Today on Girl Chat, soccer moms are being banned from cheering and the latest dating trend, Gasping. We'll tell you what you need to know. Plus, who's taking a ride on the L train? How about you don't do the things that you got to say sorry for? Then the Property Brothers are here. It's Drew and Jonathan Scott. The real starts now. Don't miss another minute. This is our time. It's time to live in Start right now. It's like we got a choice. It's our time to start it right now.
I for one am so happy the week is coming TO AN END. TODAY WE'LL be serving up some great drinks, some great food, and some great girl chat because it's not just Friday. No, no, no, not here. It's Okay, now who's thirsty? ME ALWAYS. OKAY, TODAY WE'RE GOING TO be making some muled cider mold cider that she's not thirsty. I was like, I'm thirsty for alcohol but not thirsty in life. But today we're making mole cider. Okay, so taste it. We're using my cinnamon stick as a straw. THIS IS SO GOOD. VERY. It's very easy to make. First of all, you take a mug and fill it with hot apple cider like this. So easy. I love apple cider this time. Then you take some allspice. You put a little dash in
there. Like that. Stir it up. And then you take the most important thing and put it in. That brown lick. Huh. Pull it up. Stir that up. You add a little cinnamon stick. And then you are on your way for a good time. Cheers ladies. Cheers. Cozy drink. Thank you guys. I like that it's warm. Yeah, it's a cozy drink. It's cozy. Good luck with somebody. Okay. Well, I want to talk to you guys about something.
Okay. I know a person who knows a thing or two about a good drink and that is the Great Gatsby. Right. Now, the fact is the iconic playboy who through lavish parties to try and woo his love has inspired a new dating term called what else? Gatsbying. Have you heard of this? Let me tell you what it is. Gatsbing is when you post something to your social media, like a picture or a selfie, for the sole purpose of having your love interest see it. Oh, ladies, is there something you've ever been guilty of doing at some point? I THOUGHT THIS HAD A NAME FOR a long time called thirst trap. Yeah, it's a thirst trap, isn't it?
No, no, no, no, no. It's different. Okay, so thirst trap is for everybody. Well, thirst trap is when you don't have no body, but trying to So, you put that out there so that the guys that might want to kick it to you can see your picture of you half naked. Yes. Do explain, Lonnie, because I believe this decade we have so many dating terms. Like, I'm just confused. Well, this is when you have somebody or maybe two or three and you're trying to show them, you know, that you're doing other things to make them interested or jealous. Okay. So, would you take a picture with another guy if you're dating someone?
I do it all the time. Okay. You do? Yes. Drink. Yeah. Would you do Gatsby being married? That's what I'm thinking. How would we do that if we're married? Like maybe if your husband's away, your husband's away. You put a really sexy CAN WE SINGLE WOMEN HAVE SOMETHING? WHY Y'ALL ALWAYS TRYING TO Y'ALL MARRIED? IT'S OKAY. WHY DO I have guests? Where's No, but it absolutely works, you know, cuz social media is a fun way to show your husband a different side of you that he doesn't get to see all the time at home when you're playing mom or you're playing wife. So, I think even I could just sex him, you know what I mean? Like I don't have to put it, you know, in public. You what? You don't you
No. Like Adrian knows what I'm talking about. Both of our husbands travel. So when they're away, you make them really miss your sex. No, we're not going there. Lonnie, you can send dirty messages about what you're going to do when they get back. Oh, when you get home. Yes. But I think something I'm sorry, I think it's something different than because publicly showing everybody that you're doing something. I think that turns men on just as much. You know, that's something private between you two. But
like if you publicly, you know, you're at the park and you got on a sexy little dress and you take it for Israel. It's like, yeah, I be like, "Where you at?" And then guys will follow up and be like, "What are you doing tonight?" And you're like out with your girlfriend showing a hot picture of you and your girlfriend wearing hot sexy dresses and it's like, you know, anybody kicking it to you? Anybody was trying to flirt with you, talk to you? I also think there's something really sexy though when as a lady you just feel yourself. You know when you get up, you put a dope dress on, you put you the lights just hitting you, right? You just feel good about yourself. You hit that picture and you're like, "Aw, upload."
