Been a great series here in Baltimore. Please to have you on Sunday lead-off on Peacock for the finale. Three straight one-run affairs is stirring ninth-inning comeback executed by the home side yesterday, and we are all set on a perfect afternoon for baseball. The Orioles had been 1 for 17 with runners in scoring position this series. Severino stops down to bunt, it's a good one. Love that. Wow. He amazes me because how many major leaguers can really bunt? And every time they ask him to sacrifice, he gets it down. On the ground for Clement, and they will yield a run for the out.
It's good base running right there. Obviously going on contact, as soon as it was hit. Got a good and not the fastest base runner, either. And Pete Alonso. 0 and 2 to Holiday. There goes Alexander, and it's a swing and a miss at the plate. The damage is limited to a run. He is a baseball rat. And off the end of the bat into the gap in right-center. Alonso comes through with a runner in scoring position again. Some guys just have a knack for steaks. Steaks are RBIs. Some guys just Hey, the polar bear loves steaks.
He's one of those guys who knows what he needs and he relishes it. Machado rips that one into right. It's going to score Rutschman easily. Alonso to third. And he Oh my goodness. You got to throw it out of second base right there. Yes, I think so. I mean, Keep the double play in order. This is why Machado's Machado. This is why they gave him what the 8-year extension at age 20. You to make an adjustment.
Oh, he was looking for the heater that time after back-to-back curveballs. COLTON COWSER HAS STRUCK FOR A THREE-RUN HOMER. Right on cue, fastball. Yep. Or you can do that. Sit on a fastball and don't miss it. It's a nice option. It's a great option. Especially if you're an Orioles fan. So, what a weak period of time. Two walk-offs. All the other hits till yesterday were infield hits. Then he hits a double and now a home run.
Guy that had those wild off-season pursuits. Well, we'll get back to that. you a whole half inning to think about it. Jimenez in the sun. Man, he never picked that up cleanly. That's a knock. You got to go. Be close. And Alexander gets it there in time. No, no, no. That's Blaze Alexander world. That is. They cuz they thought I was at a crab restaurant here that's closed in the winter. And a called strike three taken by Teoscar Hernandez. A poorly timed visit to a crab restaurant takes us to break. And then about a month later they went 21 and five. That's crazy.
Farshaw bounces it to Alonzo, feeds it to Bradish. Six shutout innings for Kyle Ooh. Rocket back up the middle. And Alexander is aboard a series of fastballs. Yeah. He's been too hot to try to get him out in the middle of the plate. It was the splitter he threw. Jack. Jackson Holliday. And he stayed with it. Easily could have swung through it. And then the Orioles score five runs to win it. And that was ball four. Oh, under the pitcher. And the Jays are still able to turn that into a double play.
Pitcher's best friend. And it is. I mean, when you get a check swing, let's see how far hard it's hit. He's going as fast as Well, maybe he's not. There he takes off. So, again, disappointing when you check swing on a bases loaded. Nice slider. That's good footwork, though. Yeah, he's strong. Threw that off his back foot. Call on the field is overturned. The runner's safe. Baltimore retains the Yeah, you were on that, Jim. Ward legs it out. Run in with only one gone now for Gunnar Henderson. Lu Want the first pitch lines into left center. Varsho on the move. They play it off the wall. Alexander scores easily.
Ward to third. Eight nothing Baltimore. Michael Jackson. Off the wall. It's like we did two series ago. High fly ball out to right center. Varsho under it. He makes the catch. Ward comes in to score. Third run of the inning. Nine nothing Baltimore. One out, one on for Yoenis Piñango. Piñango, one of the rookies to have made a major league debut. That had a lot of English on it. It's way back up the middle of the field.
How did he hit that ball? I don't know. That was crazy. And get it through the infield. I mean, hit it on his knuckles. Next pitch to Charles McAdoo, grounded a gunner, flips to Holiday, back to Alonzo, the throw's air-mailed, and that's how Toronto gets on the scoreboard for the first time this afternoon. Yeah, strange play because you don't practice this. Cowser goes into shallow right. Oh, Piñango can't finish with the catch. Throw's going to come into second base. Nobody's covering first. Oh my gosh. And now Cowser breaking for the plate WHERE THEY GET HIM TRYING TO SCORE. And Ernie lines that one into left.
What a guy. That's going to get Lucas around to score. Okamoto gets the stop sign at third and it's a 9-2 ballgame. Young fan who thought that he was involving Jesús in a game of catch. Unfortunately, Jesús was not involved. And that one's going to go. My goodness, can that guy mash? That ball's murdered. Boy, and just like that, it's a 9-5 ballgame. Well, now you got to get worried if you're Craig Albernaz. That's This whole series has been teams that have blown late. 5-1 by the Jays yesterday, 5-0 by the Orioles on Friday night.
That's what the cutter does. If you do not get it inside, it speeds the bat up. And he crushes it. No longer a Met. Off the end of the bat, a broken one at that. And fittingly, it is Pete Alonso that puts an end to the afternoon. And the Baltimore Orioles with a big offensive output today have earned a series split with a 9-5 victory this afternoon. Salvaged it. We have a, you know, a really good clubhouse in there and um ultimately it's just going out there and playing hard and executing and um you know, this past week we showed that and um I think it's all about momentum right
now and we're just going to continue to build on it. Austin, thanks so Yeah, thank you. Appreciate it.
