Bryce, congratulations on the win. Thank you. I appreciate that. Walk us through the at bat. Tick Scooble, one of the best in the world. Bottom of the fourth inning. Yeah, my first at bat, I fouled that ball up my kneecap and I was like, man, I don't want to do that again. So, maybe I should stay inside the ball um and do less. So, uh less is more. And uh yeah, I was really not trying to foul the ball off my uh legs for sure. So Bryce, I played with your father, Brian Terang, in Seattle 1994, way before you were born. One of my favorite teammates. My question to you is, how confident are you that you can play your

game grinding at bats, bunting, going first to third throughout the series? Yeah, I mean, that's just part of the game. That's how I was taught the game. Um, and I love that about baseball is being able to play and do those little things to help the team win. Um, I' I've kind of grew up where I didn't have much power. I had to figure out ways to help the team win without hitting home runs. And um, yeah, to me it's just part of the game and I think that we should do it even if it's the middle of the season. That's just for me, it's just part of it.

Bryce, congratulation on getting the first one out of the way. What is it feels like playing behind these fan? This is my first time here in a playoff and man, this is loud right here. Yeah, these fans do a great job. Um the whole season really. I mean, I remember a couple months ago I looked at Yelli and I was like, Yelli, we're sold out every game. Like the fans are packed in here. So, it's really cool to see. Uh really cool to be a part of. And then I mean, man, we walked the streets and they're nothing but awesome to us. So, it's been cool. Well, I didn't play with or against your grandfather like Alex did, but one thing I've always admired how you play the game. I mean, you take

a lot of pride in your defense, obviously, but a lot of the highlights that you see in October is offensive highlights. Now, one of the beautiful things about the postseasons, regardless of how you've struggled or you may have not gotten as many hits as you like coming up to a particular point, it's one swing that can change everything. When you come up in this series, are you thinking about what happened last series or it is easy for you to just turn the page? No, no. I mean, I'm trying to turn the page the next at bat or even sometimes the next pitch. So, it's um you know, I don't want my last at bat or the week before to affect this at bat. So, it's just kind of like being in the moment,

trusting myself. Um yeah, to me that's just kind of a big factor of it is just the mental side of hitting is so important just to be able to move on and um go compete. Awesome. Bryce, does this feel different this year against the Dodgers? It's already different winning game one, but what does it feel like to you round two with these guys? Yeah, I mean it feels awesome that this group that we have in the clubhouse. Um I mean on and off the field hanging out, having dinners, playing games. It's been amazing. It's been a I'm very blessed to be a part of this team and then the way

they go out there and compete, how everyone's bought in to what we're trying to do, what we're trying to accomplish. It's it's really cool to see. So Bryce, I asked you how old you were. You must be really excited cuz it took you like 40 seconds to think about it to say he's 26. But you had your star on the mound, probably a Sai Young winner coming up after the World Series. What did you see from your point of view? Yeah, I think uh tonight they were putting up some really good at bats and he was able to be a pitcher and not just throwund and five like he normally does. It's just to be a pitcher, get the

ground ball that he needed to get, turn the double play. Um, and it's really I'm really impressed with how he overcame their quality at bats, the pitch count, just being able to go after him, get the ground balls, and um, yeah, I'm I'm impressed with how he handled tonight for sure. So, your dad was the leadoff hitter and Alex's debut. What did he tell you about him? I mean, that you can share with us on TV right now. Yeah, he didn't uh really share much about his playing career, but he always said good things about all of his teammates. He always loved his teammates. And yeah, I mean, I remember, man, I was you, you might not remember,

but I was really young. I was at UCLA. I think you were training there, uh, taking some reps there. And we, we came and you said hello to us, and I was like, "Oh, man. This is the coolest thing ever." So, my dad's always been, um, really awesome in my career, and he's always talked very highly about the people that he's played with. Thanks. Thanks for making me feel really old, right? Hey, last year things didn't went really well against this guy. What was the experience like in and what you guys learned to be able to compete this year against him?

Yeah, I think uh to play relaxed, play loose. Um trusting our game, trusting the style that we play in and um go out there and compete. And I mean, we showed it tonight. Um guys are a lot more relaxed and not as tense, not as trying to do too much, just going out there and playing their game, their style. They know how to play. Absolutely. Hey, look, man. I got a present for you right here. Hey, there you go. My you my dog, man. My dog t-shirt right here for Bryce right here. You guys would not lose another game if you wear it.

