In this edition of One Weekly, as the new interim One Featherweight Muay Thai world champion, we look back on Nico Carrillo's journey in earning the crown that put the king in King of the North. Welcome to One Weekly. Born in Spain and raised in Scotland, Nico Carrillo discovered his passion for Muay Thai and traveled to Thailand to pursue his championship dreams. He became an overnight sensation after securing back-to-back knockout victories during his debut year in 2023 before facing the biggest opponent of his career yet.
I am the King of the North. I'm the best in Scotland. I have been for a very long time now. NICO CARRILLO CAPTURES THE BIGGEST WIN OF HIS YOUNG CAREER. THE KING OF THE NORTH. Put me in a deep end. Put me in with the best. Let me show you that I can do that. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, YOU'RE LOOKING AT YOUR LOOT BY THE WEIGHT KING. I believe no one is more special than anyone else, but I do think his age will show in this fight. Now, a lot of people think that Nico Carrillo is just a big powerhouse, but I have a very high IQ as well. I've beat Thais at their own game. He's had the fame, he's had the money, he's had the belts. I just believe it's time to pass
the torch. It's just time for the new generation. Carrillo pushed the pace, but the Thai legend matched his aggression in the opening round. MOVEMENT COMPROMISED for Carrillo as Nong-O continues to beat up the lead leg. Carrillo pushing forward with the hand combinations. With his back against the wall, Carrillo was determined to turn the tables in round two. It is imperative that Nico go southpaw. AND HE'S STILL GOING AFTER THE REAR LEG as he lands a big RIGHT HAND. CARRILLO CAN'T EVEN PUT hardly any weight on that leg. Oh my gosh, he's still catching him with a bunch, but it's unbelievable how fast Nong-O has
hurt that thing. I think that was a lead elbow that from Carrillo that caught Nong-O clean. FINDS HIMSELF ON THE ROPES AGAIN. NONG-O NEEDS TO BE CAREFUL HERE. CARRILLO TRYING TO PUT NONG-O AWAY. HE'S ON WOBBLY LEGS. NICO CARRILLO DIGGING DEEP AS HE CONTINUES TO LAND BRUTAL HEAD [screaming] SHOTS. NONG-O SMILES IT OFF, DIGS TO THE BODY. HAS TO MOVE. NONG-O IS KEEPING HIS BACK UP AGAINST THE ROPES AS NICO CARRILLO CONTINUES TO TEE OFF. GAME-CHANGING POWER IS WHAT NICO CARRILLO POSSESSES.
A SHARP ELBOW FROM CARRILLO CHANGES THE MOMENTUM OF THIS BOUT. NGOO HOLD ON. GOES BACK TO ATTACKING THAT LEAD LEG, BUT CARRILLO STILL POSSESSES POWER FROM THAT SOUTHPAW STANCE. YEAH, Ngoo needs to stay out of the corner at all costs. He's done such great damage to that leg, but somehow Carrillo is still able to stand and let THE HANDS GO. Ngoo showcasing A VERY DURABLE CHIN, BUT SITS DOWN. NICO CARRILLO KO IN TWO. FOLLOWING HIS KNOCKOUT of Ngoo, Carrillo aimed to add another Thai veteran to his hit list and squared off against Sam-A-Pet.
The Scottish star went relentless and forced Sam-A-Pet to settle for counter attacks. And they both exchange. Well, forget the pleasantries. They are now just going to battle. Oh, good head movement from Sam-A-Pet, but he's got Put it up. There's a knee LANDED BY CARRILLO. CARRILLO HAS SAM-A-PET HURT. KNEES, three knees for Carrillo. Well, Sam-A-Pet's tough. In round two, King of the North remained active, aiming to maintain his perfect finish rate. Battle of eight Muay Thai, number one ranked Nico Carrillo, number four ranked Sam-A-Pet. Man, like everybody else in this stadium, I'm on the edge of my seat. I'm sure everybody at home is too when Nico starts coming forward and these two start exchanging.
Nico shakes off the inside leg kick that Sam-A-Pet tries to swing in, but I like that inside leg kick. Keep touching the legs of Carrillo. Sam-A-Pet with the fake, right? Carrillo still pressing forward. Sam-A-Pet unloads a straight left and he comes forward. See, that's what he needs to try to do. He needs to get Carrillo moving backwards. You don't want Carillo There's A LEFT HAND.
