the man who's going to be able to tell us everything we need to know about this Frozen Frenzy Tuesday. All 32 teams will be playing tonight. Superstars in abundance. If you're not a hockey fan, today's a good day to find who your team is going to be as this NHL season is about to be the best season yet. Joining us now, 13-year NHL veteran stud PK Suban. Hey, sorry PK. Hey. No problem, guys. Happy to be back. Did you see that people's elbow? Did you see that people's elbow from Jamar Chase?
I did. I don't mind the extension on that. I don't What's the You know, I don't mind that. Yeah. Maybe the guy's giving fines are just here their whole lives. Yep. Yeah. You know, and this is how they live. Broer, shower. What do you mean one size is all size? So, whenever he's Hey, don't let him in the end zone, Pat. Don't let him in the end zone then. That's right. If you don't want to see how big it could be, don't let him in the paint.
All right, PK. Let's talk about the Frozen Frenzy, shall we? Uh 32 teams, 16 matchups. I don't know how many years this has been going. At least the last few. I love this. What are some of the storylines that we need to know have begun early in this year? Uh well, there's a lot of story lines. Obviously, Florida is going to be a focal point uh with the Brady Kachchuck trade and uh we saw Barov go down. We've seen Marshon go down. Now, they're not out the rest of the season, but um maybe people are changing their picks. I still think Florida's a team to beat. Uh we look at a big matchup tonight, Washington and Carolina, which we saw the first match up Washington handed it to him pretty good. So I would assume
that Carolina wants to come out and write the ship again. But you know, it's it's it's the usual suspects, you know, as usual. The McDavids, all these players are playing at the top of their game, but it's the young players for me. Uh like tonight, you got to stay up to watch that San Jose Boston game. uh Mlin Celibbrini's box office right now, but it's all the rookies. Anton Fondell in Chicago has been great. Kevin Connelly, uh Connelly in uh Vegas is doing is having an amazing year. So, you know, I think that there's a lot to watch, but specifically the young players like the game to watch tonight might be Toronto and Utah with the way McKenna has started the season and he's
kind of coming into his own. It's early, but uh it's mustwatch TV for me. I'm watching hockey every night and I can't stop. Go ahead, AJ. Uh, no. I thought that was a good end, PK. I just kind of shut you down right there. I thought it was a great end. I thought you really nailed the landing there. Then you did a little skip and go. That's on me. 16 games. I mean, my goodness. Yeah, let's lot going on. I need one for every single game. I need you to have a take for it. AJ will provide another opportunity. Go ahead, AJ.
Yes, I appreciate the overview, PK. I a comment made by Cuchov said the game is faster but dumber or but very dumb right now and he's saying it's like low IQ. What exactly does he mean by that? Is that something you agree with? Well, as a player, you understand exactly what he means by that. And I think that the game we've we put so much of a focus on, you know, doing everything super fast, but the reality is that there's probably a handful of guys in the game that can play the game at top speed and do everything at top speed, right? You watch Mlin Celibbrini, Conor McDavid play, these guys do everything at top speed. So, I still think that there's a fine art to the game that requires poise and patience and thinking and
that's why hockey is the hardest game to play in my opinion because you need all of those tools to be successful at it. And Cooerov's a blessed guy. You know, no one's going to see the game through his goggles, but you got to take the time to understand them. So, you know, there's a language barrier there, but I think what he means is that it's not always about being fast. the game has some bright spots but you know the talent is very few guys can do what Cooerov can do right so he's in a class of his own and you know when he speaks freely it's always mustsee TV so I hope we get more sound bites out of Cooch this year I know they're going to probably put the reinss on him but I'd
like a microphone in front of him after every game I really would yeah we'd like cooch to be out here a little bit louder for the good of the sport you talk about him being in a league of his own there's somebody else up breathing that air as well ahead Connor. Yeah. PK Conor McDavid. Uh I think the stat was said earlier. He's got like 13 points or 15 points through his first five games or six games. Ridiculous stuff still. Um is this the year they're finally going to get it done? Do you think the Oilers have what it takes to win a cup? I know you said Florida, but do you see them representing the West? And what should the expectation be for Edmonton this season?
Well, I listened to Mike Babcock's postgame speech after their last win. And you know, the last point that I took from his speech was we're going to get a whole lot better. And I've seen them get a lot better since the first game. Um, they're harder on the puck. They're harder to check. And, you know, there's going to be questions about how he coaches this team, right? He's putting the big guys together, expecting them to drive the bus. And then the third and fourth lines and depth guys got to do their job. So, everyone's going to have a role on that team. you're gonna have to follow uh suit and fall in line.
