the same, and I try to find my way and learn from the darkness. We're starting this Sri Lanka series a few days early because we want to show our crazy travels really begin from the moment we finish packing our bags. All three of us live in different parts of the world, like Patti, who works as a primary school teacher in Chiang Mai, Thailand. G. Your driver is nearby. Okay, agreed. Okay, it's that time again. Good. Keys. I took my keys. Yes. Yes, I took my keys. Yes. So, everything is as usual, uh, a Yes. Every journey is always a little scary at the beginning, the unknown and all that. I'm going to the airport for local airlines. While I was heading to the

airport for my flight to Bangkok, Lena was waking up on the other side of the planet in Bogota, Colombia, preparing for her huge journey. It's 4am here in Bogota, it's cold, and I'm about to hit the road: Bogota- Orlando-London- Colombo, and I'm really excited to meet up with Ty in London and then Patti in Colombo. So yeah, it's super exciting. Today is one of those days when you wake up with that horrible knot in your stomach. You see, today I'm not just going to Sri Lanka. I know that after this trip I will not return home. Of course, my family went with me to the airport to see me off and give me one last hug. But after a bunch of tears, I really felt like I was ready to start this adventure. Unlike Ty, who, of course, was not ready at all. Damn, damn, damn.

I have to leave for the airport in half an hour, and I still have to finish packing. Why do I always leave everything to the last minute? We've been preparing for this trip for months, waiting for it for a long time, and yet we're packing at the last minute. I have to hurry. Okay, episode four. I have my backpack. Well, let's go. With my backpack packed, I finally walked out the door, with not a minute to spare. So I rushed to the airport, hoping to get through security without any delays. Okay, guys, I just passed the inspection. Now I'm heading to London. Unfortunately, I just had to say goodbye to my girlfriend, my beautiful, incredible girlfriend. But on the bright side-I'll meet Lina, and I'll also see Patti. So I'm really looking forward to it

. So, the first flight on the trip to London However, I decided to make my trip a little more comfortable. So I planned to spend the night in Bangkok as a stopover. This will give me plenty of time to relax and even pop out for a glass of beer on Khao San Road, but only for one. Cheers. Good old Khao San Road here in Thailand. Just hanging out with beer. It's cheap, you look around and watch the dreamy travelers. They have just arrived in Bangkok, or, like me, it is just a transit point for tomorrow's journey onwards. So, yeah, I'll probably go rest after this, because like I said,

tomorrow is a big day, and I hope Ty and Lina have a peaceful evening, wherever they are. Patty behaves responsibly. Okay. Unlike Patti, who was smart and got some sleep, I took advantage of my long layover in Orlando and ventured outside the airport to meet up with an old friend. It's me. My stop proved to be a little less peaceful than Patty's, especially when it came to drinks. After nine incredibly fun hours in the US with Misha, I had to head back to the airport to head to London and meet up with Ty.

I love you so much Well, friends. I arrived in London. I have no idea where to go, but I will find the cheapest way to get to London and meet Lina. Okay, it turns out I'm not quite in London yet, and I still have an hour to travel by train to the city itself. So, this is this train. Yes, I'm officially in London, guys. Lina says she's in a pub near Liverpool Street station. I finally found the right place and managed to bump into a familiar face. He is here. How are you, dude? It's okay, dude. I was just about to meet Lina. That's why I filmed it. Do you want me to film you coming in? Oh, yes. That would be ideal.

I'm already recording. Okay. Well, let's go. Yes, it was very nice to meet Lina again, because it's been a year since our last episode. Of course, we immediately started drinking beers with Karl while we chatted and shared travel stories. And we ended up visiting not just one pub in London, but many others. And the drinks did n't run out. Monday evening. You are with us in spirit, friend. , my friend. Patty, come on, buddy, you're close. You're already on our street, dude. Luckily, Karl let us stay at his place around the corner. And, as you can imagine, we did n't feel the best when we had to say goodbye the next morning.