BEAUTIFUL SHOT. SEE, YOU KEEP HIM COMING forward like that, that momentum carries through into his shots. Carillo has dropped Sam-A-Pet. And you know he's going to want to go and try to finish off the number four ranked Thai star. The confidence is oozing out of Carillo right now. You can see the way he's baiting him WITH THE HAND. WOW. NEEDS TO STAY STRICT THOUGH. Keep those hands minding his P's and Q's because Sam-A-Pet still dangerous. Look at the nose busted up a little bit on Carillo. Again he fires off that left hand. I would even say Sam-A-Pet's even more dangerous when he's hurt.
Just over the halfway mark of the second. Ties him up inside the clinch. Carillo gets up on that front foot, starts walking Sam-A-Pet down. There's a left HOOK DOWN GOES SAM-A-PET FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THE ROUND. THREE KNOCKDOWNS IN A ROW EQUALS A TKO. ONE MORE IS ALL CARILLO NEEDS. AND CARILLO GOES RIGHT AFTER HIM. THERE'S A LEFT HOOK BY CARILLO. DANGEROUS SHOTS, GRAY. Look at that. ALL RIGHT, DOWN GOES SAM-A-PET AND THIS ONE IS OVER. NICO CARILLO [screaming] HAS KNOCKED DOWN NUMBER FOUR ranked Sam-A-Pet for another mesmerizing performance.
Still to come, Nico Carillo continues the chase for his first ONE world title. You are watching ONE Weekly. Interim ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion, Nico Carrillo, is one of the most exciting finishers in ONE history. After a sensational run in the bantamweight division, Nico Carrillo shifted his focus to conquering another division. In November 2025, he squared off against Luke "The Chef" Lessei in a high-stakes featherweight matchup. Nico Carrillo making his featherweight debut. Ready to put all other featherweights on notice. A PIERCING BODY SHOT BY CARRILLO.
WELCOME TO THE FEATHERWEIGHT DIVISION. The king of the north, Nico Carrillo. After that Sergio Fair, I was just happy with what had happened in featherweight. I'm striking much cleaner, my technique's a lot better. I'm faster and I'm hitting much harder. I don't really think too much about the on-paper rankings. I think he might be surprised by my size and my height and my reach. I can't speak for Nico. I'm not sure what he's going to learn. I'm just going to teach him some Muay Thai. That's about it.
Ooh, [groaning] BIG RIGHT HAND, HE HAD AN ELBOW OVER THE TOP. MY GOODNESS, DOWN GOES AMASOLO. Nothing's given. Everything's earned. I've took no easy fights. I've took the hard road. Luke Lessei, this is a man in the way of me reaching a title fight. I'm grateful for Nico because it's forced me to work really hard. I've found strengths within myself through this process. It's going to be a combination of everything. It's been an amazing year getting married to my beautiful wife. The perfect way to finish this year would be knocking out Luke Lessei and getting told I've made it to the top of the mountain again. I definitely want to
inspire my kids. As much as it's hard to be away from them, I want to show them what life actually chasing this dream would be. I want to be people's favorite fighter not for just the success, but because I'm just a regular a that like watches kids and wants to do good Muay Thai for people that watch. Despite Leesy's reach advantage, Carrillo kept a close distance and punished him with his ferocious boxing. Those elbows early you talked about on the walk, Brian. Nasty elbow already being shown by Nico Carrillo as another snappy push kick, another one of your keys, Brian.
Your keys are really showing up and showing off as Luke Leesy is pumping that lead hand. Wow, going to work on that lead leg, using a lot of low kicks as Leesy and I really like it. Not just to the quad, but also to the calf and look how he's moving on the outside. He is really looking to use his height and range so far in this first round and I like it. I like the leg kicks as well. We've seen what kind of damage those do in the past, but this is where Nico is so dangerous as he whips an airball over the top of Luke Leesy's head. The pressure from Carrillo is on display, but the movement and elusiveness of Luke
Leesy is definitely Right now, right up inside the kitchen of the chef is Nico Carrillo as he goes to work with the hands. Dominant control inside that clinch, really yanking down on the frame of Luke Leesy. Wow, Carrillo is so dangerous when he catches anyone in the corner. So, Leesy really needs to make sure that he is not there. He did a good job of getting out, but all it takes is one sharp elbow from Carrillo. You can see him So, here he's switching his stance. That leg's hurting. Yeah, that leg is not It's already caused him a little bit of a hobble as Luke Leesy has been able to
touch that lead leg and now he's going to work on the other one with those SNAPPY LITTLE KICKS AS NICO CARRILLO CONTINUES to maul for He doesn't care about his lower body. He will EAT THOSE SHOTS, BUT HE'S GOT to start checking some of those. Well, great start for Leesy, just mauling the calf early of Carrillo. He's doing a good job of covering up. Maybe eating a few too many shots in the corner. He just needs to get out of there right away. Doesn't want TO BE THERE. WOW. [screaming] WAS HE DOWN WHEN HE THREW THE KNEE? Didn't look like it. Count being initiated by referee Chris out of Pontoon. That's one knockdown. HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE LEGS. HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE PAIN. HE MARCHES FORWARD LIKE WILLIAM WALLACE ON
THE WARPATH LOOKING TO END THE NIGHT OF HIS OPPONENT AS HE LANDS A BIG RIGHT HAND AS LEESY RETREATS. YEAH, Leesy needs to move on the ropes, pump his jab. He's doing A GREAT JOB WITH THE LOW KICKS, BUT Carrillo catches them AND GETS HIM IN THE CORNER AND FIRES BACK. THAT LOOKED LIKE A STUMBLE. Just upended him with the catch of the kick as Leesy goes up TOP AGAIN. LEESY eats another big left hand as we go to the stools after a very exciting first 3 minutes. Carrillo stuck to his game plan in round two. Those shots hit. Yeah, needs to move. Needs to be elusive. Needs to get that head off line because Nico continues to hunt and a walk down the shaft.
