Jumping Over A Moving F1 Car (world first). | Transcript:

I'm about to try and jump my BMX bike over a moving F1 car. How would you feel about being behind a wheel? I would feel worse in your case. You can do that one. God, it's big, isn't it? It's so big. It's way longer than I remember. I am sweating. I don't know if it's a heat or if I've just shed my pants to be honest with you, but it's going to be a good one though. It's going to be a good one. Just keep telling myself that and we'll get there. So, here's the deal. To pull this off safely, I have three big obstacles to overcome. And only once I complete these three stages will I be ready for the real deal. So, before I

can let the car come at me for real, I need to see if I can jump high enough. Now, the tallest point on an F1 car is here at N5 of a meter. Wo, that was really high. That one? Yeah, that was up there. Easy stuff. But I need to be in the air long enough to clear the rear wing as well. So I actually need to be able to jump over a height of 1.3 mters to be safe. Ah, this is higher than I've ever had to jump before. So I'm using motion capture to see exactly where I need to improve.

Higher the speed, the easier to convert energy. Round after round of analysis, I'm starting to improve my jumps. This is like the best technique you basically can have. You make yourself as small as possible. And now I can clear a target height every time. Wo. But if I'm going to jump over a moving F1 car, I need to be able to perfect my timings over something that moves. Enlisted my uh my good friend George here to get behind the wheel. Trust this guy with all the projects that I do. I trust him with this. Not that much of a driver, but here we go. The reason why this is so gnarly is myself and the car

need to meet exactly at the right spot at exactly the right time. In fact, I'll have a window of just 0.2 seconds to reach my jump. Less in the blink of an eye. And if I miss my timing, the consequences could be huge. I still got my hand with my timing dialed. All that's left to do is meet my driver. Yes, mate. How you doing? So nice to meet you. Yeah, good, man. Yeah, fellow Scotsman. Yeah, it's absolutely brilliant. I'm feeling very comfortable that I'm in the car. I'm feeling a little bit responsible towards what you have to do. And if I messed up as you got a bike coming towards you, so it's like it's pretty well if you're up for it.

For sure. Yeah. Well, I'll see you there. See you later. Cheers. See you. He's mad, isn't he? He's completely mad. Having DC on board means I'm now ready to jump the F1 car. My mouth is dry. This whole time I feel like I've put it off almost. It's horrible, isn't it? So, I first thought about this project like probably about 2 years ago. And every time I see that car, it's just like seems to get longer and longer. Right from the start, I try and visualize it over and over. Like I even visualized high-fiving and hugging everyone at the end of it. So in my head I've already done it. It's just doing it again pretty much. But for real. I just hope there's no wind.

Well, tomorrow though we'll see. So this is how the jump is going to work. I'm going to do a flying lap of the track in the RB7. And once I get to a certain point, I'm going to hold my speed. And at the same time, Chris is going to get a 5-second countdown to where he needs to leave his position. Meanwhile, I continue at a consistent speed towards him. Chris gets himself up to speed, ready to make the jump. We'll meet at exactly this point and Chris will jump right over me. Arrive too early and he risks coming down on the razor sharp rear wing. And arrive too late, well, we don't want that to happen. So, timing is going to be everything. timing. Just don'ting panic.

Car on track. I repeat, car is on track. Let's have Chris in position, please. Before I'm ready for DC to drive straight at me, I'm going to warm up with five jumps side by side. Only once I complete those, I'll be able to attempt the jump for real. Mess up any of the side by sides and I run the risk of the safety team pulling the plug before the jump. DC, remember this is a practice run. Make sure to go side by side. He's having fun.

That one was so windy. That was too late. Look like that will be it. Absolute failure. So I still have to clear five in a row before the carpentry. With four perfect jumps, I just have one left before I finally take on the car. Yes. Come on. Cameron in position, guys. Chris going for it this time. Let's move. You want to hit the back first time? You can hit the round this time. Go on, Chris. Boy, we're going. He's going to do it. Those are all perfect. Sorry. Okay, going to have a bit of a reset here. Wind is picking up, so we'll only have one more shot at this. I made it. Yeah.

Yeah, the first one was wrong. The other five were spot on. This is like the hardest thing I've ever had to do mentally. It's not surprising that driving a Formula 1 car at you. I feel like I'm going so low. No, you're miles above it. Oh man, this is horrible. Do you want to watch your back quickly or not? Yeah. Just like knowing that I went too uh below. You're pissing at me. Oh my god, boys. Let's get any more.

You're going to do it. Have one of these. Yeah. Give me an hour. Windy. Okay, wind has picked up substantially. So, this will be the final attempt. Hit the box. A firm. Hit the ramp. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I went a bit sideways. Yeah. I went sideways. No, no. It's windy as though. See, start pedals. A gust came up. Seriously got it. Oh, man. It looked good from where I was sitting. I've done it. I went sideways. It got like super windy and I was like I just didn't feel like I had the momentum.

I'm not ready to give up on this just yet and I've got one more chance. Just a reminder everyone, we only have 30 minutes on track. So Chris will just have a couple of attempts at this jump. Jesus Christ. Let's get it, man. Let's get it. Let's get it, man. Do it. Do it, bro. Let's put this bad boy to bed. Yeah. Golf. Let's go. Come on, Accuracy boys. The camera's rolling, please. Yeah, cut your release. Yeah, boy. Let's go. Okay, go for the Let's go. Make it happen. Hold it. Let's Heat.

That's the scariest thing I've ever done on my
