Test Pixel Features and What to Know

Test Pixel Features and What to Know

A blind video test compares the video recording capabilities of three top smartphones: Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, and iPhone 17 Max. The test covers main camera, second camera, indoor, portrait, zoom, low light, ultra-wide, and selfie categories. Participants guess which phone shot each clip, revealing strengths and weaknesses in color accuracy, dynamic range, stabilization, and noise handling. The Samsung often wins for natural colors and contrast, while the Pixel struggles with over-sharpening and noise. The iPhone performs well but can have tint issues. The test highlights that while the Pixel lags in video quality, it remains competitive in photos and price.

Blind video test: Galaxy S26 Ultra vs Pixel 10 Pro XL iPhone 17 Max. | Transcript:

Hey, what's up guys and welcome to our video. Today we have a special guest. Olive, why don't you introduce yourself? Hey, I'm Olive. I'm from versus.com and we also do product reviews, tech comparisons, the whole lot. So be sure to definitely check us out as well. Thanks for having me. I'm actually very excited for this video. Awesome. What we're doing today is a bit of a blind test. We're going to be comparing the video recording of three of this year's top smartphones. This Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. We'll be looking at the video clips side by side and guessing which phone is which and judging which one's the best.

Why don't you guys guess along with us? Definitely guess along with us. So someone has prepared this and split everything into categories and some of the categories will be on this channel and the others will be on the versus channel. Mhm. So definitely be sure to check out our video too. You can see the categories down below. The first comparison we're going into is from the main camera. Yes, let's play the video. All right. So what do you think? Can you see? Ooh, I don't know, you know. I think I'm leaning either towards B or C, but I think B is a little bit too saturated.

You think so? The skin tones are very orange. I'm going to guess that's the iPhone, but I don't know. Yeah, the left one is definitely more dull. Oh, the left one is Yeah, the left one has to be the Pixel though. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. That's my guess. Hm. So it's either B or C from They look so similar. You're going to go C? I'm going to go C. I just think the skin tones look so much more natural. That B is giving me like tinted orange. What do you think? of like B a little better. Yeah, I like the pop a little bit more at least in this scene.

Mhm. Okay, you're B. Yeah. Going C. Let's see. Yeah. Oh, I'm nervous. Why am I nervous? I knew it. I told you. you got the Pixel. All right, nice. Second video. Let's do the second scene. This is also from the main cam. All right, it's more like uh Ooh, that's that's quite difficult. You know, for this one, I'm going to have to say, I mean, we can play it and we'll stop in a minute. I'm going to have to go with A. It has to be A, right? I mean, it has to be the best dynamic range here and look at the sky.

C definitely it has those lens flares on C. Yeah, if C feels a bit overexposed to me, to be honest. Like the whole The shadows are way too lifted in my opinion and it just looks a bit blown out kind of. Right. know. What are you thinking? And if you look on B, it's just Look at the sky. Do you like that? Um But maybe you like that. To be honest, I'm not going to judge because they're Well, it's kind of a subjective thing. Uh-huh. So, you prefer the more contrasty look. I Yeah, I guess. Yeah. like when my sky is like looking blue still. Right.

Not overexposed. Yeah, I would say B because C definitely looks like um unnatural at times. It's It's the Pixel. It's the way too lifted. Everything, especially here. to be. What do you think? face head-on? I think that should be the Pixel, yeah. But for B, I don't know what that would be. Me, neither, actually. At first, I was thinking A is the iPhone, but I'm actually not sure. So, but I'm going to choose A either way because I think it just has the best dynamic range. What are you going for? Uh I would choose B. Uh B is Samsung. Are you surprised? I'm not surprised by um the Google, but Samsung and iPhone, they were more uh harder to tell apart, I think. That's true.

There you go. I think Samsung did a good job as well, though. It's a nice video. Yeah. All right, we're inside now. Now, we're on the third clip from the main cam. All right. Exactly. Inside. Ooh. This one's tough. But, I don't know. A's not that bad, to be honest. I look pasty, but that's just me. Kind of like C. I just like the warmer look of the indoor scene. I think the C is pretty good as well, and knowing I shot this, so I know that the color of that chair, the real color of that chair, and I would have to say I think C is the most accurate here as

well. Okay. Color-wise, obviously, you haven't seen this setting in real life, but that chair is that kind of yellow, so All right. I think we're both going C, right? Yeah, let's let's go for C. Yeah, I have to say phone B's skin tones are nice, though. I think that's Samsung. I think B is C's iPhone. Let's see. Oh, yeah. I know them well. I think after some takes, you can start to predict a little what is what. But, how are you guys doing? Are you guessing it?

