How I Compiled a Decade of Travel Memories Into One Scrapbook in a Week

The creator shares her process of making a travel scrapbook that compiles memories from ten years of travel. She gathered materials like boarding passes, ticket stubs, and photos, then organized them by country. Using watercolors, stickers, and washi tape, she created double-page spreads for each destination. The project took a week and helped her relive favorite trips while providing a creative outlet. She encourages others to try scrapbooking without overthinking it.

I made a 10 YEAR TRAVEL SCRAPBOOK in one week... | Travel Crafts DIY. | Transcript:

well good morning okay this video has been so long overdue I purchased scrapbook materials over a year ago and they've just been sat around because I didn't want to sit down organize how to do it because it's a bit of a process but I mean I have no excuse for a lack of time anymore do I there's been the first scrapbook I ever made and I thought I'd just walk you through the process of how I'm collating a decade worth of travel into one book as things first though I had to organize all of the things that I had collected from around the world so these included boarding passes ticket stubs things like that had crowned away in little folders and drawers around the house for a lady a piece of a4 paper and wrote down the name of each

country I had visited on them and then that was an easy way for me to be like okay that was USA that was Morocco - Trina's here and then put them all over the floor and then collect them fold the a4 paper in half and have like a little handmade folder for them yesterday I am had a quick look in my memory boxes and found so much more I'm so glad I checked in there were so many ticket stubs flight tickets and AFL game tickets things like that and I forgot I had all of that stuff there so have a really good look for anything that you've collected in the beginning I collected everything I kept every ticket stub of absolutely anything we ever went to and then I stopped doing it when we were

like living on the road because I just couldn't justify keeping all of that stuff on me at all times so after doing that and also collecting a photographs I previously printed and putting them into the folders as well I went on to I used shears this time so I use a random mixture of three websites I use free prints where you get free prints every month you just pay postage it's an app on your phone it's really good sponsored by no on by the way and Cheers amazing quality always fantastic and that's who I used this time and also true prints are a really good one as well their printing quality is fantastic so I ordered all those and with the current situation it took quite a while for them

to come but we finally have them next I wanted to paint every page now I'm not good at painting but I had some watercolors that I got from the works age go and I just have fun so I just did a test page just to see if this is gonna work so I've got my cheap little watercolors I got them from livers for four pounds each to go and yeah just mix it up with some water did like a splatter effect and I'm gonna put like a decade of travel there text photos and yeah I think you look really good and then just go through every page and just you know just get messy it didn't come through that bad you can't see that but it's fine

so on one page I do like a block of color and then the next page I would just like splatter paint and keep that going okay so let's talk about supplies I picked up this book from Paper Chase you know Alba have a close up it's a world map one and I still got a sticker on it cost me 12 pounds pretty expensive but I mean it's got 40 pages so 80 in total so all of the supplies I only got from tiger the works or Poundland now Pineland is good for bits and bobs works is amazing and they are delivering still so dunno what I'm gonna do with all this I picked a two little packs of these little luggage tags just will be cute

little add-ons I got these like airmail little envelopes I think I got these for my book launch party actually i'm kyra member buffing these were actually off ebay and they're like 50 P a pack or something there'd be cute to put a little stubs in I don't know what figure though but as I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to scrapbooking everything I saw people like to use different types of paper to go underneath photos so I think most of these were from perryland and but like you get all these like sheets and you can cut them up and put them behind photos or have text on them right on them so I've got some nice purple ones this one's definitely from Pineland all of these colors and patterns some cool

tropical beach ones yeah loads of stuff and I just I think this is from a photo frame but I kept it I thought that was cool we could use up some tape map tape world map tape don't know if I'm gonna use it but we have met Carmen where I got that one from I actually picked up in Australia I was going to fill it in it's a mail it map I Carmen beware all right picked it up in Australia but you're meant to fill it out with your new adventures and post it back home but didn't do that did I so I've had this for a very long time so I thought okay cut that up or do something cool with that map and then we have stickers oh does she have stickers she's got stickers for days and do I have to explain stickers I don't think I do but