Exactly. And you know what? Like many moons AGO BEFORE social media, what we would have to do is try to run into our ex at the club, right? You know, and make them jealous. See, now we ain't got to do that. Now we just go on social media and be like, "Bitch, I'm living my life." All right. And that's it. Living my best life. Okay. I will say I feel like I've noticed when other people try to Gatsby me. Do you know what I mean? Like I can feel it. I can feel when somebody Oh, who is it? I It's not always a positive thing. Sometimes I think people gasp you. I don't know if it's possible.
Can you Gatsby just to try to make that other person jealous? Yeah. You know what I'm saying? I feel like I've seen people like people in my past, my exes, where you see them one way and all of a sudden they post something and you know that's not them. You know that's not how they do. I'm trying to just linger that for you to see. Okay. As a married person, is this Gatsbying? I put up um a video of me doing Pilates and then my husband commented and said, "Looking good, babe. Looking good." No. Um maybe. Okay, let me give a better example. Okay, like let's say the three of us GO OUT. YOU'VE BEEN LISTENING.
I HAVE YOU HERE. It's I'm talking about somebody doing it like to try to like nudge you and just throw some shade in your way. All right. But I you're talking about like for instance, okay, if we were to go out as girlfriends. Yes. Who is someone like name some hot guys that we know? Okay. Idris Elba. Hot guys. Guys, help me. Come on. Kid Harrington. Kid and Michael B. Jordan. This is a odd mix, but here we go.
I just Ela, Michael B. Jordan, and Kit Harrington are all at a uh Fox Television thing, right? Warner Brothers networking party and we all go together. You are wearing a plunging neckline down to here. Boobies are sitting up. Everything's looking real good. And you and Kit are holding drinks like this. And it's a group picture and you're like, "Okay." And you post that picture on Instagram and then Adam says, and Adam sees it and is like, "Babe, you look nice, but like what do you how was your night?" or like just genuinely slightly jealous but more inquisitive of well what were you and kid talking about what was going on you it's it's a
picture that causes the OTHER PERSON TO HAVE BUT FOMO that he wishes he was there with you wearing that hot dress that he wishes he was there but the intention of Tam posting it for Adam to see is really the twisted part that's the part that you know what I mean the tent why is it twisted THAT'S THE GREAT GATSBY that's why they call it the Gatsby used to do it with intentionality to move that person. Is intentionality a word? I think it is. It is when Jeie says it on a Friday. Cheers to that. Cheers to intent. It's in intentionality.
There we go. Now, speaking of dating, if you want to take someone out to a fancy restaurant to impress them, you better check your credit card balance before you book a table. According to the BBC, due to the number of no-shows they've been experiencing, restaurants are now starting to ask customers to pay for their meal in advance. Yes. To ensure that people actually show up. That's right. You have to pay hundreds of dollars when you make your reservation. Some restaurants have even gone as far as to name and shame customers who don't show up. Ladies, is this practical or petty?
This you have to pay the entire meal up front. This is my first time hearing this. I've heard of restaurants that if you are making a reservation for more than six them six or more people, they make you put your credit card down. And I actually like this for multiple reasons. One, I'm lazy. And if I can get out of something that I don't have to go to, I'm not going to go to it. I'm going to make up an excuse and lay down in my bed and be like, "Um, I'm so sorry I can't make it." Or something. And I also feel like I have flaky friends sometimes. And if I put my credit card down on that reservation, all six of your asses is showing up.
This is true. And I will tell you, I'll let my girlfriends know, look, I made the reservation for six of us. My credit card is down, so all six need to show up. See, I'm the opposite. I don't like that. I don't like being forced to eat at your restaurant. Like, I might change my mind. I might want to see food. I might all of a sudden go vegan. I can go straight to a buffet for $24.99, eat everything I want, and pay at the end. I hate that idea. Plus, what if something happens? I mean, what if you have babysitting issues or something like that and then it's like they're supposed to give you a grace period. I feel like after what 15 20 minutes it the reservation give the you know this why I go to
McDonald's cuz I don't have this problem. I like this. That's because it makes me feel like I've committed to something and I need to follow through with my pay the entire meal upfront. Honestly, yes. Especially because I would without having eaten there. I would well if I've eaten there before and I already know that it's a great meal, I would have no problem with this. Especially because you guys know that I end up making reservations for really large parties. Like if my family is in town and it's 15 of us, I have no problem paying the money in advance and then actually going.
