Simon Jordan Calls Out Daniel Levy Over Tottenham's £52M Bid for Jan Paul van Hecke

Simon Jordan criticizes Daniel Levy and Tottenham's £52 million bid for Brighton's Jan Paul van Hecke, questioning the club's ambition and financial strategy. He highlights the deal's structure, including a 20% sell-on clause, and compares it to past spending. Jordan also doubts whether this signals a shift in Spurs' transfer approach.

Simon Jordan EXPLAINS his message to Daniel Levy on Spurs' £52M DEAL for Jan Paul van Hecke! | Transcript:

Um, Simon, here's the thing. It was interesting yesterday. Ben Foster to a degree outed you some somewhat unwittingly, did he not? When he joined us live in the show yesterday, uh, about your Daniel Levy conversation, but of course um, it centers around what Tottenham under not the new ownership as you quite rightly stress, the same ownership, what they are trying to do. Jean Paul Van Heeka coming in from Brighton uh 50 million plus. Are they going to get Sandro Tali? Um and it all amounts to this question. Is it proof of a new found ambition at Tottenham or is it same old? Is this what they've always been about really when Daniel was there?

Well, you'll have to ask Daniel what they were like when he was there. But I would imagine that they had a certain attitude towards prudency because Daniel wasn't the majority shareholder. They were. So if they want to change the landscape then different rules apply. If they want to reposition all the blame back on the lack of achievement, the lack of ambition, lack of trophies just in one place, then that's up to them. You know, I think Spurs have spent money previously. We've seen them spent a couple hundred million pounds on with some degree of regularity over the last two or three years. As we've discussed, the big thing for Tottenham is wages.

And that's what deters bigger players coming to them because they've got this criteria of meeting a certain obligation to wage ratio that they covenanted the banks for the funding that they've got for building stadiums and whatever else. They're going to change that introduc. You might want to ask yourself why they didn't do that previously. I don't mind people changing direction. I dislike bullies and I dislike repositioning circumstances. And I wasn't outed yesterday. I was just fooling enough to say to Ben, "This is interesting what's happening with this Tottenham Hotspur deal with Brighton." So Ben decided to make an A for himself by saying, "Oh, look, you're talking to Daniel Levy."

Okay, well done, Ben. I won't show you my phone again. There you go. But going Sam's about to leave the World Creat by the window. Yes. But um going down to that parade that we've been feigning interest in for the last three hours. I'm glad I've not got to talk about the New York Knicks anymore because I really didn't care about the result in the first place. I'm with you. Yeah. Fantastic. Absolutely. Now some honesty in the room. Um, look, I they've made such a big noise, the Tottenham board now about the differentiation circumstance that it's wonderful for the Spurs fans because they're going to have to back it up. Now, does that do I believe that means that Tonali is going to sign for? I doubt it. But if they do

and they start pulling off signings like this, then you can start to see the direction of travel. Um, and off they go. They're the ones that made the Foract play out of differentiating themselves between Daniel and themselves and they're the ones that nearly got them relegated last year. Yeah. So, with all that in mind, it'll be interesting to see what happens. That's your question. What's the importance of them? You'll answer it anyway. What's the importance of them doing the deal so early? Like what why is that? Is that to try and get the fans on side that were trying to do some Zer's request too?

Yeah. Steel March. I mean there may well be because as Jim was alluding to yesterday without any particular evidence behind it there's a raft of clubs that were in for his signing and what the point was that it is if you look at this deal and say you've paid 52 million pounds for a player that's got one year left on his contract has repeatedly refused to sign a new deal with Brighton. You've given them a 20% sell on and payment terms that suits a selling club. It is relatively rich and there's nothing wrong with pointing that out. Now, if you're going to make that kind of money available and throw it around, maybe you might have made that available for the other guys that

are running it for you. Just saying if you're going to draw parallels, good bit of business for Brighton. Again, oh, Brighton are laughing. Absolutely without a doubt. Let me tell you, um, in the absence of Ross Williams from Sky Bet, I will be Ross Williams from Sky Bet just for a fleeting moment. England 13-2 from 7 to1 to win the World Cup following last night's win four goals to two over Croatia. So they've moved in the market significantly into third favorite place now behind France and Spain but they have leapfrogged Portugal in the process after Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo yeah faltered yesterday against uh

Congo. So that is where England are now. They've gone third favorite 13-2 from seven to one. And that was a look at the latest odds. All thanks to Sky Bet 18 plus gamblaware.org.