Cancel subscription for public sector employees. budget snack and subscribe to Karl and travel and head towards Heathrow Airport on the London Underground. Meanwhile, Patty woke up refreshed and sober in Bangkok. Here we are. The day of the trip has arrived. Luckily, I was a good boy last night. I went to bed quite early. I can't tell you how annoying it is to fly long distances when you're hungover, or incredibly tired, or both. Traveling to a new place usually puts your anxiety level at its highest because you're flying in a metal tube in the middle of the sky to a country you've never been to, and you're already nervous.

You don't need a hangover and exhaustion on top of that. Otherwise you might just go crazy. Hmm, my excitement is gone. I'm just thrilled to be going to Sri Lanka today. Yes. Am Well, there you go. Sri Lankan Airlines, Sector W. Great. Always the farthest terminal. Like, this is sector A, and I'm in W. Hello. Excuse me, taxi. Hello, luggage. See you in Colombo. Here is my plane. Greetings. Thank you. Beautiful, chic places. I'm out of place here. Hello everyone. So, I'm at the window.

Sorry. Oh, we have TVs and everything. Are you one of those people, or are you like me, who just lightly presses the button, then waits 5 minutes and presses a little more. It wasn't long before my plane took off and I headed to our island destination. Flights go by so quickly when you have a great seat, delicious food, and an interesting movie. And a few hours later, I looked out the window and saw the stunning coastline of Sri Lanka for the first time. And it made me wonder how the guys were doing with their flight. Our Sri Lankan Airlines flight will take significantly longer to Sri Lanka than Patty's flight. And we regretted not following his advice the night before. I have constant problems on the road.

Oh no, dude. But after watching movies and eating delicious food, we quickly got used to it and fell asleep for the rest of the flight. And after 10 hours we finally arrived. We did it. Although we are a little "dead" inside. We are exhausted. So, we just went through immigration and we were just talking about how it was the fastest we've been through in a long time. So, we head to baggage claim to pick up our things, and then we'll go outside and find Patty. Okay. There are two types of people at baggage claim. There are those who wait here on the sidelines, and those who stand right next to the tape and block everything. What type do you belong to? I see him. Can I try to hide just fits casually.

Season four starts now. How are you feeling, buddy? It's hot. It's insanely hot I changed the climate. line. I am exhausted. I have n't slept since last Wednesday. It's Wednesday. So, after days of fun but exhausting travel, we all We jumped into a cheap local taxi, but of course, Ty had the same problem as always. How are your legs, can they barely hold on? We also saw Sri Lanka and its crazy traffic for the first time. We had to check into our hostel in downtown Colombo, but it turned out to be great. Although some of us were still a little "rusty."

Luckily, Patty had a lot more energy than we did, and he ran out and bought us some kottu-a staple here in Sri Lanka, consisting of sliced roti bread, vegetables, and eggs. We also opened our first Sri Lankan beer with friends we met at the hostel. We spent the whole day chatting by the pool because we hadn't seen each other in over a year. And of course, within seconds we were back to being that goofy trio you all know and love. And when we saw the sun setting, we ran to the sea to catch our first tropical sunset together. Heat. The next morning we had to be patient and go through a rather long and tedious visa extension process.

Most get 30 days after arrival, but we need more to look over everything. And this was our only chance to get everything done. And, to be honest, it was a real test. But we want to show you, because if you're going for longer than a month, you'll definitely have to go through this tedious process, just like we did. So, we just found out the cost of visa extension for each country. And it seems to be different everywhere. Here I am, for example, paying 20 dollars with pennies. United Kingdom. Mary Kingdom. She also has double The most expensive. No, the most expensive is Tanzania. There's 200 dollars. We were sad to hear that all this trouble may be a thing of the past due to the new visa rules, but don't take our word for it, it's

better to check for yourself, because you definitely don't want to pay fines for overstaying. After getting our visas and spending half a day, we decided to return to the hostel to relax by the pool and escape the midday heat. Along the way, we met several interesting travelers, with whom we eventually went to have dinner. And in the evening at the hostel we opened a few beers. And pretty quickly we wanted a sequel. We decided to go see the nightlife of Colombo. We are going for a walk tonight Where are we going, Kevin? We are going to a party for travelers. This is in the Chila Room. Very close.

