So, as soon as we got in this morning, we had an emergency call about a badger this time that's trapped in netting. It's that thick sort of orange construction netting, so it's very tricky, very thick, very dangerous. This badger has been slipping in and out of consciousness we've been told, so it's really not good. Let's head over there now and get to work. Is he still there? Yeah. Oh, he's he's so he's free from the netting now. This changes the game slightly. So, now he's loose.
Is he still attached to that pole? Can you see that? He's attached Can you see he's attached to the pole? He's probably struggled so much he's got so much that tightly wrapped around the neck, but he's actually ripped the pole out of the ground during the struggle. God, look at that. It's so tightly wrapped around. He will be in an incredible amount of discomfort. So, the risk we have is we almost want to pop him in the basket first and then cut him free I think because if we can almost use this as a grasper to get him in safely in the basket and then we can cut him free. If we cut him free from here, we don't want him running off because all around here you're going to have constriction wounds. So, he's definitely coming back. So, it's just how
Now, this poor guy's been struggling for quite a while I would guess. I know, little one. There we go. I know. All right. Okay, so we're still attached. We're still attached to all this stuff here. So, that's the bit we don't want. So, so we don't want to So, I think we're just going to have to cut what we can because he's going to struggle now. Yes, I know you're going to bite me. Oh, look at his wound. Digging in the ground. Oh my god, I just don't even know where to start with this. If we can with your scissors cut this section here for us.
Oh, yes, it's nicely done. All of this section as well. He's very feisty. So just might yourself sit. I'm going to pop him in. Now we've got him contained. See if we can make him a little bit more comfortable. There's so much of it. Just want to try and relieve some of that around the neck. I just really don't want him garroting himself on the journey back. Oh God, this is kind of the worst I've ever seen from a modest. I know. Let's try and get you free. Oh, I can feel it releasing already. That is so tight. Take that pressure off. There we go. Look at that. That's much better.
Oh, he's free. Sorry. Right, we've got him free. Completely Look at that. He's going to have to come back to us because he can get constriction wounds. These might not appear till like 24 48 hours later. In the wild, if we released him now, that's when he will go downhill. That has ripped the post out of the ground. Yeah. So sedation first? Yeah, I think so. Do you want me to prepare I mean Elena as well? So [snorts] I'm basically checking for any potential constriction wounds. You can see that the front leg has this. This is where she was entangled on that plastic weir net. She was also very dehydrated and underweight. In general, I would say the constrictions are bad.
Now it's it's more worrying that she gets better overall like her condition in general. With the badger struggling to stabilize, we're trying. her future was uncertain It's heavy. Heavy, too. Yeah, but I want to put it in the same place. If you like our videos, hit the red subscribe button and tap the little bell, so you never miss out on our latest content.