The shaft fires off that right hand, but Leesy just stays there, covers up, shells up, and gets under siege as he looks TO SPIN, BUT NICO CARRILLO IS LANDING BIG SHOTS ON LEESY IN THE CORNER WHO'S TRYING TO RELY ON HIS CHIN AND TOUGHNESS TO HANDLE THIS ONSLAUGHT THAT'S COMING HIS WAY. YEAH, THE POWER IS just different from Carrillo. This is where Leesy needs to pump that jab and GET OUT OF DODGE. Nico Carrillo cuts off the angle, cuts off the escape route for Leesy as Leesy needs to get rid of those project armbands. It almost looks like they're INTERFERING WITH HIS HAND WORK RIGHT HERE as Nico CARRILLO CONTINUES TO SWARM. SPINNING
BACK ELBOW LANDED BY LEESY who is ENGAGING IN CLOSE RANGE WARFARE WITH THE KING OF THE NORTH. THAT WAS A great technique it landed by Carrillo so tough so durable. He knows what he needs to do. Just press him into the corner and let his power fly. But Luis here just not wearing the damage well not liking the power of the opponent shots. Nico going to the body and back up to the head. Wisely composed picking his shots clean. Oh nice straight right hand landed by the Chef right there as Nico continues to elevate levels change going to the body back up top. Mixing things up nicely. The Chef needs to stay out of the corner. Do not allow himself to get backed UP LIKE THAT.
LUIS HE'S STILL firing some good techniques but it's his composure right now. He looks hurt. He looks a little bit tired. This is where he needs to be confident and move stick out that jab. Still work the leg but not get caught in the corner not eat these shots. Target practice from Nico Carrillo. Such a slick job of just staying composed landing big shots and the body shots have got to be just punching holes in the gas tank of the Chef. 1 minute to go. Lands a nice spinning back fist right there. Luis he's looking really tired. Just not COMPLETELY COMPOSED BUT STILL THOSE INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUES THE spinning techniques still landing his elbows all
dangerous but just getting driven back into the corner again. He's got the logo of Carrillo but not able to take advantage of it. Forcing Nico to switch BACK TO SOUTHPAW. OH BIG RIGHT HAND WOBBLES LUIS PALOMINO. THE KNEES CONTINUE TO FOLLOW INSIDE THE CLINCH. GETTING RAINED ON GOES TO DIRTY BOXING AND KICKS OUT OF TOWN. CALLS A HALT TO THE MATCH DONE in the second. Wow Brian what a performance. Successful in his second featherweight match, Carrillo proved he was ready for the bright lights. In February 2026, Carrillo challenged fellow top contender
Shadow for the interim divisional Muay Thai world title. For me it's always been the same. It's always been to have gold over my shoulder. Oh! NOW SHADOW'S ON FIRE. CARRILLO WALLOPS WITH A BIG RIGHT HAND AND DOWN HE GOES AND THIS ONE IS OVER! AND THEN AFTER GOING THROUGH A BIT of a shaky moment Nico looks bewildered. but I think it's an even cooler story that I got to the pinnacle Meteoric rise from Nico Carrillo. fell off, back to the bottom of the mountain as he ends the 15 fight win streak of Nico Carrillo. had to restart, climb up again to prove to people that as long as you don't give up and have a goal, chase it
with a relentless effort that you can make things happen. OH! BIG RIGHT HAND! NICO CARRILLO is landing BIG SHOTS AND PIERCING BODY SHOTS BY CARRILLO AND IT'S OVER! WELCOME BACK TO THE FEATHERWEIGHT DIVISION, THE KING OF THE NORTH! IF I'VE GOT this golden opportunity again, I won't miss this time. [clears throat] OH! ANOTHER BIG SHOT SHADOW. AND IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND DOWN HE GOES AND THE WAY HE'S EATING IT UP, THAT IS IT!