Rs 100 and a "buy one, get one free " promotion from 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM. You can come in shorts and flip-flops. Oh yes, Leno, introduce your new girlfriend. This is Gabby from Argentina, our Latin American. You like their dancing, right? We love looking at them I think Ty and I will just drink and watch them dance the night away. Kevin was a really cool guy and the club we went to was actually pretty good. The only problem was that we were the only visitors in the entire establishment. So we had a few drinks in the hope that the club would fill up with people.

Luckily, the bartenders made a spicy mango cocktail based on a local Sri Lankan liqueur called arak. Arak is made from local coconut palms. And when mixed with mango and chili, it turns out quite strong, most of us really liked it. Oh, he doesn't like it. He does n't like it. About an hour later, the club was still empty. And even though Patty was a little tipsy, Ty wasn't even close to joining me on the dance floor. But we did what any other Latina would do. We danced all night long. We were all pretty hungry afterwards and Kevin recommended a great place with a nightcap where we had spicy catfish and chicken and leek catfish which were simply incredible. Despite the lack of people, we had a really fun night. And the next morning, with our

souls, dignity, and of course, hangovers in desperate need of cleansing, where else could we go but to Colombo's most historic temple. We must take off our shoes before we enter this holy place. The Gangaramaya Temple is an explosion of color, and the unique blend of Sri Lankan, Thai, and Chinese architecture was something none of us had seen before. Local students strolled through the grounds, and we just quietly followed and watched as they made offerings and prayed at the many historic Buddha statues and stupas. Hey, Leno. They don't serve coffee here. This is quite sad. The entrance fee of just over $1 was well worth it, and it even included entry to the adjacent temple grounds on Lake Beira. So guys, we are now in a new temple overlooking

this beautiful lake. We're going to inspect it. When evening came, we decided to head to the local recreation area on Galle Face to explore further. At that point, Colombo really impressed us. And it definitely wasn't just the big, crowded city we imagined it to be. Guys, Colombo, this city is growing. As you can see, there is a lot of construction going on here. This is thanks to large Chinese investments. So come to Sri Lanka quickly, friends, because the city is developing, and it's very good here now, but we don't know what will happen here later. This is how that area will be, there will be a new city there. There will be restaurants, pubs, everything.

A lot of investment has been made here. Sri Lanka is just developing. Luckily, Colombo gave us an incredible sunset, so we feasted on local street food and enjoyed the unique combination of beach relaxation surrounded by a bustling cityscape. After dusk we had to change hostels. But luckily, Island Host has another location in Mount Lavinia, a suburb south of the city. So, we grabbed a few beers and immediately after checking in, we had a drink with the travelers we met on the hostel terrace before going to bed, because we wanted to reflect on our long journey here and summarize our overall impressions of the country we were about to explore. It's hot here. So, this episode is coming to an end, but we just wanted to thank you for watching.

We hope you enjoyed it. This is a bit of an unusual episode because we don't usually show people coming from all over the world to meet up for a series. So we decided that it would be very interesting, because it is a big challenge for us. So far I am very impressed and surprised. I thought Sri Lanka would be very similar to India because it's so close geographically, but I'm surprised because it's almost the complete opposite. Of course, there are similarities, but not the ones I expected. I find it quite chaotic, but I like chaos. I lived in Hanoi for 3 years, so chaos is fun. Yes. Hmm, it's really bright here, which is cool. The real adventure will begin tomorrow when we take our tuk-tuk, learn how to drive it, and go around the

entire island. We are very excited about this. Yes. And it's very interesting how it will be. I wonder what will happen over the next four weeks. Interesting. And here we are, near the waterfall " Lovers' Leap". And it's true that I love you. Ugh. Look up as if you are colonizing. Lena is doing very well, isn't she, dear? Not sure about that. So, join us next week and see what a real adventure in Sri Lanka is like. Don't forget to like, subscribe, and see you in the next video. And bye. Thank you for watching.
