Tornado Watch Issued for Prairie Regions as Severe Storms Develop

A tornado watch is in effect across the Prairies as severe thunderstorms develop. Conditions are favorable for tornadoes, especially in areas like Yorkton, Regina, Brandon, and Dolphin. Damaging winds and large hail are also possible. Storms are expected to continue into the night, becoming linear over time.

Active weather watch continues across the prairies as we have another day of severe weather. Now, we had the ingredients in store to see a tornado through the afternoon. We do see the risk of that tornadoes and currently there is a tornado watch in place. So, what does this mean in comparison to a warning? With a watch, that means we have the conditions favorable to possibly be seeing some of those tornadoes. With a warning, it means that these conditions are eminent. We could be seeing those warnings pop up especially in the severe likely zone areas such as Yorkton, Regina, Brandon, and Dolphin. If you live in these areas, you want to keep your eyes. In terms of the timing of this system, we're going to continue to be tracking these severe thunderstorms as they pop up into the afternoon and continuing into the overnight. First, we start to see those heavy rainfalls start to push in 5 to 6 pm central time. And they'll continue into the overnight, becoming more linear as time progresses.
