It's been a difficult weekend for the racing community and sports world with the shock and passing of Kyle Bush. And as Fox NASCAR announcer Mike Joy tells us, the future Hall of Famer left a lasting legacy. Kyle Bush wasn't born in a race car. It just seemed that way. With raw talent, confidence, and a fearless edge, he started racing at six and was NASCAR Rookie of the Year at just 19. Don't ever doubt me with one lap to go. He went on to build one of the greatest careers the sport has ever seen, earning 234 wins across all three national series, but all that winning did little to smooth Kyle's rough edges. That took a very special person, Samantha. As

their love and family grew, so did he. And Victory Lane became the place shared with the people he loved most. In 21 years chasing greatness, the talented teenage wild thing grew into the husband, father, and champion everyone wanted to see win at least one more time. And we did. A brief illness claimed the life of Kyle Bush Thursday, age 41. And we are joined by seven time NASCAR champion Jimmy Johnson with Tony and Danica. And I wish it was under different circumstances that we had you here, but we appreciate you coming by. You were a teammate of Kyle Bush's. This is just so shocking and sudden and has sent shock waves through all of us. So, we grieved with you.

Absolutely. And, you know, I'm I was in this paddic for a few years and was so surprised how many in this paddic paid attention to NASCAR and coming back here a couple of days ago and seeing folks after the announcement about Kyle's passing to see the love and respect from this garage. is paddock as they call it. Uh the community of motorsport it is uh always impressive and to see everybody rallying and sharing their concerns this time is uh has been quite impressive. You know, I think what stands out about Kyle is just how much he loved racing. You know, he loved to drive the cars, win the cars. Obviously, we saw how competitive he was and fiery to now his son Brexton racing. And uh you know, he

wanted to race the 8500. He really wanted to. And I'm really sad that we're not going to see that happen. Um because I think he would have been pretty spectacular. Uh but he's truly a loss to obviously his family, but the whole racing community for the personality and the driver that he was. Yeah. And I was fortunate enough to have him as a teammate as well. And he was a little rough around the edges. Finally somebody that came along that was rougher around the edges than I was, but he made me look good at times. He did. He did in all honesty. But I think what I'm going to miss the most and what I've really appreciated watching the last couple years is the

transformation from him to grow into a family man and a father and uh you know obviously my roots are in dirt track racing. So to be able to watch Kyle and Brexton and Samantha go to the racetrack together and race and just see that family atmosphere for those guys. That's a side of Kyle Bush that most people didn't get the luxury to see. An outstanding talent who was also the great father and husband and watching him grow into that was special. So tragic. As Jimmy just mentioned here, people here honoring in different ways. Roman GH in the 18 car showing his respect and honoring that of Kyle Bush, who had the 18 car. That's when he won most of his races, the two-time NASCAR champ, of

course. But the more recent Cup car he had was an eight car. And a number of the drivers will have that eight, that sticker to remember Kyle Bush on their car. And of course, the famed scoring pylon here is paying tribute uh showing his image as they have done all weekend, which is a great tribute. Thank you for being with us and we will continue live from Indianapolis in just a moment.