I'll wear it. Bryce, recipients of the My Dog T-shirt go on to win the series 67% of the time. So, you're on your way. It's a 100, man. I appreciate it. It's a 100, man. Appreciate you, man. Congratulations on the game one win and good luck tomorrow against Yamamoto and company. Appreciate it. Thank you guys. Got it. Derek, if I were have to told you this before the game, what would your response have been? The Brewers get four and a third out of the Miz uh and they have five hits. You would have said what?

They would lose the game. That's what I would think. You know, when you have Mizaraski on the mound, you have to win the game. And you would anticipate the Dodgers being able to score a few more runs than that. But hey, look, the Milwaukee Brewers have been playing like these types of games all season long. lowscoring games, not only their starters, but their bullpen has been unbelievable all year, and they showed it again tonight. So, you would anticipate this series being lowscoring throughout. Guys, we were here last year, and last year definitely felt like David versus Goliath. Just from the time we walked into the stadium, the fans, there's a little bit of a swagger. It feels like Goliath versus Goliath. And

look, the Dodgers had a great approach against Miz. got him out of there, you know, four and a third, but we've seen that there will be a residual later on when hitters get to see the pullpit guys for the third and fourth time. So, something to watch. Not so fast, big guy. Look, the Dodgers having they haven't been able to execute offensively. They are two for 22 run score position and the Brewer had the best bullpen in the game. So I would not freak out if I have miss giving me four or five innings because these guys they know how to shut offense down. Well, one formula popular that has worked is if you keep the Dodgers in the ballpark, you have a better chance of winning almost exclusively, Matt, they've hit the ball out of the park for

almost all their runs. So that's formula number one. But I tell you what though, this I know the Dodgers have relied quite a bit on a home run, especially this postseason. But even watching the game because of what they've been able to do in the past, we were sitting there in the ninth inning like soon as they get a guy on, it's like, "Oh, here we go again. Dodgers are going to come back." You just have that feel when the Dodgers are playing. But you tip your cap to the to Milwaukee Brewers. I mean, look, they haven't been able to get past the Dodgers and take it to the next level. And if you want to win a championship,

it goes through LA. So, it's great for them to win one game. They still got three more to go. Had to come back today, too. I mean, three of the four wins against San Diego came after the Padres had scored first. Dodgers scored first today. Dodgers did not have an extra base hit today. Milwaukeee's bullpen was outstanding. And a part of that, the ninth inning guy, Trevor McIll, visited with Ken Rosenthal. Thanks, Matt. Trevor, two on, two out. Mookie hits the ball deep. What's going through your mind? Um, the sound of the bat wasn't too loud, so I knew it was in play. Uh G Mitch with a great read there. Um just keep it to the deepest part of the ballpark. Right

now the bullpen, your bullpen in this postseason, 24 and 2/3 innings, one earned run. Trevor, what would you like everyone to know about what you guys have going? I mean, guys just pick each other up. You know, we love each other down there and do anything for each other. Uh you know, that's just the theme of the last couple years since I've been here and uh we're starting to see it a lot more this postseason. After what happened in last year's NLCS, you guys getting swept. Yeah. What does it mean tonight to win game one?

I mean, one better than last year, right? Got three more to go and we got a bunch of tough pitchers coming up for them. We got Yama tomorrow. See what we got and then move on from there. Congratulations, Trevor. Thank you. Appreciate Matt. Back to you. Yeah, Kenny. Four and two/3 out of the Milwaukee bullpen. No runs, two hits. I hate the old adage, Derek, but it's true and we say it every year. The good pitching in the postseason overcomes big offense. Yeah, they have some nasty guys. You just spoke with McGill, but Ashby from the left side is tough on lefties. I mean, this is a team that I'm pretty sure feels confident when they have the