this is my favorite pack quite bulky this is gonna be one thick book this is kind of like travel one you can markup this on eBay as well yeah loads of fun with these stickers oh look they're fightin also got some packs of cards and colorful some black we all know which I'm gonna lean towards now when it came to sticking everything down you know whether to use Pritt stick or PVA but I had a feeling that they weren't gonna last that long and they'd be quite messy so over on Instagram so many of you suggested double-sided tape now this is three rolls of tape picked it up off Amazon I think there's about five or four all three so you got I don't if you see stop oh the children so we are going to use this which will be hopefully nice and easy

and then keep everything secure oh my god I've also got some sticker paper which I'm going to print out all of the names and the countries that we're going to be including because Sharpie goes straight through everything it bleeds leg of each and so I did test there and go straight through the page so I don't know write in sharpie and I will print out in a nice bold font each name now on sticker paper we just stick them up anyway let's get arranging let's just jump right into this now look - how much stuff I have for each country and wrote down how many pages each country will take up some will just take one and some countries I wait - I can't find anything that I had so I might not even include

them in the book but we're gonna see how it goes and I had quite a few pages left over after I tallied everything up so I thought for certain ones I could do a story page like for Indonesia when I witness man ma there and that can fill some of the book up and I'll type add some erm Lowell a lot of fun stories like the time I love yous got lost in Belize and that'll fill the book up a little bit more alright let us begin a little while later and I'm not gonna lie deciding how to arrange a single page takes so long and you know I was worried about being like really thick the book this page alone because it's all about layering you must layer the ticket stubs with the

photos oh this book is gonna be like this y'all can't see like this huge I'm gonna have to break this binder off and rebind it myself I know it's I just know that is where he's coping first page of Australia many more to go okay so as we're gonna do another double page spread now the page one is done and I thought we could use this map of Australia cut it and then cut around in for two halves I'm gonna have two cuts has main your app alright I'm sorry it has made me a cup mania you're not gonna fit I've done the math going it off it

look at your towel you junkie oh you are lopsided girl mm-hmm you are so lopsided yes I am shaming saw that the shape of the country right now right straight down the middle that does we practiced ah that looks so cool you gotta go you gotta go okay so the book is 95% finished and I am all ready to show you I have spent about a week doing this that is why this video is so late and I'm so sorry there are some parts look I think she is oh my god there are some parts that I didn't finish off just yet I wanted to stick this in and I'll be ready to show you so I'll just show you the parts that aren't finished yet the first four pages I got these printed out so it's going to be like little stories and on some pages

so if you see any blanks that's why I ran out of ink and I couldn't write them I suppose handwrite them but I want to like do the people we met and talk about them the locals we met the food we ate and the love we found which is Scott and I and that's all I food and drink and just like I'm blessed you know the stories might be personal I just want to be awesome right whatever I want and it doesn't have to be on camera and there's also some blank pages after some of the big countries where I can sit down and write like living in Hungary or living in Thailand and things like that so having done those yet but the rest is finished and I am ready to show you I'm so proud of it oh my

god okay so proud of this book like honestly I surprised myself with my creativity this is my favorite double page spread and with that old Australia map I cut it in half and I tried to keep like east coast photoz and west coast as best as possible and yeah I just absolutely loved it and apparently loads of people who saw this on my Instagram so we're saying like these are like vintage now no because you don't have them anymore but I just taking this trip down memory lane was just amazing really to see the past 10 years of all the places I've been the people it's the people that I met you know just seeing all their beautiful faces again the other one of my favorites is Canada I cut myself out twice it's just like a

permission to be crazy creative and it's helped my mental health so much just coming into this office every day sing down and taping and gluing everything in just an FYI double-sided sticky tape was definitely the right choice thank you for everyone who recommended it there is no mess with this and it sticks really well the finding my photos from my first trips ever like look at me so young my first ever trip to Croatia like eight years ago this is one of my favorites as well and these envelopes are such an amazing way and I think I'll glue yes I did glue them in and I have loads of photos this could be one little tip for you I've loads of photos of me holding things up in front of a background very

