There's three Olympics, three Olympians, pardon me, in this field. Adele Tracy is one of those on the inside. So too is Camille Laos of Belgium in lane two. McKenna Keegan. And then moving a little further out is Beckford and Bisong and Hunter and Watson. Women's 800 meters away. Malone is going to be easy to spot in lane five. She's the tallest in the field and she's also in that bright pink and she has asserted herself in this first 100 and she will take the lead. And that's what you want to do. I think
you want to get out strong, get to the break early so you don't have to worry about tussling with anyone early in the race and so she's certainly done that. But on her wide outside there, that's Watson. No, that's the pacer. So they added a pacer to this race. I noticed that there was someone else in lane nine. So that's the pacer who has taken the lead doing her duties for the first 400. Settling into the early race rhythm and Bong sits back in fourth place at the moment. Now coming up is Maloney on the rail there. So Maloney's done all the hard work getting them through the first 400, but only 56 at the break. So it's not like
this is a pace that anybody in this race cannot handle, including Maloney as they set off now with just over 300 to go. I have to think the heat is certainly affecting the 800 meter runners because they do not look like they have that bounce and that spring. They're not attacking the 800 as we're used to. But we talk about wins. A lot of times in your season when you're training, you want to get on the track and you just want to practice winning. And so that's what it's all about for these athletes right now. Kellyanne Beckford has run a good race. The Jamaican sits in second all in black there. And she's trying to go with Shafi Maloney. But Maloney's got a good gap at the moment. And then Victoria Bong in
the yellow top and the yellow arm sleeve is trying to hang on the rail on the inside, but Maloney is gone. And this is her trademark. She brings those arms up in the home straightaway and it's not very often she gets past and she is not going to be passed here this afternoon in College Station. McKenna Keegan's digging deep fighting for second place but it's Shafiqua Maloney of St. Vincent and the Grenardines with a comprehensive win. Yeah, that's just off her personal best and national record 1572 that she set last year. So a very successful two laps here for Miss Maloney. So, I got to take that back a little bit. She really finished strong. You know, it looked like the pace was a bit
slow in the beginning, but she maintain. Look at her arm drive. Like you mentioned, she's actually separating, but what's really happening, what we're seeing is the other athletes are slowing down at a faster rate and she's just able to maintain. But what a great run for her and a really big win for Fiwa. And what I think she'll say is, "Look, if I can run in this oppressive heat and get this close to my personal best, my training is going well, and I think I'm ready to set a personal best somewhere else on the circuit." Yeah. And for the women who finished second, third, and fourth did a great job. It was a really tight run. All personal bests. And we'll show you those times right now. They were chasing the best
that they could, but Shafiqua Maloney just had too much of a gap. So we're talking about Kellyanne Beckford, Victoria Bassong, and McKenna Keegan. All terrific results there. Nice victory. Hey, Lewis. Very nice victory. We're talking about that. Shafiqua, just tell me about this. Despite the conditions, come out here and run as strong as you did and dominate in the 800 meters. Um, you know, I put in the work. My training partner ran 1577 at the Enzo Bay Regionals. We trained together. So, I knew she did great. And, you know, I
could kind of tell where I'm at based on her. Right. And so I see Har and motivate me to come out here and do what I needed to do as well. Right. We've been talking about the US athletes not having a world or an Olympics to get ready for this year, but you have the Commonwealth Games. You just reminded me of that. So how does this race play into the journey toward that? You know, we started practicing December. So every race is a stepping stone to get where we're trying to be at by the, you know, by the comes by World Ultimate Championship. So you know, it's good to come out here and be able to execute and go back to the
drawing board and see where we can improve. Well, you definitely executed. Congratulations and good luck this season. Thank you very much. Appreciate it.