lead and they're used to, as I mentioned earlier, they're used to playing these lowscoring games. So, it's it's very familiar for them. They look like they don't stress out. They don't put pressure on themselves late in the games and they just understand if they get a lead in the fifth sixth inning in their minds the game's over with. One thing to watch the rest of the series is how Pat uses bullpen against this Dodger. Remember the Dodgers are not hitting right now but they are a smart hitter and they know how to make adjustment. And the more they see you, the better adjustment they make. So let's see how a starter can pitch more inning down the road. So the Dodgers get to face that bullpen too often

because they can make an adjustment pretty soon. Just enough offense tonight. The homer tied it and then in the bottom of the fifth it was the Brewers being the Brewers. Yeah, it's Pat Murphy going back to his college days. A little college ball with Arizona State and Notre Dame. We're going to show you a tape right here on three backto-back pitches. How they put pressure on you. You're going to see a walk right here. He works the count and Pat Murphy is going to create a run basically out of nothing, right? Four pitch walk. Then here comes a sack bunt. Perfectly executed.

Next pitch is a base hit up the middle and Pat Murphy doesn't stop there. He puts a hit and run on which keeps him away from the double play which extends the inning. He throws another 10 or 15 pitches which allows Scoo to get out of the game in the fifth inning and doesn't prolong to the sixth or seventh. I mean, that's why the Milwaukee Brewers are able to win games like this. You know, everyone always talks about small ball, small ball. It's not small ball. It's situational baseball. That's what they play. You get runners on, you move them over, you hit and run. You're constantly putting pressure on the defense. You're forcing the pitchers to throw more pitches. As you mentioned,

this is this recipe for success that they've had, not only this year, but the last couple years, but it just seems like now their confidence has grown as a group. And last year, it seemed like they came here, they were a bit overwhelmed by the Dodgers. It doesn't look that way this year. I absolutely agree with you. And let me tell you, they know in the back of their mind, guys, we facing good pitching. So, we need to execute those small opportunity that we get. That's what they have been doing all year round. That's why they lead the lead on wins during this season because we don't have many guys with the that go for the long ball, but we have many guys that know how to play the small ball.

You know, I paid attention early in the game, especially G, what you mentioned about the Brewers kind of getting slapped around here last year. They were overwhelmed. Who wouldn't be against the Dodgers, but what I like to see is they were down 10 and they came back and answered the call. They're 4- one this year, trailing from behind in the postseason. So, that's a big mental advantage, but the Dodgers are relentless and they have Yamamoto coming tomorrow. Don't get so excited. There's a lot of series left here.

Let's talk about what Jacob Miseroski was able to overcome, not only tonight, but in game one against San Diego. Four innings against the Padres. Brewers won anyway. Four and a third tonight. Brewers won anyway. Interesting breakdown on his four seam fast. Usage up, Felo up, effectiveness not as much. Well, you know, the telltale sign for a great pitcher is it's easy to come out here and pitch well when you're hitting all your spots, you're breaking balls working, but a testament to a great pitcher is how they do when things aren't going well. He didn't have his greatest stuff. Yes, he's throwing 100 miles an hour, but he wasn't spotting

his fast ball. He's falling behind. He threw a lot of pitches early on, but he was still able to get out of it. I think in that second inning when he got the big double play ball from KK. So, it's great to see him come out here, not have his best stuff, and still be able to escape with only one run. I tell you what, I asked for him being a smarter than aggressive uh during the pregame. And I think that's why he that's what he was all night long tonight. He know that he wasn't spotting his fast ball. So, he went back to his breaking ball. He got this strike out, this good strike out in a situation. I mean, he was smart. where he was locating his breaking ball using it and hit an account and that's why he got out of that inning.

Look, he's 6'6. He's got a very thin frame. This is the first time in his career he's going to throw over 200 innings, which is a lot with 30 starts and then you have the playoffs. But for me, if you look at the videos of the last two games, if he can avoid that second inning where he threw 33 pitches against San Diego and 35 tonight against LA, that will convert into going six or maybe even seven innings. Brewers winners in game one. Big day for Wisconsin sports. Packers beat the Bears earlier today. The Brewers are winners in a short turnaround going to tomorrow afternoon. And not an easy task to try to get out of here 20 because this same