Yeah. And which [snorts] one do you think is the best? K, wait. now we're moving on to portrait video. Do you use portrait videos often? Like in your daily Not really. Do you? Like, I never think to use it. I'm taking portrait photos, but I never think to take videos. it depends because it depends what you're doing in the video. I think if it's a more simple video, then it's okay, but if you're moving too much, you can just see the edge detection just isn't it's not quite hitting. It's giving you like an MJ nose, and I don't know how I feel about that.

Yeah. So, you know, it depends on the phone and what you're which smartphone you're using. Okay. So, shall we hit it? Yeah, let's hit it. And now, this one's interesting. I feel like Oh, it's got to be B. Or C. C's not bad, you know. You like B the best. Because look at the edge detection on my sunglasses. Hang on, I'm going to show you. We have to go back. We got to go Yeah, yeah. Look at my sunglasses in A. Ready? And then in B, like it was blurring them a bit. Oh, right. Yeah, I didn't see that. But to be honest, otherwise, I color wise, I would say I actually prefer A. I think A looks I was going to say A looks more real

than B. Yeah. But now that you point out the edge detection, uh that's the whole point of the portrait. Yeah, exactly. So, I don't know. I Let's watch it again cuz I need to And I'm now I'm looking at C. I do see some problems with C as well. I see. Yeah, I see quite a lot of problems with C. It's making me look pasty. Yeah. I mean, I'm not the most tan little lady, but I think So, you know, I'm going to say B is the best. I'm going to have to go for B as well. And we all know who what it is, right? Guess. I wonder. Guess it's kind of obvious now, right?

Is it the iPhone? Yeah, it's going to be the iPhone, but I think Samsung also looks good. You know? It's not bad. It has like a bit of more of like a It just made that one mistake with the glasses, basically. Yeah. All right. So, another portrait. Let's see. Well, this one a little bit farther away. Yeah. I think I will get closer, but Oh, okay. Let's Let's keep going. Phone A looks more blurred in the back, I think. That's true. Yeah, I think I'm going to go for B, to be honest. Very close, though.

It's very close between B and C. I would say A is I don't know. Actually, C might be the one. No, I'm going C. You're going C? I'm going to go C. What did I say? I don't know. All right, I'll go C then. I just like the contrast on C. I think C has nice contrast. Wow. All right. Samsung. Oh my god, B was iPhone? Okay. Dude, I never would have guessed that. That was a hard one. Why was that so hard? hard. I think uh just the lighting was the way the lighting hit.

Yeah, that was a tricky one. I'm so curious to know what you guys thought, right? Like what they're thinking because it's it's really interesting to see. So, now moved on to zoom. Hmm. Ooh, C looks rough. Do you see this over sharpening that's happening in C? I'm going to say that is our good old friend, Google. Yeah, I see that. Especially the color of my trousers, my jeans. It's giving Google. I don't know. I it does Like I see a change all of a sudden, too.

I guess it's going as it switches between the lens and the digital zoom. It's like really stark contrast on It's very choppy. I think A is not bad, though. No, A is not bad. I think B is the most consistent. You also see a bit of a switch on A. Yeah, and I think again, I still think A has too much warmth to it, but like again, that's a personal taste. Okay. Like we just know who does that, though. You know, this video is going to prove that I think I am quite a Sammy girl.

Yeah? Damn, I would Yeah. Samsung was way smoother, at least in that example. Now we got another much more similar, though, wouldn't you say? K. Done. Let's go in close. Yeah. Ooh, that's switch, but I guess we have to ignore the lens switch, right? Because it's not really But if you're zooming while you're filming, That's true. then this will be really noticeable. Absolutely. So this it's worth considering. Yeah. I don't know. For this one, I might go A. I'm going to go for C, actually. I just I look like a Simpson character.

I don't Why is it looking so yellow? Yeah, I changed my mind. C is too yellow. A. Yeah, I'll say A. What do you guys think? Oh. It's Samsung. It's Sammy. C is the iPhone? Yeah, C wasn't so bad. think that? Did you think it was the iPhone? Yeah, I was thinking it's the iPhone. I thought like it's it's not that bad, but it's a little too yellow. It's a bit too Yeah, I was Definitely not B. It's so super noisy. Yeah. a little worried for a second. He's like, "Well, maybe you like that." Um ooh, it's quite a tie between A and B A and C, isn't it? Ooh, okay, look at the sign on the restaurant. This is

controlling it much better than C. A is doing better. So, A is really But C is doing okay. C is not bad, but I'm going to have to go for A because of the Yeah, run of the lights. everything. A. Yeah, I'll go A. Let's go A. A it is. Guess which phone? Ooh, that's hard. Oh, you're right. He's got the iPhone. I don't know. iPhone gets green, so All right. Okay. Ooh. Another one. Okay, this is a tough scene. It's very dark. It's actually in our studio, so it's very dark in there.

