Uh we watched the game tonight. Everton come uh through the Caribel Cup. They're into the quarterfinal. Newcastle, it's all gone a bit sour quickly, hasn't it? I don't know. I watched them obviously against Spurs and they won the game and they were they played well second half. Don't know if this I don't know if the fans are having this guy. Um I said at the start of the season something's not quite right at Newcastle. They've got really rich owners. They can't spend the money.
They've lost Isak. They've lost uh Gimmerez. They've lost some good players. And uh what's happening with this table? I can hear squeaking. Wait, why is it so squeaky? Kundi's not under the table, is it? I don't know. The table just got proper squeaky. I mean, this place falling apart. Anyway, without you know, Everton, well done to Everton. You got to give them a bit of credit. Some good goals they scored. Sloppy defending from Newcastle. But I watch them some days and I think they look like a good team. and
then other days I just think they look average. M I don't know about you. No, no. I'm I like the manager. I think there's something about him. I think he's got a bit of character. I think he wants to play a decent style of football. They But they ain't I just don't know if they've got the squad of players to compete. Do you know like they sold Anthony Gordon, you know, the best players have left. Have they got any left? Tali's left. I mean, you've took two the two best midfielders out of your team. Do you think they've got any world class players?
World class. Lewis Hall. You think he's world class? I think Lewis Hall, if you put Lu Hall in Real Madrid's team, he's world class and he and I think he could play for Real Madrid. So, the only reason he's not world class is because he's playing for Newcastle. But if you took him out of Newcastle's team and put him in Real Madrid's team, he's well class, right? He's a world class. I think they need to sign some world class players quickly. I don't think they can. I think that's a massive problem for Newcasters. I don't Well, obviously the spending rules are hindering them massively, but they've got to somehow get some world
class players, whe they have to ship a few, but the fans are buzzing. You know, there obviously they've always had big support. The town's ready to go, but um they can't keep losing your best players. and you're trying to build, you're trying to build. Newcastle is trying to build to become one of the best teams in England. Um, and if you keep losing your best players, you're dismantling really. You're not constructing, you're dismantling your team. So, uh, I know people don't want to hear it, but losing Isak, it was a massive blow for him.
Yeah, of course. You know, because you could work out, I think he like I mean, the goals he scored and assists he got playing for him. Um, and he left under a cloud, didn't he? saw nobody like saying anything nice about him, but they miss him. Yeah, definitely. I think they'll be disappointed tonight. It's golden, isn't it? Can you sort this table out in the break? I am not in charge of production. All right. I am not in charge. I The only thing I can come up with is stuff that goes in the frame.
I can print out pictures of That's disgusting. Being a coward. That is disgusting. If the mics don't work, the earphones don't work, and the table's squeaky. I mean, can I just tell you something? Cuz you won't realize. I played against Kandi. What do you mean? I played against him, but you won't realize. 5 foot 10 playing center off in our era. You got to be good. Kundi is not 5 foot 10. He is. No, he's 6 foot. He's not 6 foot. He is. Kundi's tall. He's not. I'm 5'10. He's There's no way he's 6 foot.
Kundi is 6' a chance. He's over six foot. I think he's 5 foot and he's playing center off in the Premier League in our era against Mick Artford, Billy White, Allan Smith, Ian Wright. He's playing against players like that. Did you play against him? Yeah. Was he any good? Clever. Yeah, good. Don't Why you lying? Why you laughing? Don't underestimate Kundi. No, no. I've seen clips of Kundi and he's actually all right. You got to be good, isn't it? I mean, look, he played for Chelsea, right? play for Tottenham. He's obviously had ter he had terrible injuries, but people actually say to me
he was actually a very good center off. Well, but you played against him. Did he score? Obviously, but I felt sorry for him at times. I just kept it down to two or three. No, but if you if I asked someone now, one of the youngsters in the office, what position do you think Kundi played? You'd never say center half, would he? The office he's not big. You work with Kundi. He's not big, is he? He's 6'2. He's Well, he's gone. You've put two inches on. You just He's 6'1, right? He's His four heads 4 foot2.
