Yes, here we go. The October 2026 patch is here for Pixel phones. So, it's time for the Pixel update bulletin. Let's get into it in this video. If you're a Pixel or Android fan though, then how about you enroll in the team? Hit that subscribe button and you'll get more content just like this. And I'd love to have you as part of the crew. Cheers. Let's get some bad news out of the way right up top. If you are using the Pixel 11 like I am, Pixel 11, 11 Pro, whatever it happens to be, no, this doesn't include that QPR1 update for you yet. Uh Google hasn't explicitly confirmed the reasoning why it hasn't rolled out for Pixel 11 series. I guess it's sort of implied by skipping that. We'll just
jump to QPR2 in December. Not exactly sure why that's the case. If you have that phone, uh you know that we've probably had a few early maintenance patches. They've dropped in around that September period. So, I'm kind of expecting those to keep us prepped ahead of that bigger drop later down the road. So, yes, you don't have some of the UI changes. For the most part, seems absolutely fine. I guess somewhat compounding things though is that we've had a ton of complaints online about the QPR1 update for older devices. So even a few on our website have been saying it's the buggiest update they've used on their device for years, which I have to say isn't a great look when the QPR1
update is supposed to be that last big release of the Pixel 6 series. If you're a Pixel 6 series user, that should be the last one that you get. I'm kind of hoping that we get some patches for that ASAP because yeah, there are a lot of problems and complaints about this online. And I didn't want to avoid mentioning any of this right in this video because I think it would be unfair to gloss over it kind of if you know what I mean there. Uh so if you are a Pixel 11 owner like I am then we are still waiting for QPR1. That's effectively long story short, but you are getting the October patch. So yeah, you're getting the October patch. You're not getting all the changes that were added last month with QPR1. Let's get
into some fixes though cuz I know I've rambled on a little bit there and at the end I'll try and give you a hit list of some of the common problems that you have been complaining about with QPR1 that haven't been resolved here because it isn't a big update as there are only three patches or fixes this month in the October release. One though is for virtual keyboard hangs or a disappearing virtual keyboard. I've actually had this when typing in the app draw search bar on my Pixel 11. The keyboard just wouldn't appear sometimes. So, you kind of have to tap down or dismiss it, open it again, tap in that area to get it to appear. That's the first fix for all devices from the Pixel 8. There isn't
anything listed for the Pixel 7 series here. I'm not sure why. There might not be patches. I will note that down below if it is available for the Pixel 7, but yeah, Pixel 8, sorry, for the Pixel 11 series. The second OTAA fix is for the Pixel 8 through to the Pixel 9. Uh, where you might get some sort of funky sounds or distortions in your ringtone with VIP calls. think like WhatsApp, web, that kind of stuff. H you I actually can't say I've seen this personally as the kind of person who uses silent mode anyway or vibrate mode, but it is said to be resolved with this update. The final fix, yeah, I said final fix for the Pixel 11 series only is for an orientation bug when you're recording videos or taking some photos.
You might take a landscape video and it'll save in portrait orientation or vice versa. Or does that even work? Whatever it happens to be, if you're shooting in landscape, it kind of like rotates in the wrong direction. Looks really weird. So, if you're a portrait lock fan like myself, and we probably all should be, you're really happy as there are no more annoying camera things here, especially as I really love camera looks, so I'm using my camera a lot more. Yeah, that's fixed here as well. Let's talk bugs though for a couple of minutes. As I mentioned, I think what's interesting about some of the issues that a lot of you say you're having with the Android 17 QPR1 release is actually
that Graphine OS or the Graphin OS team posted recently that a lot of these issues that you could be having may be due to a kernel issue that is likely the culprit for things like stuttering, lag, and device freezes. I'm not going to sit here though and lie to you say I know exactly how this works, but I do trust the Graphine team. They make a fantastic ROM if you are the kind of person who wants that extra privacy. I've tested it here on the channel and I'll leave a link down in the description below to that video if you want to check it out for yourself. I am a big fan of it, but they're saying that memory pressure is causing a lot of the problems. So, yeah, it's a bit of an annoyance, isn't it?
And I think in that regard, maybe us Pixel 11 owners should count ourselves lucky because we don't have QPR1 yet to have more problems with our devices. Then again, I don't think I've had that many problems. And there are so many complaints online about things like scroll lag, random UI problems. You name it, people are having issues. So, it's good to see that potentially the Pixel 11 is free of those for a little while and Google will start to release updates and fixes for that. It's a bit disappointing that only three have been resolved this time around. So, yeah, maybe in that November release, we'll get a bigger boatload of fixes. I do hope that's going to be the case because
it feels like a bit of a botch to have such an important year release. QPR1 is probably one of the biggest after, well, it is the biggest, isn't it? In most cases, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. But do go off on me and everybody else in the comment sections below. I want to hear what problems you having. If you have any that have been resolved that aren't necessarily mentioned in this patch as well, all these patch notes because sometimes get fixed, things get fixed and Google doesn't note them. Yeah, I think they do need to do a little bit better with these patches and the updates and all of the change logs because sometimes it is a little bit of a guesswork at times. But yeah, let me
know what you're thinking down in the comment sections below. Pixel 11 owners, we're still waiting for QPR1. As always though, thanks for watching and I'll catch you later.
