. We gave up a field goal on one play, but we came back in the second half of Bucky's big run. Thought Jaylen did an excellent job taking care of the football for the most part. And you know, defense played well. I didn't like the drive at the end. They gave him the touchdown for 99 yards, but for the most part, they played hard. They didn't play perfect, but they played hard and they stayed together and we got a win. Scott, when you're 0 and4,

it's all that kind of cast the Paul over the team. What does it do just to lighten the mood around the team and to ease the stress around things to have a win to get that out of the way? I We got some good leaders. Uh we got some good leaders from coaching standpoint and a player standpoint. So, they have a good grasp on the situation and like I said, we lost the first quarter of the season. We didn't lose the second, third, and the fourth. We still got to play those. So, we start the second quarter tonight. We got one win. We got to get three more to go to try to even this thing up. It's a long way to climb out, but at the same time, we're upbeat and if we play this hard and play this effective, we'll be okay.

Got some key takeaways on the defensive end. You talk a little bit about that? That's two weeks in a row. You know, the biggest thing we wanted to create more takeaways and we got two. Uh Yaya got one, Angelone got one. They were timely and they were key and they helped us win the ball game. If you can win a turnover battle, you can win a lot of ball games. Awesome.