He's not 510, 5'11. No, he's not 510. Anyway, he's guff and he's a coward. Uh, and I'm going to slaughter him when I see him. That's for sure. That he's missed the worst week of work ever. I don't think he's a coward. So, just to get that right, I never brought that in. You were saying he's a coward, not me. Well, he looks like he's good lad. Everyone's been trying to find out where he is. Um, talk to Steph McCarthy. Just caught up with Toffy's boss, David Moyes. Let's have a listen.
David, what a result. How pleased are you with that and the performance tonight? Uh, no, I'm really pleased with the result more than anything because of uh like yep, want to win the games and in the cup competitions is about winning. So, we got the result and got through. Hayden Hackne in starting tonight. First goal for the club and an amazing night for him. How much did he impress you tonight? Well, Hayden's come out the championship as I keep saying and I've had many of them and I bring them through at the right time and when I think they're right. So, uh I thought for a long period he done well, but I still think he's got another step to go to get round the Premier League sort of level what we're after.
So, maybe just a minor headache ahead of Monday. In what way? In terms of team selection. I mean, he's he played really well tonight. No, no, I'll think about it when I'm ready. You know, who knows how things are. Need to go through the players, get them recovered in the next few days. But uh but obviously we've got to play Newcastle again and uh you know we're we're not shouting about it tonight. We're thrilled that we're in the next round of the cup. Uh I see Premier League points is vitally important and uh we'll we'll go to St.
James's trying to win the game if we can. And just finally from me I have to ask about Jack Greish who's left out following a breach of club discipline. Can you explain what happened? No, that's for the club to explain. And will he be available on Monday? I would never give any availability regarding team talks or the team players or squad. So no, thank you very much for joining us, David. He beat that one away pretty quickly, didn't he? As for the club to tell you, he said, "Well, what can he say?" Cuz obviously something's gone wrong in it.
He's either not turned up for training or he's been somewhere he shouldn't be. Something's happened. So yeah, I don't even really want to talk about it cuz I love Jack. I mean, he's such a talented footballer, but if he's let himself down, you know. Well, let's wait and see. Yeah, let's say nothing until we know. He's innocent. He's innocent until proven guilty. But he is guilty because he didn't play tonight. So, we don't know whether it was we don't know what's happened. Yeah. Hopefully an injury or I want to see him back playing football cuz I love him as a footballer. Uh let's go to some calls though. Brian, he's a Newcastle fan. Bri, hey, Bri.
Hello, mate. How are you Bri, how you feeling? What? Um, I'm I'm sad, but it was a bit embarrassing, was it? Well, yeah, it was a bit. You weren't great. Everton ain't great either, to be honest. No, that's the thing. Um, all the teams were beat off recently. They're not great teams really are. So, we're not doing very well. So, what do you think's wrong? Manager. What's he doing different to Eddie? How then? I don't know. Like, we spent money in the summer. He's playing players that we've had for years. Do you know what I mean? Twice something new. He seems to struggle with the Premier
League in my opinion. Yeah. I think like Eddie How come through the divisions, didn't he at Bournemouth? And if you're not playing well, he found a way out to make you can't compare Yela to Eddie how yet. No, what I mean is Eddie How would he knows how to make you solid and spoil a game of football. If he needs to spoil a game, he knows how to do it. Yeah. Um, and he knows how to get like sort of average players into a organization where there are to be. Um, so I think he used to lean on that now and again, lean on it. And then he got Isizak banging goals and then they
turned into a bit more of an open up and team. And you keep losing your best players. Yeah, Bry, you have lost your best players. You have lost your best You've lost your best players. I literally, but the players were bored. I sat on the bench. So yeah, I know. Give them a go instead of bringing them on when we're 3 down. Yeah, but he probably wants to play them at the weekend. No. Well, it's No, we lost him. Sloppy goals. Sloppy goals tonight. They switched off, you know, for the when Dbury got fouled.