Phone A really exposed it. And I know what's happening. This is the Pixel. Pixel does this, which I actually think is nice sometimes when you want to see something, right? Exactly. If you can't see it, then what's the point? Exactly. So, if you actually want to illuminate something that's super dark, Pixel doesn't The Pixel's the only one that can do this, clearly. Right. As you see. I mean, you do get more noise, but that's the trade-off, I guess. Yeah, I don't know. I think I'm going to go for B because it's illuminating a little bit in the dark. When you go out, it gets a little skin tone, it gets yellowy, but C is so

pink. A would be the most usable in a lot of situations. That's true, actually. It's very noisy, though. It's very noisy. But if you're in a pitch black situation, maybe that's better. I'll go with A for this one. That's true. Okay, fair enough. I get your point, though, because like if you actually want to be able to see something. Yeah. Then A is the only one that does it. And of course, A is drum roll Pixel. The Pixel. I mean, it doesn't look bad. It's just the noise level just needs to be like reduced a little bit because Yeah, with an ultra wide Anyway.

It's true. It is ultra wide. That's true. I'm being too picky. Google did well. Okay. Now on to the selfie cam, front camera. Front camera. Final category, I think. All right. Let's see. Let's do it. It's an interesting one. They're very different, aren't they? Well, the two on the outside, A and C, are more similar. The middle one is rather different. Yeah, the middle one has very high contrast, right? From what I'm seeing, I don't know. So.

Yeah. A is very warm Mhm. tinted. Um So, we kind of know where that who that is. What do you think about C? I actually think C is the best. You think C is the best? I think C looks natural. Gives you enough in the frame. bit sharper in the background than A. I just think the skin tones are more natural on C. Like, it's a wider frame. For me, I'm C. Yeah, I'll go for C. And I'm going to say Pixel. Yeah, C is Pixel. All right. Yeah, I'm not really a fan of Samsung's front camera, to be honest, so I think it's not the best. Okay, here we go. We have another front camera.

Okay. Let's see. Again. Well, the skin tone changed a lot between Yeah. the others. It's so much darker. I don't like A at all. I don't think A looks good. No, it looks a little bit um cartoonish or like AI or something. I would say so. It looks just off, to be honest. Um Yeah. Let's keep playing it. I'm going to have to go I mean, to be honest, B is not bad. It looks It has a little bit of this like cinematic vibe.

Right. It's a little flirtin' kind of, I don't know, but Mhm. Like the closer crop, I think. can work better in some situations. But the dynamic range better on C because look at the lights. It's handling this a bit better. Right. Actually like B the best. Okay, I'm going to go C. You're going to go C? C looks good. But the skin tones are so different, it's crazy. Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to say that. Oh, wow. Oh, I didn't expect that. you like the iPhone best? I actually thought the A was the iPhone, actually. Yeah, mhm. Even though I know that you know, iPhones tend to have pretty good front cameras, but I

wasn't sure about the tint and whatnot. Okay. But I knew this was Samsung, so. Oh. Cuz it has the most cropped front camera. Yeah, it does. So. The middle one seemed more natural looking to me. Yeah. No, you're right. brightened up as far as the skin tones go. Mhm. It's not bad. Cool. So, what would what is our kind of debrief then? All right, so we made it through all of the categories. And I think we mostly did all right.

I think we got most of them. I think guessing-wise it becomes kind of easy once you see the pattern of each phone, but then you have some surprises like this last one. I didn't expect that to be the iPhone, to be honest. Yeah. So. Actually, Samsung did quite a good job and uh a lot of times it was neck and neck. It really was. Like I said, that was quite shocking for me, so nice to see to be honest. Um yeah. The Pixel and it was generally a little bit behind, I think. I think the Pixel is just it's I think for photos the Pixel can be really good.

I think when it comes to video, it's just lacks a little I don't know, the quality isn't quite there and especially Yeah, especially next to them, you know. Yeah. I mean, it's still good, but It's still good, but I think for the price, I don't know if we would rather have an iPhone or a Sammy because they just look clear cleaner, you know? But yeah, it was an interesting test though, to be honest. So, how did you guys do in the comparison? Let us know down in the comments and uh be sure to check out Versus channel because we'll be doing the other categories on a second video.

Yeah, we have some fun ones. We did like stabilization and ultra wide and what else did you guys do that was low light main camera, which is quite important, you know. Yeah, that's an important one. So, be sure to check that out. We'll also pin a comment below for you guys to be able to just quickly get into that video. Right. Well, thanks for watching, guys, and uh we'll see you on the next one. Bye.