Okay. So if there are six people going, yes, they would just pay you their part of the meal. Do you see what I'm saying? Cuz you know my family dividing up check. We got to divide that check up. Yeah, we splitting it up and you adding in tax too. So tax people try to forget about and then it gets awkward to have to ask for that money too. The only thing I don't like I don't mind the credit card being held. My only question with um with them actually making you pay upfront is like you don't know what I ordered. I could have just got an appetizer. Like how can you
charge me hundreds of dollars if maybe we didn't eat that much? Like how do they KNOW WHAT TO THAT'S THE GAME THOUGH. That's how they get they gonna they know that if you put a certain amount of money, you gonna spend that certain amount of money. That's the game. They have to get the money back and I think what and then obviously charge you for the food that you paid for. Exactly. Okay. But there are so many other restaurants that deserve your business at that point. You don't need to be stressed about where you want to eat, what you want to eat. And if it's really bomb, just put your credit card down and secure your
reservation. Okay. Well, when it's time to leave the restaurant, you better make sure to have a quick exit plan. just in case someone won't shut up. In fact, the Independent recently talked about how to avoid the long goodbye at parties. For example, how to dodge people who want to show you all of their baby photos. Oh lord. When you just want to call your Uber, go home and watch Netflix. The article suggests always having a good excuse in your back pocket so you can just duck out quickly. So ladies, how would you ghost out on someone who just won't leave you alone? I don't do a long goodbye. I do a Irish goodbye. I just leave.
She really does. Yeah, she really does. And then YOU'RE ALWAYS LIKE, "WAIT, WAIT, WHERE DID LONNIE GO?" NO. What I love about Lonnie though, she not only comes and leaves early, but she gets the job done. She'll come take the necessary pictures to be able to capture the moments, get the selfie on Instagram, give the hug, say, "Happy birthday, bitch." AND THEN BOUNCE, DO IT. I'm not mad at that. But I have to say, I hate long so much. I just I can't stand it. So now I'm really thankful for Uber or Lyft because I just say whether I've called or not, I'm already like,
you know, say I say goodbye to you and you're giving me a long story. I'm like, "Oh, Adrian, you got to tell me about it tomorrow cuz my Uber's waiting outside. Hello, let's go." Or whatever it may be. She's actually done THAT TO ME. YOU 100% have done that to me. I don't like long, so I probably have. Yeah. You're like, "Oh, but my Uber and then I'm like, "Okay, question for you, Tam. Is there nothing worse than when your significant other doesn't know how to say goodbye?
OH MY GOSH. OH MY GOD. And if they're long, you put your nail into them. Are you like you? We have a little tap like I'm like No, I walk out. I walk outside and then when he's I'm like, "Babe, I'm standing outside. Like just like walk out." Cuz I have realized that if I linger, he's just going to linger longer and longer. So if he actually physically sees me getting up, moving, and walking out, then he actually will he will, you know, Adam would actually text me. So sometimes we just text each other cuz we always have our phones and be like, "Babe, I'm ready to go. Let's go." Or we give eye contact.
You have the ultimate out children. I always use my kids. You know what? I got to go. They need me. Uhoh. You guys, I believe that sound means it's girl chat live commercial time. Okay, ladies, hit your marks. All right, girls. This has been a fun time for me, but now it's time for me to hit the road and get to my side gig. Okay, WHAT A DAY. GREAT SHOW, great work, great people. Good seeing you. What's happening, Munchkin? We are in the middle of a show.
Yeah, we haven't even finished act one. WE GOT like three. We six more segments. Where are you going with your red purse? Guys, I'm so sorry. This is a really important gig to me. I know you'd understand. Uh, I know we don't understand. When you When did you pick up a side gig? And what exactly are you talking about? Hold up. You've never heard of the Arise platform? Oh, Arise. [screaming] Yes, Arise. Maybe I had enough. Yeah. What? Okay, Adrienne, please refresh Lonnie on how Arise works.