Was it the second goal? Yeah, I think Lewis Hall looked at the ref and he's let Barry turn and square him up where he could have just kept him facing the touch line. just switched off the two of them and the lad sneaks in at the back force for a tapping. Um and the other two goals were like from Newcastle's point of view was sloppy defending. Yeah. Everton though from their point of view they look sharp. They've got some good night for Everton but Newcastle I can see why Newcastle fans are annoyed, right? Because you want them to that's a great they must have looked at that game tonight and like right we get through this. We've got Fleetwood in the quarterfinal and look fair play.
Hard to play. Yeah, you right. You're thinking right, Fleetwood, fair play. They beat Arsenal, but you're going to back yourselves to go and beat them. You're talking about semi-final. You know, you're almost there. Have you got any jump leads? I know for him. Right. Listen, mate. Thanks for your call. I'll go. I'm going to go to Adam who's a Newcastle fan. All right, Ed. Hi. Ed, what's going on matey? What's happened? Oh, honestly, I can't honestly I can't I love this manager personally and the squad have just been letting him down to be honest. I think Do you love him? I mean, why would you
what's he shown to say that you love him? Uh well, I think he's just got a bit of personality about him. I mean, yeah, he's using the 4231. It's It's just not going well at the moment. But the squad have just been terrible. I mean, inside 20 minutes tonight, we could have been two or three in a lot. Yeah, you had chances. Yeah. So many chances on just go, mate. Well, how do you think Whizzer's doing? Oh god, don't even get me s Liverpool Spurs unreal. Don't Don't get me s Who's that in the background feeding your lines? There's someone in behind you feeding your lines, mate.
He's going Liverpool and Spurs coming up. Have a go, Jamie. We heard you. Yeah. Yeah, we heard you, mate. We heard you. Come on. Are you Sunderland? No. I know you have a tune for a tune doesn't sound like it. Listen boys, I have a tune. Boys, where do you go in terms of what's this club going to do? Where you going this season with Yo? Because people are going to start saying that you want him out. That ain't going to happen. I haven't got a clue. It's a transition season, isn't it? I mean, I mean, he's got to tactics first of all. The 4231. I mean, we've been bad in multiple away games now with that. Um, but because we just
get overrun in terms of counterattacks, that's what they both their first two goals came from really, especially the second one. The second one, the defend the defendant in terms of Sunday and tonight are just night and day. No, night and absolute day. Well, I mean, in January when the transfer window open, I think Newcastle have got they've got to try and make some signings. They've got to somehow even if they have to sell a few players, I just think Well, we were just not sell any more players, D. Well, sell everyone. Well, no, just they've got a lot of they've got a lot of decent players, but not many worldclass players and the fans now expect them to be in the top six. today. Do you expect him to be in the top six? Of course.
Um, no. Not top six this season, though. I think it's Conference League this year. It's great. I think Yeah, it could be. We're looking for top 10, but at this moment, oh, it's a bit of a struggle. I mean, you're struggling. You're struggling for goals. Revenge. You're struggling for goals. We need in both ends of the field, Jeremy. both ends. See, Whiz Whizzer started the season off all right, didn't he? And um yeah, but like then again, he's still not offering the goals though. Like you can see he started well, but he's just he scored one goal, you know what I mean? No, you if you center forward struggling, no matter what league you're in, if you center forward struggling, you're in trouble.
Yeah. Big night for Everton. Poor one for Newcastle. Have your say. Let's go to Graham. He's a Newcastle fan. All right, Graeme. Hi, Greg. Oh, hello mate. How you doing? I'm all right. Graeme, um, how you feeling tonight after watching that? Uh, a little bit dejected to be honest. We come here with good hopes tonight with obviously a free ticket to the semi-final if we got through against Fleetwood.