Brewers lineup is going to have to face Yoshobu Yamamoto who as we know in the postseason clicks it into a different gear. The boogeyman. And that game's at 400 p.m. You wonder if this is going to be probably closed cuz the shadows will probably be more unhitable than he already is. But look, I'm done talking about Yamamoto. He's basically said everything we need to say. And uh G, what do you think about Yamamoto? Yeah, I mean the thing is the problem for Milwaukeee's hitters is you come out here, you win a close game 2-1 against Scooble and it does not get easier the next day. Yamamoto is arguably the best

big game pitcher we have in the game right now. And it is important for Milwaukee to come out here and try to win tomorrow night. They have to win the games that Miseroski pitches. They have no other choice. If they're going to win this series, they have to win those games. But now they're looking at as we can escape here up two games to none. Something to watch fellas is they not one of these pitchers threw one pitch in the sixth inning. It is unsustainable in a seven game series to depend 12 or 15 outs in the bullpen. The more the hitters get to see you advantage hitters. Yamamoto threw a complete game here in last year's sweep by the Dodgers. Fans young and old enjoying the spoils of a win. Back with Derek Jeter, David Ortiz,

Alex Rodriguez, Matt Vascersian. Let's get to how it happened at American Family Field in game one. Lowscoring pitchers duel and the world champs ready to do battle once again with a team they swept last year in the league championship series. Miz on the mound. Andy Pah the other way. Otani scores and before you could blink. It was one- nothing Los Angeles in the second inning. In the third, same score. And boy, TKO was ornery early on gets Luis Lara swinging. Joey Ortiz, who's had a rough time against him over the years. Six strikeouts through three for the two-time SA Young Award winner. Fourth inning now. Runner at second is big. Miz gets Kyle Tucker to end the inning. Five strikeouts for Jacob Miseroski and four in a third.

Bottom of the fourth. Here's the terang homer that tied it. Second career postseason long ball for Bryce and it's a 1-1 ball game. Fifth inning now still tied at one. Luis Lara picks on the first pitch. Base hit to score what would be the winning run of the game. Of course, we had a lot of canvas to hoe until that point in the end of the night. Ninth inning, same score. Trevor McIll on to close it out with two on a couple of walks. Very uncharacteristic of McIll. He had walked only one in 16 career postseason innings. For a moment, folks thought that Mookie got a

hold of this. Instead, Garrett Mitchell makes the catch and the Brewers claim game one. So, yes, Milwaukee pitching has been outstanding, but if you go back to the division series win against the Braves, what's going on with the Dodgers lineup? Averaging three runs per game, two for 22. You guys talked about this number earlier. This is not the Dodger lineup that we've grown used to seeing. Is it as easy, Poppy, as being able to flip a switch and turn it back on? What do you think's going on? They have to. I mean, it seems like they are all over the place when it comes down to offense. I mean, when you look at team a team like the Dodgers 24 for 222 during the playoff with run and score position, that's hard to believe

because you have the most the smarter the more aggressive the guys that doesn't get out of the zone. Even tonight that they didn't he well they never got out of the strike zone. They swinging a strike. They need to go back to the old days that often need to wake up because they got the pitching. I mean this is the battle of the Titan. Milwaukee had great pitching. The Dodger had great pitching, but with that often, they ain't going nowhere. Yeah, look, I agree, Poppy. And at the end of the day, there's some things to build on. You have to stay away from just home runs is the only way you can score. And you have to diversify your approach. Let's also not forget that

Show Otani for the last two years has been superhuman. He's been instant offense and he's been a catalyst. And right now, because of his injuries, he's a shadow of himself. Here's what I will say. If the Dodgers keep getting four and five looks innings at that bullpen, they'll be just fine. But let me guys, let me ask you guys a question. It seems like if Otani doesn't hit, the Dodgers doesn't go. So Otani need to fix his swing so the Dodger can hit. Is that what it is? Well, I think look, show in a seven game series, Show Itani is probably going to win you at least one game by himself. Usually that's historically that's what he's done. If you take that game away and flip it to the other team, now all of a sudden we

have a great series. And as he goes, the Los Angeles Dodgers goes, the hitters in front of him do better. The hitters behind him are hitting with him on base all day long. So, I definitely think they need showani if we're going to see the Dodgers at full strength. Having said that, you talk about flipping a switch. I don't think it's easy to flip a switch, but they don't have to switch flip a switch mentally because mentally you walk in that clubhouse, I bet you they have the same demeanor as if they won game one because they've been here before. But they do need to execute. They knew to get a few guys on and you guys know as well as anyone. Sometimes all it takes is one hit and then all of a sudden the whole offense gets rolling.