Okay. Well, Lonnie, if you want to earn a little cash on the side, you can start your own business using the Arise platform. You mean my own business? Yeah. You can be your own boss and work from home. Just start by visiting arisework fromome.com. Oh, yes. And you know what? Even as a busy mom of two, this looks like something I could definitely get on board with. You got that right, Tam. Arise.
Okay. Do we need the sound effect every time? Sorry. Like I was saying, Arise connects small call centers that are run by people like you ladies from your home to Fortune 500 clients who need your help through a virtual platform via phone, chat, or even video support. Wait, so you might say Arise provides the clients, your company provides the service. That's right, Genie. Who doesn't want to earn extra money to help make ends meet, take the vacation, or pay off debt, all while spending more time with your friends and family? Okay. That's right. So, with that said, ladies, I'd love to chat, but I got to go make that money, honey.
Okay. Toodles. Bye. What the he just went down like Okay, make your money. Hi, this is Adrian. How may I have be of service to you today? Wow, look at her go. Wait, she's actually a natural. I thought she'd never leave. Hand me her drink. Hey, wait, guys. With Adrienne's extra coin, we can fry. Yay. All weekend long, baby. Yes. Cheers. THANKS. Thank you so much. We'll be right back with more girl chat. You're watching the real.
Welcome back to the real. We're having some fry egg girl chat and I think it's time we make ourselves a snack. And today we're going to be making pie chips and dip. The first thing you want to do, you guys, is roll out your dough and cut out some festive shapes like so. Then you're going to sprinkle a mix of cinnamon and sugar onto your shapes. And once that's done, you're going to bake them for 15 minutes at 425° F. That's quick. Right now, okay, here's how to make the dip. First, you're going to combine the cream cheese with vanilla extract.
I love Oh, it smells so good. Pumpkin spice, right, and then you're just going to microwave that for 30 to 45 seconds. Stir it all together. And then it's ready to serve. How easy IS THAT? THAT IS SO EASY. And the presentation is so beautiful. So gorgeous. This is what it's going to look like, you guys. Look at that. All right. So good, Tim. It really, really is. So good. Wow. Well, you know, parents may uh like to bring snacks when they watch their kids play sports. However, soccer association Hamshshire FA in the UK has recently decided to ban parents from cheering and
clapping their kids on at games. The parents are being asked instead to silently wave jazz hands in the air to help reduce anxiety and unneeded pressure on the kids. However, not everyone is cheering the new policy. While some coaches think the silence helps the players concentrate better. Others think that winning, losing, and dealing with pressure is a part of life. Hello. No. Can you imagine? Can I have the audience? Okay. Can we just imagine we're at a game and we're not going to clap, but your child just scored and we're going to do J. This is jazz hands. So, I'm going to say score and just do jazz hands. SCORE. That's terrible.
I mean, you guys did amazing, but you didn't feel the excitement. Yeah. Kids need that encouragement. You guys actually, you know, I'm a soccer mom, right? And I absolutely love it. My husband is the coach of my kids soccer team. They're called the lightning bolts. Nice. And I don't know. I love to get out on that field and cheer on my son like this. I do. I embarrass him. But not only that, I cheer on the other kids as well. I'm like, "Go Aiden. Go Bowden." And I don't know. I feel like it gets them excited about the game. However, we do have the parents sign a disclosure to not talk negative, not talk down to their kids while they're playing the game. And also, yes, also to other children. You don't want they the kids don't want to hear that.
