It's startling video showing a baby left alone on the beach while her parents went on a stroll with their three other kids. I'm calling regarding a child that is has been unattended. A baby is probably like 6 months, maybe 5 months. We cannot find the parents. The 911 call was made by a woman who was sunbathing. She told cops she was startled to see the baby napping under a tent with no adult around. Her parents nowhere to be found. Deputies from Walton County, Florida were met by witnesses.
So you guys just found her down there? Yeah, she was like in the little sand, but the family hasn't been around for a while. Yeah, this is the baby right here. You hear a deputy trying to comfort the baby. You all right? Come here, sweetie. Finally, the parents returned. Deputies say they had been gone for about 56 minutes. She was crying. Yeah. Okay. Apparently, it's been You guys have been gone almost an hour. Okay. We lost track of time. Sorry about that.
You lost track of time? Yes, sir, we did. Massive mistake. I get it. I'm sorry about that. The parents were identified as Brian and Sara Wilks from Houston. He's an engineer. She's a healthcare executive. We had her in the tent, so she was covered. Wasn't in the sun. We really take really good care of our children. Say somebody was paying attention and watched the parents walk away from their infant on the beach, and ultimately they could have grabbed the child. Both you and mom are going to get booked in the Walton County jail. You cannot leave an infantile child on the beach for that long unattended. So we are getting charged today.
The couple was charged with child neglect. They've accepted a pretrial diversion program. If they attend a parenting course and stay out of trouble, the charge will be dropped. They've also been banned from that beach.
