Week eight, a wrap as we approach the halfway point of the NFL season. Always worth a look at your playoff picture. We're going to focus on the NFC side tonight after this big Chicago Bears win over the now in the hunt Seattle Seahawks. To be fair, Seattle was on the outside looking in entering this one. But that hill gets steeper now at 4-4 with more losses than they had in the entire season last year. But fellas, I want to start on the Chicago Bears. Six and two still has you chasing the Minnesota Vikings. currently your five seed. But Mac, you said something postgame that got me going a little bit.
You start looking at this team not just to unseat the Minnesota Vikings, but to really have your eye on one of those key seeds in the NFC. Oh, no question. The style of ball that Chicago is playing right now. I can easily see them, you know, obtaining that top seed. But of course, it starts with their division business. You're chasing the Minnesota Vikings. Oh, by the way, they have a game already in hand against the Chicago Bears because they beat them a few weeks ago. But for Chicago, they're playing some of their best football. The addition of Jeffrey Simmons, we see uh how that's playing
out right now, and I think it will get better. But then in terms of getting that top seed, you also have the buy, but everything would have to go through Chicago. And just imagine having to go to Chicago in mid to late January in a game seven like scenario where everything is at stake. You better start thinking about seating right now. They have another intriguing game coming up this upcoming week against a team that's currently in the hunt in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So, that game will definitely affect both teams and an opportunity to win four straight going into a well-placed week 10 buy for these Chicago Bears. Kyle, we just saw something a moment ago. It's a 6-2 Bears football team that's 0 and2 in the
division right now. Mack, you said it pregame, I think 8-1 now, their last nine out of the division. Nine division. Yes. and now 0 and2. Last year they win the division but had their struggles within as well. Can you point to the difference in NFC North football and everything else you're seeing? Well, first off, I do not care what the previous record says because all we have is today and the weeks moving forward. And the great news for the Chicago Bears is they're going to see the green and yellow team again. They're going to see the white and blue team again. And they're going to see the purple team again at the end of the season. And I think more time on task with Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams, and that slew of skill players for the
Bears. They'll get better and better offensively. And we saw tonight, they got better immediately with Jeffrey Simmons. So, I ain't tripping on that. And by the way, you look at the Minnesota Vikings, they're going to get bludgeoned over the course of the next four, five, six weeks. Tell him. He wasn't here yesterday. You don't have to tell me. Joe, you don't have to tell me. got killed on social media for saying that they were and they got beat by the Lions, but they're going to get beat again and again. I've been out since 5 and0. Okay. I've been out since Joe gave a proclamation that they I'm not welcome in Minnesota right now.
They will miss the playoffs is what Joe said. Look, end of the day, the team that scared me the most out of that NFC crew was the team that plays at Luma Field and they got they had to pass the sticks tonight. Okay, they had to pass the sticks and the Chicago Bears are going to get an opportunity to play the other best team from the other conference. That's the Buffalo Bills. I think they play week 15. So, you're gonna see all of the studs before you hit the dance. Real quick, as right now, the midway point in the National Football League, the two best teams in the NFC right now, as I see it, is San Francisco and Chicago. Okay. And the thing about San Francisco, you don't have concerns about an on the- field production.