IT'S all over. Marat Van Nieuwenhuizen, everybody is mad about it, isn't it? BEAUTIFUL SHOT. [screaming] OH MY GOODNESS. I CAN BRING MY power out in any fight and put anybody away. I want to make this fight as beautiful and as perfect as I can. Yodwicha is just all round good. He's good at everything. He's obviously a rising up and young champion before he came to ONE. He's just been on the same kind of trajectory as myself. I definitely feel there's no redemption. I need to prove a point to myself. The fans can expect me, King of the North, to get his hand raised.
Shadow led the match early with his precise kicking. The hometown hero landed a big left hook and put Gorillo on the back foot. He takes his time, but then when he catches What a shot. That left hook has Nico Gorillo, the King of the north, on the rematch lead. After the first two rounds, Carrillo forced a change in momentum with his trademark boxing. Back foot very effective. Carrillo again eating the shot. Not dissuaded. Moving into his dangerous range, but Shadow's guard is tight. Nico is constant. Nico catches, fires an elbow. Carrillo sought to finish strong in the final round.
The fifth and final round is here. I honestly thought we would not see a fifth and final round, Brian, but I cannot I'm so excited we get to see it. Shadow needs to dig very deep here. He needs to reclaim the momentum. He needs to find, you know, some kick some stamina to keep pressing. He's got to dig deep and he's got to do some damage. He needs a knockdown. 100% he needs a knockdown. Nico Carrillo, even if he's up on the scorecards, even if we go to a tie in the count, the big shot was landed by Nico in that fourth round. He needs to finish or knockdown Carrillo here in this fifth.
Shadow is fighting exactly like that, continuing to push forward. Catching the kick there, but the tables turned as Carrillo looks for the elbow. Shadow is going to continue to keep this methodical pressure. But it needs to not just be single shots. He's got to set it up a little bit. Pump that jab. Then step in on a one-two. Leg kick checked again by Nico. Looks for the push kick, can't quite find it. Two minutes to go in the fifth and final round for the interim featherweight Muay Thai world championship. I know the current champion, Tawanchai, is at home
resting his leg. That's why we have the interim belt, but he's keeping a very close eye on this matchup. Carrillo pressing forward, getting a little wild there. Left to the body for left to the head. Shadow looks reinvigorated, Brian. Another caught kick by Nico. That's what opened up the big right hand for the knockdown in the fourth. Yeah, Shadow needs to continue charging. Wow, big front kick snapping the head back of Shadow. Oh, JAB TO THE BODY. Cracking the forehead of Shadow with that right hand.
Yeah, but damage and the fatigue really showing again here from Shadow. He was pressing early in the round, but it's hard to stay on that front foot. Carrillo inviting him, moving. Oh, look at That's the technique that Shadow used to knock out Bunk Muar Koyate with that high kick to the spinning back fist. Nico's reaching in and using his own tricks against him. 40 seconds to go in the fifth and final round. Shadow has to push. He has to create SOME URGENCY. OH, AND ANOTHER ONE. BUT NOT A KNOCKDOWN BY KRITSADA PONTUS, THEY SLIPPED.
Another big moment for Carrillo though. Beautifully timed that perfect counter to the kick like he's been looking for. And he's got 25 full seconds NOW WITH SHADOW CAUGHT IN THE CORNER. It's up to Carrillo what he wants to do with it. Checking the legs. Nico wants the knockout. He wants the finish. UPPERCUT LANDED. SHADOW SMILES. WALKS FORWARD, EATS THE LEG KICK. KICK CHECKED BY NICO. AND we go to the scorecards after a very entertaining five-round battle. But, Brian, the fourth round, that knockdown of Shadow by Nico Carrillo could be the decisive factor.
YOUR WINNER BY YOUR DECISION, AND NOW THE INTERIM ONE FEATHERWEIGHT MUAY THAI CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, NICO [screaming] FOLLOWING THE UNANIMOUS DECISION win over Shadow, the king of the north finally earned his crown. The new interim featherweight Muay Thai world champion demonstrated an important lesson in life. Oh my god. Dreams come true, people. Yeah. Oh, I can't even I don't even have any words right now. Dreams come true. Like I said to all of you before the fight, it doesn't matter if you fail as long as you never quit, and you chase your dreams with a relentless effort and
attitude. The world is your oyster. Anything you can make anything come true.