Uh I think that listen, Mike Babcock's a great coach. Like, who's gonna say he's not? He knows X's and O's. He knows how to get the most out of players. Uh but that's all going to be seen. I still think Edmonton has issues in net. So, their goalending issues and some of their defense, they're going to have to manage that. And those are areas that I'll be paying close attention to because when you look at the West offensive teams, San Jose is a sleeper team. You got to be careful. Utah's a sleeper team. Vegas, if they make it to the playoffs healthy, my goodness, if they can just be healthy come playoff time, they're a surefire contender. So for Edmonton, yes, I still believe that they are a true
contender um because of the coaching, because of their team and the structure that they're going to play with. Make no doubt about it. You get Conor McDavid to a conference final. It's a sprint from there. So, can they get to the conference final? I don't think there's anybody that's going to disagree with that whole season to play, but I think they're on their way. I think they're moving in the right direction. We told a lot of people, if you're not a hockey fan, find that Edmonton Oilers game on late night and watch uh 97 or whatever it is. He is outrageous. He's faster than everybody else on the ice.
He's seemingly better than everybody else on the ice. He's physical and he's going to score and get an assist in that game. and then we're never going to see him in the prime time because they're going to lose early. Is there going to be any movement on that? Is he going to get traded maybe to a team in the States? Maybe to a team like the Golden Knights or uh what should we expect from that whole situation? Great question. Uh that's completely up to the Winnipeg Jets as far as I'm concerned and what they want to do. Uh when you sign a contract as a player, uh the team has every right to make you sit or suspend you. They don't have to trade
you. So I you know I don't I want to be very careful because as a player who has missed games sitting out during a contract dispute. It's much different than being under contract and sitting out. And uh you know I don't always condone players to sit out even though I did it. But I'm gonna tell you right now in this situation, it doesn't look good to me from where I am because I look at the Winnipeg Jets who have been a top team in the National Hockey League over the past couple years going back to 2016 when I was playing with Nashville. We won the President's Trophy. They beat us in the second round. So, he was a part of that team and he was still leaky in that playoffs by the way, but I'm going
to get back to that in a second. Winnipeg has been a fantastic team. They've been a bright spot to the NHL. Their fans are awesome. I don't know what's gone on off the ice as far as people giving it to him or whatever when he came back from the Olympics, but my goodness, you sign a long-term extension like that, you don't want to play for that team. The whole concept of playing in the National Hockey Leagues to win the cup, I don't know where there's a better opportunity for him to do that other than in Winnipeg. He's had great teams in front of him. I think Connor Halabuk has to play a lot better. But to comment on the situation and where they're at right now, I don't know
what Winnipeg's going to do and I don't care. If they decide to move them, they decide to move him. If they make them sit, they make them sit. Right now, there's no pressure on Winnipeg to do anything. Their team's playing well. Uh, you know, as far as I'm concerned, they're rallying around it. We saw that Tyler Bower kid who's fighting every night. My goodness, if you get a chance to watch this kid, I watched him in the AHL. Tough as nails. But I got to give it to Winnipeg. They've rallied around it. Kyle Connor's taken his game to another level. Uh that's where I want to keep the focus on in Winnipeg. Not hella buck. Listen, he's accomplished a lot in his career. I'll give him that. But
if you're under contract, you got five years or six years on your deal and you want to sit out for a trade, that's on you. I'm not going to spend time talking about it. Once he gets moved or if he gets moved, I'll I'll visit that. There's my guy Tyler Bower. My goodness, this guy can throw him. Okay. And he looks like he likes to love that. Good for hockey. Where are you from? Just so we can get a little perspective. Where are you from, PK? I am from Canada. I'm from Toronto, Ontario. Canada. Okay. What did Halabuk do? What did Halabuk do that potentially pissed off an entire country? Just if you could remind me of what he did.
Um, well, are you talking What are you talking? I stood on his head on his absolute head to win the gold medal in the Olympics. and every American that was playing for our American NHL teams after winning the gold medal for the country. Not just that, women's and parolympics as well. We have all of them. We own hockey. So after we come back, all the lads that are playing for American teams, standing ovations, heroes welcome. They're doing the national anthem. Then immediately afterwards, speaking of America, here's some damn good Americans right here. Every way games around. Hey, how you doing?
Everywhere. How you doing? Both teams. how you doing? Then there's an American guys that had go back and play in Canada had vastly different experiences and you can understand why the Canadians would potentially feel that way about the Americans in that particular situation and why the Americans felt that way about the Americans in that situation. So, it's interesting how one achievement, one historic game by Halle Buck could potentially change a lot of stuff, but I think it did. I think it actually did from the human standpoint. But hockey has never been this super loud get me out of this town sport. So I think this is a bit abnormal, right PK?