We got to keep this really simple because the Dodgers have kept it simple in this backto-back championship run. They came into Milwaukee to get one win and they have Mr. the Yamamoto there tomorrow to do that. As far as Otani goes, the thing why he's so valuable, you're not just missing power or batting average or running the bases or stealing bases. You're missing all of it plus his presence in the lineup. So, can they win? Maybe you kind of hide them a little bit in the fourth and fifth slot. He did go first to third today, but that's one very hard person to replace. You're going to have the other guys to step up and make up for it. Otani, no RBI's, no extra base hits

so far this postseason. A lot for Dave Roberts to continue in making out. A lineup card here is the Dodger skipper after his game one loss. You can't go into a long series against a team that has the best record in baseball and expect to just win four. Um it's going to be a long series. We knew it coming in and we had our chances, but uh they made plays, pitches when they needed to and uh we just got to reset. We got our guy going tomorrow who um we trust uh you know undoubtedly and we got to win a baseball game.

Look, Dave Roberts has been here before. In fact, he's been here a lot before. There only three managers in the history of the sport that have been to more league championship series than Doc and they're all in the Hall of Fame. No panic on the LA side. Not at all. They've like Jeter said, I mean they've been here before. He doesn't sound panic. He reminds me of Mr. Tori when he would do his press conference. They have an abundance of talent, an abundance of experience. They've been here before. And listen, the Brewers know that these three games are going to be the hardest three games they have to play. And in order to beat the champs, if in order to beat the champs, you got to beat the champs.

Absolutely. I have seen this Dave Robert before. He has been in this situation before. And the thing is that moving forward, all he need to do just continue having his player back, continue supporting them and continue building what they have built throughout the years. They know that they need to hit regardless. They facing good pitching. They had great pitching. Their pitching did their job tonight, but they knew they the Dodgers know that they need to come off and start hitting tomorrow. Especially with Yamamoto on the mount. He's not stressed at all. Not at all. You know, a lot of times when you play in the postseason, especially when you have a young team or young players, someone has to speak up

after you lose a game. I guarantee you no one said a thing in there. It's just business as usual. They've been here year after year. They've been ahead in series. They've been behind in series. They've been expected to win. They've been counted out. And they've always come through. So, they have as much confidence as any team that's played this game in a long, long time. So, business as usual for them. And Poppy, going back to what you said, I actually think that tomorrow's game, tomorrow afternoon's game is more vital for the Brewers to win than the Dodgers. Cuz if the Dodgers win one, they go back home for LA. They say, "We might not come back to the Brewers." So,

especially because they got to get over that mental hurdle from last year of getting swept. The players will tell you that they don't remember, but trust me, they remember. Let's check in on the prediction markets and what they have to say game trend sponsored by Poly Market. And the Brewers by virtue of winning game one are now the favorites to win the series. Whoa, that's it. I mean, it's a decent number. They went from what? 47% to I have to buy in on that. Okay. From 41 to 47%. The ALCS begins tomorrow night with two of the best teams in the sport. Small payrolls, long postseason World Series droughts to

be specific and a couple of teams that were familiar with one during the course of the regular season. In fact, the Rays won five of six against Cleveland during the regular season. Three of those, Alex, by shutouts. Who do you like in the American League? I like Tampa beating Cleveland. But give Cleveland a lot of credit. Ramirez with that home run. It was a golf shot and the ball almost hit his ankles. But look, this Cleveland staff struck out 75 White Sox hitters and 21 on the clinching game. I bet you have steak dinner, Poppy, that they will not strike out 75 hitters.

You never paid for dinner your whole life. I got to tell you, it seems like Tampa is a team to be in this American League division champion. But I got to tell you, it seems like Cleveland goes the way it all depend on how Ramito hit. Mhm. Because you, if you look at that series, he went 0 for six the first couple of game, but then he got caught up on fire and he went 5 for 12 with two bombs and seven RBI's. So if Ram continue, huh, I think they will have pretty good chance to beat Tampa. So you're going with Cleveland. I'll tell you later. I'll tell you. I'll let you know later, man. Tell us after game three.

