Uh, good morning. Good morning, friends, and welcome to a day in the life out at sea. Today, I'm going to be showing you everything I get up to on the cruise ship. It is now day 6 of our voyage from Vancouver to Hawaii. It is now 5:37. We just had our third time change of the voyage. That's how much we've covered out at sea. And I'm ready to have some coffee. So, let's go get some. It's up the stairs we go. And guys, I've made a personal goal on this cruise not to use the elevator once. And so far, I've made good on that promise. So, we're going up eight floors to get to the top.
Well, cheers to myself, friends. I sometimes go and grab a double cup of coffee when I'm at home. I normally have a really large mug of coffee. I often have two. So, this just allows me to be a bit more efficient. The purpose of this video is for me to show you what a day out at sea looks like. So, I'm going to show you everything from the activities to the meals to the downtime to everything else in between. And I'll try to keep it as realistic as possible. Like, I'm going to keep my routine of exercising and my meal times and doing some reading and so on. But I'm also going to kind of turbocharge my
day a little bit and show you the different entertainment and activities you can get up with. So, it's going to be a little bit more of an active and social day than I normally would have, but that's going to be a fun challenge for me. So, I'm excited about that. But to begin with, some first sips of coffee. Woo! It is windy out here this morning, friends. But part of my morning routine after the coffee is to get out there and to get my popsicle sticks moving. I find this is a great way for me to warm up. This isn't my main workout, but I would describe this as my warmup. All right, guys. It's 6:30 now and I'm just heading back to the room. It started off looking like we're going to have really nice weather again
today, but I'm not so sure. There are some there appear to be some storm clouds rolling in, so it's going to be an interesting day. It's 6:30 a.m., guys, and I'm back in the room, and my plan is to do a workout program that's actually kind of Hawaii themed. I don't know if you guys are old enough to know who Golad Jenkowitz is, the guy who did Bodies and Motions that was really popular in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, but um so I'm going to be doing an aircraft carrier workout this morning that involves a lot of punching and kicking kind of like MMA moves. This is going to be my main workout before I
hop in the shower and have breakfast. Oh, what a phenomenal workout that was. Glad never disappoints. So guys, it's 7:38 right now. Breakfast opened up eight minutes ago. I'm all prepped, quaffed, and ready to go. That was a fantastic breakfast. I really keyed in on a high protein meal. I had smoked salmon and cream cheese, a side of American bacon, sauteed mushrooms, a fruit platter, and an omelette with everything. So, I included feta cheese, that included all the vegetables you can think of. So, that was a huge breakfast and I'm already feeling the desire to burn it off. So, there is a Tai Chi class at 9:00. I've got about 15 minutes to spare. So, I think I'm going to head
up to deck 15 and join the Taichi class. So, let's keep going. Guys, that Tai Chi class was a lot of fun. It brought me right back to being in Hong Kong where I remember during my backpacker days, I'd be wandering around. I'd find a green space in Hong Kong and I would see people of all ages doing tai chi. It's such a great workout. It's the type of workout I need to start doing more of. I tend to focus more on like strength, endurance, and balance. But this is all about smoothness of motion, connecting to your breath, and also getting a bit more flexible. So guys, my next program doesn't start until 10:15. It's currently 9:45. I have a half an hour to spare. So I went down just one level and grabbed myself a
non-sugar iced tea. Nice and refreshing. I was so impressed by Celia Garland's Birds of the Sea presentation yesterday that I'm going to another one today at 10:15. It's called Extreme Animal Adaptations. So, I'm going to learn a little bit more about animals today. Get a bit of an education while out at sea. I just came back from Celia's fantastic presentation, extreme animal adaptations, and I learned some fascinating things today. Let's first talk about the koala bear. It's not a real bear. Did you know that it lacks the qualifications? That's actually not my joke, but they're marsupials. And because they eat eucalyptus leaves, they end up sleeping 22 hours. Now, contrast that with the giraffe, who was up for 22
hours. So, they're literally opposites in terms of activity levels. Now, the other animal I want to talk about that she first mentioned was the bear. And that's near and dear to me because we have bears in southern Alberta. So, what's fascinating about the bear is when it first wakes up, it's mostly eating plants like dandelions. As time passes and it starts to eat fish, it becomes picky at some point. Later on in the season, before deciding whether or not to eat that particular salmon, it wants to make sure that it's of course a female salmon, and it doesn't go for the cuts of meat that we love. It instead eats the eggs. Also, bears do not hibernate in the true sense. They
den. So, if you were to go into a bear's den and make noise or whatever, it would wake up. True hibernation means that you could practically shake the animal and it wouldn't wake. Perfect example that she gave was there was a whale that one time washed the shore and a whole bunch of bears smelled it and woke up and had a feast and then went back into the den. Yeah, some fascinating things that I learned from her. She has one more presentation tomorrow that I'm going to attend as well. All right, friends. Time for an update. It's been a little while since I showed the clock. So, basically what happened after the presentation that went on from 10:15 to 11:00, I had about a half an hour to spare. So, I came back here, got
to talk to Audrey, got to see my Really doll, was making her laugh. So, that was a lot of fun. Hey, girl. He likes it. She's happy to see Papa. How cute are you? My goodness. Then went out for lunch from 11:45 right up until now. So, I have another gap of an hour. And what I'm planning to do is recharge, not just for myself, but also my camera battery, too. It's going to be a busy afternoon. And I'm also planning to stay up really late tonight, maybe 10 or 11:00 p.m., which doesn't sound that late, but local time for me where I'm from, that would be like 2 or 3 in the morning. So, I
need a little bit of a rest to reset, get the battery recharged, and to get ready for the second half of today, baby. I'm all sugar. So, the question you're probably wondering is, why didn't you pursue a singing career? I don't know. So much raw talent. Obviously joking. I'm about 15 minutes away from the showing of Blue Hawaii. It's going to be playing in the main theater hall. Of course, it's starring Elvis. And as we're getting close to approaching to Hawaii, how appropriate. Apparently, there's going to be popcorn. So, I'm heading there. Actually, that was pretty fun. Um, kind of like a romantic musical comedy before. I don't even know if that genre existed back then. It was a funny movie. There were some pretty hilarious oneline
zingers. I'm welcome you home, but I'm not speaking to you. I mean, it was a ridiculous plot. Pretty cheesy, pretty predictable. I was just looking up the movie. It has a 22% rating on uh Rotten Tomatoes. So, that should give you an idea. Also starred a young Angela Lansbury, and I remember her growing up from Murder She Wrote. So, that was pretty cool. It was great to see clips from Hawaii and how underdeveloped it was back in the 60s. It's going to be a very different experience for us arriving, but it's definitely made me excited. We're so close to arriving. It's just a fun way to spend an afternoon eating some popcorn. Blue Hawaii, a classic from 1961.
