Let's go ahead and show you some of the highlights here from this one. A'ja Wilson giving the Aces a two-point lead with this layup, but behind some incredible rookie play by Sydney Taylor, the Chicago Sky end up victorious here. So, look at the dagger from Taylor to put the Sky on top off the inbound with 3.2 seconds left in this game, 84 to 83 is your final score as the Chicago Sky improve to 11 and 18 on the season. A lot to unpack from this match up. For much more, let's go ahead and welcome in Ice Young who had a front row seat to
all the drama and was on the call for this one for CBS. Ice, thanks for being with us. This one, my gosh, came down to the wire. In the end, it was Chicago who came out victorious. What can you say about the way this one ended? My goodness, Jordan. First, I think I'm still in shock a little bit. I mean, that was a crazy turn of events. Uh, you know, I thought about the second half for Chicago and how their third quarter was the worst quarter that they had. And so, to see that they won the fourth quarter 29 to 18, the way that they bounced back, one, got stops defensively, two, multiple players sharing a scoring role, but then, three, Sydney Taylor. I mean, the amount of
experience that this rookie has had throughout the first half of the season, she has been put in tough positions before and has not had the same uh success. And so, to see her today still have the confidence to know that she's got a chance to win the game was amazing. Uh my favorite thing about this was that Chicago went for the win. I had it right before Jordan had asked me right before they were throwing the ball in bounds, what should they do? And I said go for the kill because you've got one of the best teams in the W on the road and you have the ball in your hands. And so I love that they didn't elect to go for two and tie it up and take it to overtime. I love that coach Marsh trusted his rookie and they drew up a
perfect play with space, with great timing to get her the basketball and she did the rest. This is a huge game and we talk about standings maybe and where Chicago is in those and this is the type of game that propels them to maybe go on a run a little bit and put some pressure on some other teams. I love that shot that we just showed and I think you pointed it out on the broadcast on CBS. So cool to see the vet Natasha Cloud and Sydney Taylor just embrace that play and that victory. So with that it's now time for our player of the game presented by CarMax shop by sell your way want to drive CarMax ice. Of course it has to be Sydney Taylor with that dagger I but again it's hard to believe that she is
just a rookie. How is she pulling this off? She's fearless. You know, sometimes you don't know what you don't know as a rookie and so to me that's the best thing that she's got going for her is that other players don't know her game as much because she's a rookie. She has played overseas professionally and so she's played against high level competitors and high level basketball but to me it's the trust factor. I don't think she would be shining right now if there wasn't a trust factor with the team, with her head coach to put her in these positions to be successful. And so I think as much credit as we give to Sydney Taylor on being the player of the game, I think we have to give some of
that to Tyler Marsh for making the right reads and the right execution to put the ball in her hands. But I mean Taylor with 29 points, she had five threes and started the game off a little bit slow but she kept hunting her shots, stayed aggressive. I love the poise that we're seeing out of this young lady and Becky Hammon told us before the game that she expects Sydney Taylor to have a long career in the W because of what she has, the skill set she has, and where she can grow, and I couldn't agree more. She's been one of my favorite players that we've seen play this season now for the second time up close.
Yeah, and how lucky are we to watch this each and every year as it continues. Isis Young, thanks so much for joining us here live on CBS Sports HQ. Go get that heart rate down just a little bit after this one. We appreciate it.