trained Instagram so it's good to get them printed and then you can cut around your hand so I have these like leaflets which with a really nice backdrop but I cut the backdrop out and my passport and stuff like that and also these little tags I think I got these from Tiger actually and those will be filled in with like dates and things like that also I used a lot of the stickers that I purchased but I only really needed like one pack of stickers I didn't use them in that much pretty much the only picture I have of me in Berlin yeah it's just so much fun and I'm so grateful that I kept like ticket stubs and boarding passes like I think I said start the video I didn't collect most of my tickets and

boarding passes because by the time we'd left New Zealand it was just becoming stupid to carry them all around with me so I stopped collecting it would have been amazing to have kept like every boarding pass I ever had ever but I didn't but I still have a load leftover as well after this book so I did I am glad that I did keep some of them and it's a card from ishi you know just keeping your bus passes and things like that this is another one of my favorite double-page spreads in India I didn't realize I kept all of my plane boarding passes from India and also his washi tape was so much fun to use when I decided to actually use it and it has a really nice effect as well I'm gonna

pick that up on eBay or anywhere really and she's like an antique map design and also it doesn't matter if you can't find photos from everywhere because clearly this book is not a deep representation of the past ten years of my travels and it's not going to be oh that's funny Singapore if you know you know so I'm going to put my story in there of my experience getting dengue fever saw nothing of Singapore I have nothing to show for me being in Singapore except to this photo right here these tests were done in Malaysia this right here see a wall a

book Karl encapsulates absolutely everything it can just serve as a beautiful little trip down memory lane because you'll have thousands of stories and memories that you'll never fit in any book so don't try work with what you've got because if you against that line of thinking that it's not perfect it doesn't show everywhere I've been and every moment I don't have pictures of that person I met or enough pictures with this country to make a book that just stops you from ever making a book like this so work with what you've got print as many pictures as you can and just have fun with it that's the whole point in all of this is to have fun I can't believe I found train tickets

the overnight train tickets from Bangkok to Chiang Mai make my departure cards from Thailand which are stamped you know my travel cards and everything but for some countries I had like nothing chin easier all I could find was Scott's one of Scott's boarding passes but that's ok it doesn't matter just here to have fun with it so there you have it that is my decade of travel scrapbook I really hope you enjoyed this video I can't wait to put this video together it was just so much fun to reminisce and - I found it because I've got so much time now that

it just allowed me to I don't know it gave my brain some space you know gave my bracelet space and it really liked crafting right now is my jam because it gives me a sense of peace it keeps me busy but not in a destructive way and especially when it comes like scrapbooking it just brings back all the fields and liquid memories and you just get lost in this for hours and hours this will take you so long to do and if anyone has a tip on what I should do I don't want to rebind it god you imagine how to rebind all of that any tips let me know but for now she just has to have her stories cut in oh my good my gosh she's so big that dad won't even hold her down they set on the coffee table whenever I want I can pull it out be good you know friends and family want

to see you and one day I'll pass this on to someone you know maybe pee and yeah regardless of what happens to it now the process was absolutely so much fun and I 100% recommend it and I'll try and link as much as I can for the supplies and down below in the description like the tape and whatever I can find but like I said I brought most this stuff from either the works ebay tiger the book with some Paper Chase so suddenly I might not be able to find anymore but I'll try and get some options of similar things and put them down below for you do you have anything like this at home please let me know and one more thing I'd like to say at the end of this if you're thinking about doing this

my advice is stop overthinking it I was like how on earth am I gonna do in one it's not gonna represent all of my travels from the past ten years then I was like how do I order it in the places I've been which wouldn't make any sense because I've been to some places multiple times so all that country pop up and that just didn't make sense this is a decade of travel so I decide to just do it alphabetically and it didn't matter even if I only had one photo for that country I'm sure there is a story behind that photo I can write underneath stop overthinking it just start doing it I hope this video helped you I was my first time making a scrapbook but I'm yeah I'm glad I sat down and organized everything I could possibly find first

made it so much easier and yeah I just popped on some friends or opals and horse in the background and we just get to work and yeah I've loved it so I hope you enjoyed this travel craft video and then we know if you are saying similar down below are your scrapbook aficionado so the right thing I don't know anymore I don't know what day is it's blurs days I'm sorry I forgot yeah I will see you in the next video I'm so proud and she's so weighty all right loving leaving shutting up now I hope you're all stay safe staying strong and I will see you in the next one all right