It's now 4:46 p.m., guys. I'm back on the walking track. This is one of my favorite places to hang out here on the cruise ship. And for the main reason, I just like to be in motion. I like to be walking. I like to be doing things. And it's a really nice time of day. It's not too hot at the moment. It's not too crowded. And I'm having a lot of fun just going for another walk. All righty. So, after that nice little walk around the track, I decided to go check out the pool on the 14th deck. And it's lively. It's happening. I mean, it's not packed, but it's definitely a little bit busier than I prefer in terms of when I like to go to the pool or the jacuzzi. So, I've got a little ace up my sleeve, guys. I'm
going to be heading back sometime between 6:30 and 7:30. That's when most people are planning dinner or their evening entertainment. It tends to be quiet, but I'll be going back to check it out then. But right now, what I have noticed is that the sun is close to setting with all of these time changes. It seems to be happening a little bit earlier every day. And I'm gonna go outside and enjoy it from the privacy of my own stateateroom. Open sesame. My goodness. Just in time, guys. Just
such a smooth trip from Vancouver to Hawaii. Who would have thought it? I honestly had this idea that we were going to get some serious beatdowns, at least on a couple of days, but no, it's been absolute smooth sailing. And I feel like the closer we get to Hawaii, the nicer it's become. The weather's warming up. The waters seem even calmer. And it feels like the ship is even moving a bit slower, too. It's just everything's just entering the chill zone. The chillax zone. We are completely chillaxing out here. Whoa. I'm so glad I lingered out here a few minutes. The colors are insane to the membrane. And guys, it's almost 6:00 p.m. In about 15 minutes, there's going to be acoustic duo sailor group at
the Grand Foyer on the third floor. So, I'm going to go check that out. Haven't heard that type of music yet on this trip, but I'm kind of excited to see what it's all about. So, that's about the only thing that's going to get me out of this chair. Otherwise, I think I would just relax for at least another 30 minutes. But, there is some live music. So, I'm going to make the effort to go check it out. I'm ready to go check out the pool and to hopefully jump into the jacuzzi. And I'm also ready to test my theory that it's not going to be that busy. Roed up and ready to go. I'll see you at the pool or the jacuzzi. Could it be? Is it?
Yes, it is. In go. Oh my gosh, that's absolutely wonderful. Nothing like being in a jacuzzi, especially when you got it all to yourself. Oh, I love that, guys. Just had to wait till 6:30. That's literally what time it is. Check it out. I don't know if you can see on the watch. 6:36. So, not only the jacuzzi, but the pool is also completely empty as well. I'll be definitely heading over. So relaxing, so comfortable. I'm having so much fun just chilling out here. And now we got the bubbles going. Oh my gosh, this feels like a private spa, private resort. And to be on a cruise with thousands of people, and for it to be this packed in the afternoon, this is unfathomable. I love finding the cheat
codes of things, so I feel like I'm in my happy place right now. I've unlocked the magic of the jacuzzi all to myself at 6:48 p.m. Got to love it. And friends, is the pool now empty? It could be. It is. Check that out. Highlighted of the day was having the pool and the jacuzzi to myself for a full 40 minutes. That was phenomenal. And it is now 7:43 p.m. which means that my scheduled dinner is in 17 minutes. So I came back to the room, had a quick shower, and I'm going to head up to have a really nice meal. It'll be a three course meal, appetizer, main and dessert, and then there's a performance coming up and live music up on the deck. So the evening has just
begun. Now comes the meals and the entertainment. My goodness, what an action-packed day out at sea. It was like 2xing or 3xing. what a normal day would be like. And honestly, it was a really, really fun challenge. And it just showed me how much I can be maximizing my time on a day out at sea. So, how I finished things off, I had a really nice three course meal, including pork spring rolls, shrimp fetuccini, and a colorful strawberry cake for dessert. So, that meal was fantastic. And then I immediately went over to the theater and enjoyed a really great performance. Again, it was more classic songs from the diva era. Aretha Franklin, Paty Klene, Whitney Houston, so many others. So, that was a lot of fun. And then
finally, I went up to the 14th floor and enjoyed some live music and watching others get out on the dance floor and boogie the night away. So, overall, I hope this gave you a glimpse of what life can be like out at sea on a sailing day and just how much you can do in one day. I mean, I normally don't eat that much. I normally don't exercise that much and I normally don't experience that many activities or entertainment, but it was a lot of fun turning the dial up to turbocharge and getting out there and doing as much as I possibly could. So, I hope you enjoyed this video and we'll have plenty more content from my trip to Hawaii. So, I guess see you soon. Tata for now. I booked this 11