For me, a certain age is good to actually, you know, cheer for both sides. But once you get into the competitive like that, high school, I'm cheering for my team. My Well, you know what I mean? I mean, it's just LIKE BUT I DON'T GO OVERBOARD. While cheering for your team, would you boo the other team though? No, I don't boo cuz it's a high school. Okay. So, I get that. Professional. Yeah. But, you know, professional. I do agree that it teaches kids to first of all like not only u deal with the distraction but it also teaches you to focus. It's so important because even here sometimes we get
excited because our audience is so bomb. You guys are always lit. Always see I feel that's not jazz. But when you come out we still have to think about you know the topics we're talking about sometimes serious things. But I remember um growing up like I went to a predominantly um African-American and Latino school and everybody came out and they had their thing going on. And as Asian parents when the Asian kids like me and like one other were playing the Asian parents weren't really that celebratory. They were just like let's be quiet. Let's not be rude. Let's not, you know, um just distract the kids. But mama Maya and my dad, I love you guys so much. You would be so proud for me and you would know that they were cheered
for me because they would say things like touchdown at the baseball game. Oh lord. So Jana and my name is Genie, but they wouldn't even say my name right. That made me feel good. Yes. And it made the other Asian parents understand. You know what? It's okay to be proud for your kids. It's okay to shout and scream. There's nothing wrong with that. For sure. Yeah. Absolutely. Jazz hands is for Broadway. You know, that's when you do the jazz hands, not for, you know, games. Let's cheer on these babies. Okay, on that note, we have to take a break, BUT THERE'S MORE FRIDAY GIRL CHAT COMING UP RIGHT AFTER
THIS. DON'T go anywhere. Welcome back. We recently received a message from one of our fans in New York asking for advice and we have her on the line now, ladies. Sharon. Hi, babe. Oh my gosh, look at those dope earrings. Brash, fresh, where in New York are you calling us from? I'm calling from Brooklyn, New York.
BK, so what do you do out there? Actually, I work at the Barclay Center. I work for guest services. That's amazing. I've seen so many great shows there. I know. Um, now we hear that you need our help with an upcoming event. What is it? Yes. Um, I'm a 12-year breast cancer survivor and I'm a 10-year ampute due to a terrible car accident. Wow. Oh my gosh. I am a big advocate for breast cancer and I've been asked to recite my poem that I wrote for cancer survivors and cancer patients on the pink runway next Wednesday. And I need a little bit of I mean fashion advice. I was confused as to what to
wear because with the prosthetic, I can't wear everything that everybody else in the fashion show would wear. Okay. So, I'm kind of limited and that's why I was confused as to what I should do. Okay. Got it. Well, you sent us a couple of choices. I'm excited to look at it. Can you show us? Okay. Well, here we go. We're going to look them pull them up right now. You gave us two options. Check that out. So pretty. Okay, so we have a black option and then we Here we go. Sleeve bell sleeves. It looks a little bit sheer like that, which I like that one with the neckline, too. And then your second option.
Let's see. OH, lady in red. It's got a beautiful metallic belt and it really highlights your face and it looks great on your skin. Which do you feel most comfortable in? Um, I feel comfortable in both of them. Okay. Okay, that's most important. You like the red? I don't know. I'm going to tell you right now, the first thing that jumps out to me, I think you're in agreement, is the red. I like the red. Your body, your smile. I love the belt. Yes. How you accessorized it. It shows off your teeny tiny waist. I love that.
Yeah, I love it, too. And Lonnie, what do you think? You like the um What's the I don't understand. They're both great. What's the concern? There's something going on. I don't know. I just feel like with the runway, you should be extra spectacular. Like the runway is something that you want to leave somebody with. Oh, look at that. You know, and I don't know. It just seems so plain to me for the runway is spectacular. Wait, does the red seem plain to you? For the runway, YES. WELL, YOU KNOW WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO?
We're going to give you 500 bucks and you buy something new. All right. too about learning. $500. You're going to rock something. Send us pictures. You know, hopefully it'll be that moment that you've been dreaming of where you're like, I'm going to blow these people away. And we can't wait to see. You going to rock and share. All right. You guys, of course. And don't forget, at the end of the day, people are going to remember the way you strut out and the attitude you have for being a survivor. They're not going to remember what you're
wearing. So, you got this. That's right. THERE'S MORE GIRLS CHAT RIGHT AFTER THIS. WE love you girls. Send us pictures. We'll be back with more of the real. Welcome back to the real. It's time for some more Friday girl chat. It's also time to find out from you, our real fans, who took the biggest L or loss of the week. The votes you cast on our Instagram story will decide who gets a first class ticket on what the L train.
Now, our first Elra nominee this week are two maids who really need to clean up their act. According to the Daily Mail, a woman named Ji Snow hired two maids from Joanna's cleaning service to clean her Brooklyn apartment. But instead of cleaning up, y'all, they cleaned her out of her liquor cabinet. Ji came home to find an even bigger mess. Her liquor bottle empty. And one of the maids passed out on the floor. What? I love it so much. She said, quote, "My spice rack was smashed, my marble coffee table was smashed, and there was chocolate ice cream left on the sofa."