Yeah. Well, I mean, a bit harsh on Fleetwood, but yeah, I hear what you're saying. Yeah, you weren't terrible, but Well, we're very sim We're very similar every game. We come out the blocks. We're pretty good at the first 20 25 minutes. loads of endeavor without really creating any quality and then once the other team seem to get to grips with it we then struggle from there on in and as soon as Newcastle break down we're just so open on the break. Yeah, you are open goals in left, right and center. You are open same every week and it's not difficult to see what's the problem then mate?
Is it the manager? Is it the players? Well, it's it's it's a combination is it? But the managers have got to be a little bit more certainly away from home. You got to be a little bit more defensive and stay in the game and stop letting goals in left, right, and center. You can't go gung-ho. We did it against company trying to be clever. Four and five men up in the front line. And we're just so open as soon as you lose a ball. We're not Manchester City. We're not PSG where they can keep the ball forever and dominate the team and hold them back and we try to do that. Lose the ball and we just get murdered on the break because we're not good enough. It's obvious.
Yeah. Any fan can see that. Yeah. You try and get the balance right, don't you? You try and get the balance between attacking and not being wide open. I kind of like the manager though. I don't know. I think he's all right. Looks wise technically. Well, he's Well, I mean, listen, he's you know, he's he knows he looks good on the sideline, of course, but I don't know. There is something about him. I don't know. I remember watching his teams, you know, in the past in Europe and he was he played some good football like they were attacking and where Salsburg and Saudi when did you ever watch them?
No. Yeah, but there honestly Ssburg I watched them and that it was all right mate. Yeah, but there's a line I'll give you the one extreme is an ball when an was playing all out ridiculous high line all out attack and then the opposite of that was Conte. Well, Conte was the opposite, wasn't he? Where you had Harry Kane 25 yards in his own half, everyone behind the ball, brick. So, you got to get somewhere in between that where the balance. Yeah. And uh you're getting caught and the manager because he's never worked in the Premier League, you get in the Premier League, you get punished.
No, you do. You come up against a David Moyes Everton, right? You know what you're going to get. Exactly. You know what you're going to get. And that's But don't you want to You kind of got to stick with him, Graham, though. You don't want to have like a merrygoround of managers, do you? Well, you know, you don't, but like the Premier League is brutal, isn't it? How long do you leave it and all the rest of it? And what I sort of the Premier It's It's wide open this year. Every couple of wins, you're in the top five or six at the minute. Couple of defeats, you're in a relegation battle. So, it's wide open. But I think with the summer that you had though, Graeme, right, my stats got shots conceded and goals
conceded are way down there at the minute. And that's that's worrying. I know. Yeah. All right, I hear you. But with the summer that you had, Eddie Hal left, right? He walked out, and then your best players left, your two best midfielders left. If you finish mid-table this season, I don't think that's the worst season in the world. No, it probably isn't. Yeah, probably right. Probably and that's where I think you'll probably be and I think probably any sense about Newcastle is what I would probably accept that now. You got to think what's also don't of course they don't want to accept that. But what's the future plan though, Jamie? What's the future plan for Newcastle?
I don't know. Because when the owners come, who some of the richest people in the world? Yeah, I know. I thought, well, Newcastle going to be up there. Yeah, I know. Challenging for the league and trying to win everything they enter. Yeah. And obviously the spending rules is so I mean, is it Graeme going by the rules? Yeah. What can Newcastle do now then? Graeme, you'll know more than us. Well, we can't do anything because we're bound by the PSR, the latest rules or whatever. We're we're strangled by that until you turn over gets anywhere near the top
guys which you're at because you can't touch the cartel. It's a cool shop as Simon Jordan has explained many times to be honest. Yeah, we could do what Man City have done. Villa and Bill are actually doing better than this at the moment because Villa really have got a worldass manager. They have Yeah, they have got Emryy's working Emry's working magic with what he's got, isn't he? It's just No, but Eddie Hal was I think Eddie Hal was, you know, trying to work magic. And I think there were times when they were brilliant. I really enjoyed watching Newcastle play over the last few years.