It's the health. It's the health for me because when they have their full arsenal of guys, they're well coached, they execute to a high clip, they can score, they can get the necessary stops, it's just about how healthy will they be. And it certainly feels like we don't want to get ahead of ourselves here, but the West and the North will be the one and two. Your division champions will likely be the one and two there. I don't see the Giants or whoever comes out of this. I think that's a fair assessment. So, so South and East will be the three and four in some order. West and North will be your one and two. And then your wild card is going to likely be made up of all NFC North and potentially some NFC
West teams as well cuz you got good teams in the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks, but in the hunt outside looking in with the entire North playoff picture. Hey, you know what? Now that I actually thought about what I said, please. Tyson Beasent played quarterback against the Green Bay Packers. Yes, he did. and it rained sideways and there was a hurricane. They played the Vikings at home. So, you feel better. It's like, you know, take it with a grain of salt. Okay. What we saw tonight was the Chicago Bears. And what do they
what do the coaches always say on Saturday nights or uh Monday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, the eyes of the football universe are upon us tonight. Well, everybody watched that Yeah. 3-0 in prime time. The Chicago Bears this season. They get another one next week once again. They won on Thursday. They won on Monday. They'll look to win here on Sunday as well. Got to talk Seahawks because outside looking in halfway through the season again already more losses this year than these last year. Yeah, the that Rams team. It's an interesting in the hunt. I want to take a look at the Seattle schedule if we had it to just sort of game this thing out cuz you got to go through a
stacked west as well. No easy football games when you look at it. Cardinals, you think you'll get back on the right track taking on Garner Mchu. You got the Raiders before the buy. Couple pesky teams there. Then it's the NerS. Who knows what the Cowboys will be? Giants perhaps trying to chase down a divisional title before some prime time holiday play with the Eagles Rams. They finish Panthers Rams. Yeah. Bit of a stretch run against some good offenses. Do you see the road back clearly enough for a Seattle team likely going to have to get to 10 to make the NFC play? I see a road because if you keep the schedule up right here, the next two
weeks is a must-win for the Seattle Seahawks. You get the Arizona Cardinals, they're at home. You travel right down the road to Vegas. Both teams are kind of trying to figure things out, but those are winnable ball games. Then you get the buy and then you get right to back to business against the 49ers. Then you get the Cowboys. We know the Cowboys have the personnel, but the execution has been missing. And then the Giants, the Eagles. So this schedule isn't a gauntlet. But the thing about the Seahawks where they currently sit, the room for error is becoming is at is almost at its margin right now with them being four and four because it's not just about you chasing San Francisco who's the top of your division currently
in the number one spot. But when it comes to these wild card spots, you're chasing one of these elite teams now in the NFC North. So when you talk about this pitcher for the Seattle Seahawks, the room for error is very, very small. When you look at them currently being 500, it's the same margin as the Los Angeles Rams. This team's going to get a lot better. The Green Bay Packers, and we saw a glimpse of that with Jordan Love in the offense the other day, and Micah Parsons will be back in the lineup soon. And that is an X factor you can't even quantify. The Detroit Lions, they can
score a lot of points. It's the arms race at the quarterback position in the NFC North. And you know what? The only team that doesn't have a quarterback that's a nuclear option is the Minnesota Vikings. Okay. Exactly. He'll come around eventually. Exactly. This might be one of the more intriguing races in NFL playoff football just with the NFC because of how deep one division is, how good they are, and they can keep some of these other teams that's currently in the hunt on the outside looking in when it comes to getting the top seven spot. That's why, not to make it about the Minnesota Vikings once again.
Yeah. But there is a world in which we'll see you later. Down to in the hunt. Couple of those West teams. Wow. I'm just We haven't even seen Miles Garrett in uniform yet, guys. And Michael Parsons, you need to get to 10. Seattle, they could do it. LA, they Hey, you know what? We saw Miles Garrett in Australia, but we burn we burned the tapes from that one. Okay, this was a watershed moment of the season in these two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Bears. Again, a convincing 34 to7 victory for Chicago. Oh, let's go. Every Tuesday. Yes, sir. We got action. It's Russell Wilson, Kyle Long breaking down the biggest conversations. Mac, you like the promo?
I love the promo. And I actually had that game, the electronic football game. I had that. Yes. That's the good stuff right there. No question. What do we got coming up here on Well, we have fun every week. And this week, no different than that, we have JJ Watt. Okay. One of the goats is coming in to talk to us. We're going to talk Jeff Simmons and all things NFL. Can't wait to hear JJ Watts say nice things about the Chicago Bears. set up. Tuesdays at 2 Eastern.