She got chocolate ice cream out and ate chocolate ice cream. This is so funny to me. I'm sorry. Okay. Now, a to make matters worse, Ji had already paid $400 in advance for their services. And when she contacted the company to get her money back, she claims they refused to refund her. Why you don't pay? So, the company claimed that the woman who passed out in her kitchen had been going through quote family problems. Girl, you got more problems than just So, will these made to a mess be taking the L train to the next job? We're going to have to find out. Okay, speaking of alcohol, our next El Crane nominee might have had a too many himself. WMC News in
Memphis, Tennessee, recently did a story about a delivery driver who left quite the surprise on a woman's front porch. The man who was supposed to be delivering packages, whipped out his own package, and proceeded to urinate on the porch. Nah, come on. There he is. The woman who owns the home told the news that she's disgusted and can't even bring herself to clean up the mess. The woman and her husband have filed a complaint with the police department and the United States Postal Service who in a statement said the behavior clearly does not reflect the efforts of the thousands of professional dedicated carriers in our workforce and that action will be taken with that employee. So, will the urinating USP USPS driver
be on the L train this week? Let's find out. Oh my god. DO WE REALLY HAVE TO VOTE? Do we really even have to vote? They're both crazy, but Okay. Are you ready to find out who's riding the L train? Yes, I'm ready. Will it be the maids who got messed up or the disgusting delivery driver? WHO DO YOU GUYS THINK? AUDIENCE, WHAT DO You say the maid. You guys say the maid. SHE SAID BOTH. SHE I AGREE. I take both. Oh, no. You want to have drinks? I'm just saying this maid is mad funny.
Like, who goes to somebody else's house, drinks all she drank the whole health and whipped out the ice cream. That's crazy. I just could imagine myself going drinking up somebody's liquor and then maxing and relaxing. I decide I'm going to have, you know, some ice cream on the person's sofa. Start spilling the ice cream. That is pass out. That's hysterical. Okay. THE URINATING PART. THAT'S THAT'S GROSS. SO GROSS. THAT'S DISGUSTING. OKAY. WELL, let's see who you chose. Who did we choose? Let's see.
Thank you. Jean's very happy about this. It's the disgusting delivery driver. That's right. 65% of you voted for him. So, good luck finding a bathroom now, mister, because you're taking a ride on the L train. We have to take a break, but there's more of the REAL COMING UP RIGHT AFTER THIS. Don't go anywhere. WELCOME BACK. YOU KNOW OUR GUEST, next guest as the Property Brothers on HGTV. And these guys do it all. On top of building, selling, and flipping homes, they just released a new children's book, Builder Brothers, Big Plans. Please welcome Drew and Jonathan Scott. Right.
[screaming] I'm talking about Yeah. Okay. All right. So, Drew, Jonathan, I got it I mean, we should just know these things. We should know this. We should. Okay. So, we all know how talented you guys are when it comes to home design, but people may not know about your other skill. You had an interesting first job at 7 years old, right? Well, actually, we turned seven and my dad said, "Get a job." So, yeah. So, we decided, what are we good at? We have high energy and we're always annoying everybody with all our energy. Let's become clowns. We were professional.
Well, actually, no, we weren't professional clowns at first. We saw an article. There it is there. We saw an article in the paper. It was in the classifides when people used to read the classifies and it said, "Learn to be a clown. Go to clown school." And so, we went with parks and wreck, took the course, learn to juggle, and if you go through the course, they'll start putting you into parades and stuff. And then we started doing it at birthday parties. We at 12 years old, we were making because we did this until we were 12. We were making like 50 bucks an hour. Really? No joke. Well, straight to the candy store.
Well, is it true that you guys were also competitive bag pipers? Yeah, cuz what's sexier than just being a clown? You got to be a bag. Yeah. This is the problem. I had heard way back in the day that girls love you m musicians. Okay. And so I thought, okay, that's great. When you love a musician and nobody thinks that's the sexy instrument. I figured we would never Jonathan would never get a date in his life. And then he's like, "Oh, I got it wrong. Musician. I thought I was a musician." They said magician. So then he became a magician.