Yeah. With players he had. If you're constantly selling your best players, it gets to the point where everyone loses a bit of oomph. the fans, the club, the players, everyone just loses a bit of kind of like what where we going unai Emry Jamie we had the upturn obviously had to take over had three or four years of an upward trend and then it sort of plateaued and whatever has happened with Eddie what it's never quite sure from the moment like I said earlier as soon as EAC left it wasn't quite right and we had a season of sort not being quite right last year the intensity had gone and it's not quite sure whether Eddie's got sick of where we're heading with the players leaving
or as said he lost the players a little bit somewhere in between all that and you can just see that it's descending a little bit from then and now we're obviously nowhere near any other position what we're in 18 months two years ago Graeme let's hear from your manager Matias Yasler now he's just been speaking to sports de McCarthy Matias obviously a disappointing result but did you think the score line reflected the match you saw tonight uh no unfortunately uh it didn't reflect um the match But it's about having the right result in football. Um, and today we couldn't uh achieve that. I think the performance was uh in many aspects and in many phases of the game good. But when it comes to being efficient and
that counts in both boxes, we were not good enough today. We allowed the opposition to score three times out of I think three or four chances in total they had. And uh these chances were led by individual mistakes from our side. So we gave them gifts which uh is on that stage and on that level of football um not acceptable and on the other hand we had many occasions to score many bodies in the opposition's box uh many yeah chances and you need to score more than only one goal. I can sense your frustration obviously with the three goals, three changes at Halime. Ju just one in particular I wanted to ask you about was Harvey Barnes. Was that completely tactical? What was what was the thinking behind the three
changes at Halime? Yeah, there are many aspects always taking cons consideration. Of course, we have also players who came back now who need game time who also bring fresh energy offensive wise, dynamic offensive wise in the game. uh Har was doing good in the first half. Um, of course, we also play on Monday again. So, it's also about uh something you need to Yeah. bear in mind. Thank you very much. Didn't didn't feel very uplifting that, did it? Well, I mean, dodgy question to ask a manager that. Why'd you make the substitutions?
He's entitled to say, "Well, that's just my idea, wouldn't he?" Yeah. He tried to answer it, didn't he? He tried to answer it. He said, "Well, he's got a game on Monday, but I don't think there were three gifts. The goals, a gift is like when you're playing out from the back in your own six yard box." Yeah. And you go, "Go on." That's you give him a goal. Yeah, they were good finishes still. Garner's great finish. You know, Barry's a good goal. And the f the cross for Barry from um what's his name from Leicester?
Um uh Jewsbury Hall. Jbury Hall. Uh that was a great ball. Cut back. Yeah. And he's had a good first touch and slotted it. Um the other goal where Lewis Halls let him turn, Barry turn, and square it across the face. Fair enough. But they weren't gifts. Still good finishing. Yeah. No, I agree. I think they'll be disappointed. Let's go to Allan. He's a Newcastle fan, right? Alan, are you there Alan? Alan. All right. Let's go to Robert. He's a Newcastle fan. Rob, how we doing, gentlemen? Evening. All right, Rob. I'm all right. Look, you've just heard your manager talking there. It wasn't the most inspiring interview I've ever heard. But, um, how
you feeling about the whole situation? Well, it's it's almost predictable, isn't it? I mean, it's just one step forward and two steps back. And it's almost as if that these players are, you know, like players like Willick and Murphy. We're f we're five years into a takeover with you know the richest donors in the world and we've still got the likes of Willick and Murphy taking up these spots. I don't know why yet he isn't playing the new midfield. It's you know they're just banging I think players like Murphy and Willlet where you know they'll have a decent performance a oneoff and that they're almost they're almost having their career at Newcastle off individual one-off performances. That's the only re that's the only
credibility they've got. I think the problem you've got is when a new manager comes in and you sign new players, right? We all know the Premier League is tough, right? The toughest league in the world. And sometimes players can take time to get going. And and what he's probably doing right now, Yicler, he's going with people that he knows have played at this level and is playing in the Premier League, you know, and he's going with the safe bet, you know, Willook to play and players like that to give them because you say, you know what, I can kind of trust them to get me a result. Yeah. Eight in the league, by the way.