It is definitely for me. I absolutely love Winnipeg. I love the city. I know a lot of my teammates, ex- teammates have played there. Listen, I'm not here to speak for Connor Hlebuck. He can speak for himself on his reasons for wanting out. I understand that a lot of Americanb born players want to play in their country. Brady Kachchuck, people are giving it to him. He wants to play with his brother, guys. Like, are you kidding me? Like, that's the end of the story. He wants to play with his brother. Go play. Come on. Play with your brother. In the National Hockey League and you can make an argument, you can make an argument that they haven't won a Stanley Cup and he's a big part of the reason why they haven't won. So, I'm not
saying it's all on him, but we have to look at it objectively here. We have to. If he doesn't win the gold medal, is he sitting out? Right. So, so my question is what is the reason? I want to get full details on it. Because you won an Olympic gold medal doesn't mean you get to come back and then say dictate whatever you want to do. It doesn't work that way. Not from saying that's why it matters so much. Fired up. That's why it matters so much. Four nations fun. We like four nations. We'd like to win that one too. The one over in Switzerland that you guys claim the world champ. Who cares about Okay, that's fun. You guys have done the
Olympic one. I do think it means you can walk into any barn and kind of say, "Hey, I don't want to play here anymore." How many years left on the deal? A lot. Like 10. Sounds like five. Five to six. A lot. How many years does he have left on that deal? And when did he sign it? Uh, sounds like information that we don't need to hear. Yeah, he's got five years left on that. He's got half a decade. MVP.
Uh, you're the best, PK. We app would like to let Canada know we understand it would not have been like that as bad in America because hockeyy's not our number one sport. But if it was an NFL thing and Canada won the football thing and there was Canadian teams and there was American teams and the Canadians come back into America and start, you know, I think American media and humans would have a certain feeling. Just the nature of the beast. I didn't love that Halabuk, who was our MVP in that gold medal game by far. Jack Hugh's huge goal. Halabuck, though, saw every puck, stopped every one of them. Yes, he did. 100 shots not enough. This guy went absolutely crazy. To not get the chance to experience everything all his
teammates are experiencing. He's like, "What the do I do this for?" Yeah. You're like, "Well, five years a lot of money is what you're doing it for." Okay, shut up. Go get in that net. We don't know if that's the reason. We assume. Last question here, PK, before we let you go. got to know what's going on. Go ahead, D. Yeah, PK, uh, you already mentioned Florida Panthers still your favorite to win it all. So, I assume you have confidence in March in the net. But, uh, AJ text me. He has to get the details on this shirt that you have on. We got to
know where you got this tart from. What's the brand? I know you're a fashion icon, but give AJ these details, please. He was scared to ask. You talking about this shirt here? The one I'm wearing right now? Yeah. That's not a shirt. Now, the other Simone Roa. Uh, she's doing a lot of great stuff. I love this shirt. I picked it up actually early fall. Been waiting till today to bust it out. But I also got I got my Rick Owens boots on tonight. Rick Owens. I got the Easter pants. I don't need to be seen. Tight waisted.
Tight. I'm I'm all buttoned up. I'm buttoned up today. And Pat, by the way, I wasn't going to put my outfit on until I got to studio, but I knew I was coming. Hell yes. So, I put my outfit on for the car ride just to make sure that I was looking tight and right for your show. So, the other day you were wearing something that was just so absurdly ridiculous. What was it? Was like a Dubla V. He had like a So, so let me go through that look. A lot of people had questions on that look. It's a specific look. We're really going for that kind of 60s7s Jimmy Hendris vibe.
Dree van's doing a lot of creative things right now. He's hot right now. hat really hot in the fashion world. So, it was a deep V. Uh, probably a little deeper than most people uh would wear, specifically men. Dice. Hey, Dre. Van Notton. They say when Van Notton gets the smoking in there, oh, you're going to be toting the good stuff there. Where's he from right now? Where's Van Toten? He's a Dutch. Uh, no, he's he's from the He's from I think he's same as Vivian Westwood. Yep. Yeah, he's Belgian. Belgian might be Belgian.
There's a van. That's Guten. Belgian. They speak uh they speak a lot of English over there and Flemish mostly. John Vanam. This is D van. Dre van. There he is. Dre. This is a Dre van. And what are you wearing now? You're wearing pants on. The trousers. Yeah, the trousers are crazy in that too. You can't sleep on those trousers. Those are the Burberry trousers. I'm not a big Burberry guy, but those trousers I had to have. And then it's the details, Pat, right?
Yeah. Dre is from Is that Ricky Owens on your feet? Oh, that's where my uncle lives, actually. Ricky Owens. Ricky O's always There's always a hint of the inspiration Rick Owens. Definitely. What did Moose say? Always. What did Moose say when you walked in? Okay, that's a great question. And I'm so happy you asked me that question because most people are probably like Mess probably thinks this guy's the biggest idiot and he has to work with him, right? But Mess didn't say anything. Mess is very complimentary off camera. I don't know if he'll give me the compliments on camera cuz he's got his buddies watching and stuff, but off camera he always tells me I
look great. So that's a shout out to me. I appreciate he's the best teammate. That's why he's a captain and a leader, right? He lets everybody be themselves. So great teammate. You're the man PK. Yeah, be