Oh, wow. That still didn't help his dating life. So I'd like to point out 40 years old. I'm still a virgin. SO YEAH, THERE'S a movie. I saw in the audience there. He's joking. Okay. Jonathan, you're more of the hands-on guy on Property Brothers. But Drew, do you ever get involved in the renovations? Oh, yeah. I mean, on Brother Versus Brother, the whole reason Jonathan wanted to do that show where we both flip our own houses is because he wanted me to go back to how we used to do it. get hands on because it's been many years since I had gotten hands-on. I
didn't want to ruin my manicure. Yeah. People don't believe like way back in the day, Drew used to do everything, flooring, everything. In like 1996, he broke a nail. Never picked up a hammer. IT WAS TRAUMATIC. I LIKE IT. I do like it, but I don't. Jonathan does for Property Brothers. Uh he does about 45 houses a year. That is a lot of dirty demolition. I don't like that. I'm tired. Oh my goodness. So hard. Now, I know Drew that we saw your competitive side on Dancing with the Stars. That was pretty bomb. So, Jonathan, there's a dance floor right here.
Oh, no. We might have to see that in a bit. But Jonathan, for you, what reality show would you want to compete on? Oh, man. Oh, god. Uh, I think like Amazing Race would be incredible. That's like we would be cuz we travel so much. I know. T Have you ever turned any down or have you know where you're going with this? Anything at all? I know what you're I have been asked to be the bachelor three times. Okay. Have you turned it down? How dare you? Oh my gosh. Yes. That's That would be like my nightmare. I couldn't imagine wheeling 30 women at one time. How do you even do that? I just want to point out you're you're in a room full of dieh hard fans of
the Bachelor. So careful what you say. Well, that figured we should just do our own rose ceremony here today. Well, well, well. By the way, we'll feed you the drinks because I look better every Oh, you're precious. Okay, Drew, what are the common stereotypes of being a HGTV star? Uh, I think the one thing is that everyone assumes in real life we walk around in slow motion with tight jeans on. I mean, that's just for renovation scenes.
Oh, really? I don't know. I mean, um, everybody that everybody know, we all know each other. We have like pajama sleepovers every weekend with other HTV talent. Everyone thinks Oh, you do? I get the invites. Oh, I didn't get the invites. We do know most of the talent. We just don't get to see everyone all the time because we're on the road in a different city filming every 3 months. Oh, wow. And how quickly do you change over houses? Do people think you can do it like in two weeks? Yeah. People watch the shows and they think, you know, wow, a renovation can happen that fast. But keep in mind, you know, so we do anywhere from 13 to 17
renovations simultaneously on the show. So I like in a three-month period, we'll do 17 full-blown renovations. They don't finish in 40 minutes in real life. The time we tell you is the real time for the renovation, but we have a big team. It's a welloiled machine. And then those are just for Property Brothers. We do three to four rooms. That's what we show you on the show, but and we say that on the show, but most people assume that means the entire house inside and out is renovated. There's a different timeline, different budget for the other areas of the house that we typically renovate with the couples.
Oh, wow. I love that. Well, you guys actually just released your first children's book, which is amazing. Congratulations. So cool. What made you want to write a book for kids? It's amazing that kids today love watching design shows or cooking shows, all these different things. And so when we would get these posts from Yeah. we would get posts from parents with kids dressing up as S for Halloween or maybe they're doing their own, you know, diagram for their room. We have kids that walk down the street, four, five, six years old and then they'll be LIKE, "MOM, DAD, IT'S THE PROPERTY BROTHERS, JONATHAN and Drew." And the parents are like, "Who the what?
What?" No way. Like always trying to get in on helping you with the renovation. Oh, 100%. On the shows and they'll even come up to us with plans and they've with their crayons, they've drawn out THEIR THIS IS WHAT I ALWAYS SAY. YOU KNOW, if you're doing a major renovation and there's kids in the family, kids are part of the family and you got to make them a part of the decision-m, too. Even if you narrow it down to safe colors, you have no idea how much it means to let the kids make at least one or two selections because they feel like they're the whole house. It's a scary thing. We are having so much fun with you guys, but will you guys stick around cuz we have so much more.