Yeah. I'm not a magician. I tell you, you know, we talk so much obviously because we're doing this Milwaukee Brewers, Dodgers. We talk about the Brewers. Tampa's almost a mirror image of the Milwaukee Brewers in the American League. They put the ball in plate. They don't strike out. Keep an eye on Drew Rasmusen. I mean, we're here talking about Miseroski and Scoo Yamamoto, the entire Dodgers pitching staff. What he was able to do to the Yankees last series and what he's done all year. He's a fun pitcher to watch who's capable of dominating. And we got to give our boy Junior Camroero a lot of props who's one of the top five players in the game. But Matt, if you take a step back, look what's happening here. Is a beautiful

thing is you have the Dodgers who are the giants of economics, right? Over a billion dollars in revenue. But three teams right here, the Brewers, Tampa, Cleveland, and the Socks all in the bottom half, if not the bottom third, but because they've drafted well, they develop kind of what you were doing with the Marlins, Jeet, you got to celebrate those teams, too, because they're doing great work and they're still alive. I absolutely agree with you and I got to call Camero American best secret. I mean this kid man the past couple of year he has been dominating the league. He went back to back season with 40 plus home run. I mean this kid is no joke. He is

intense. He is aggressive. He have been playing and supporting this offense all day every day. And this is another player to watch this series. And Poppy, how do you compare his bats speed because you said something to me that really blow blew me away. I tell you what, during the uh worst baseball classic, I was watching the whole Dominican team hit and this guy when he sw the bat and that bat in practice, his bat was the loudest. I mean, he hit the ball with such a great speed and that's why I'm not surprised that he hit 40 this season. Again, climate control in Tampa. Hey, they are undefeated when they get that shirt, man. I'm trying to tell you it's a lot of hits. That's cuz you give it to both teams.

Oh, well. You're right. I give it to the umpires, too. How many My dog t-shirts did you make for this series? Did you make seven? Is this serious? Thousands and thousands of it. Okay. Hey, Diego needs some diaper, man. Diego needs some diapers. The My Dog t-shirt indicates how many games you think it's going to go. If you brought seven with you or did you bring five or six? Just going in seven. I just told you I brought a thousand. So, I'm going to start selling it outside. Also, we're going to see him. Everybody at Stenny's Ale House is going to be wearing a My Dog t-shirt tonight around town. We're going to take a break. When we come back,

it's on you, man. It's on me. Beer's on me. And on the way to a win. Oh, look out. Okay. QUIT. Bernie Brewer imposes his will from the back. my dog booty from the back and uh from the vault. Before we go, there Seattle. So, the big mystery behind this number one overall selection tape that we've seen a couple times with Alex uh beyond the El Debar haircut. Who pushed you into the pool? Maddie, I don't know who pushed me, but I'm glad I didn't go in cuz I don't know how to swim. Dominicans, we don't know how to swim, Poppy. So, I'm glad that I didn't make it. I think we finally do we have an answer to this mystery? Did we finally identify

who pushed Alex into the pool many, many years I knew it was Poppy. I knew it. Hey, we were too busy playing baseball. That's why we don't know how to swim, though. My bad, though. My bad. I have nothing to say. There's nothing to say to that. I think we need to see the shot one more time because I don't know what Poppy was even wearing. How did he get an invitation to the party? I got my Bahama Pyama shirt right there. Nobody pushed anybody into the pool here. Uh it's going to get chilly next weekend. By the way, have any of you guys been up into the chalet? Into Bernie Brewer chalet up way up high.

No, but we would love to. I think I probably put run the Speak for yourself. Invitation is out. I had a brilliant future. Why I got to get on that? That thing's dangerous. How about if I can just continue going straight up and endo in center field? That ain't happening. I ain't going there. I think we should do it. Actually, all the stuff they do to you on AI, you might be up there tomorrow without even knowing. I know, man. I know. AI is going crazy. Hey, Matty, in all seriousness though, you've been bragging about this place for a while. Incredible atmosphere right here. Incredible.

Good time. Brewers take game one. Kevin Birkhard back tomorrow for game two for Derek Poppy.