The problem you've got is they ain't they're not they're average. Yeah. It's it's a it's it just highlights the thin, you know, unprepared squad that House ended up leaving behind. It's it's not none of them are good enough. Not I don't think any of them are. And maybe the slight exception of Lewis Hall tonight, but they're all passive. All of them. See what happens when you lose your best players like Gordon Isac and the two midfield players. Your team's made up of five normally five superstars. Yeah. And the other five are steady Eddies. Seven out of 10. When the superstars leave, you look at the five who are left and they don't look that good anymore.
Yeah. 100%. You know what I mean? Yeah. I know. Exactly. That's what he's getting at there. He's saying that the lads who be making the numbers up who doing a job. Yeah. They're all right when his playing. I remember when I was at Tottenham, Dino, right? And I was a steady Eddie, right? I was a decent player. I was in and out of the team. Great left foot. I had a lovely left foot. But I was, you know, bit I could play well. I was in the team. I could, you know, do all right. But we had stars. We had Robbie Keane, we had Defoe, you know, you had Modric, you had some top players.
When Robbie Keane left, he went to Liverpool, right? Berbat left as well. So you had Robbie Keane, Berbatov come out the team. Two like 40 goals minimum a season. They left. We brought in Pavleenko. The all of a sudden you are doing the same job, but you're not getting the same result. Do you know what I mean? Because you ain't got Robbie Keane in the team. You ain't got Berbatov in the team. Yeah. And all of a sudden you're thinking, well, I'm I'm kind of still playing the same. We're still playing all right, but we ain't got superstar up front. Do you know what I mean? We ain't got a top class finisher who's going to score a
goal out of nothing. Get us one n up. And before you know it, you start losing a bit of confidence. You start losing a bit of belief. You know, it gets harder and harder to score a goal. And then all of a sudden, you all look bang average. And that's what happens when you lose Issach Tali Gordon Garayas. I can narrow it down even better than that. I was when I was at Chesterfield chairman come to me and said uh Sam Clucas you know he's I've promised he can leave. So you know there's a couple of clubs sniffing around him and we he ended up he went to Hull City for 1.5 million. Yeah. I was gutted obviously and only just got there you know he's the best player. So the chairman came in and he went, "Uh, don't worry." You know, you know, he
said, "Just uh" he said, "Is it is there someone else you can find to replace him?" I went, "If you've got 1.5 million." Yeah. I said, "Don't expect the results to be the same, by the way." With it now he's left. Yeah. I'll give it that straight. The results will not be as good. Sam Clucas leaves a club. And you know, the chairman looks at me. Can you replace him? I find somebody out the youth team or something. And I went, "No, you need to replace a 1.5 million pound player, you need 1.5 million."
Yeah. Otherwise, he's not as good. Yeah. No, exactly. And that's the problem you've got, right? You know, some teams can find him like Brighton will continue to find them players, but it ain't easy. And Newcastle, you can bring in new players and you can go, you've got he's decent and why is he not playing him? Why is he not starting him? All right. Well, let's be honest. He ain't Tali. He ain't Garis and he ain't Isac. There's your problem. Yeah. And that's why Eddie How buggered off cuz he was like, "I've had enough of this." Yeah. And I feel sorry for Newcastle because you want to Newcastle a great club. You want to see him do well, you know, get amongst the cartel that everyone goes on about and they can't.
Hey, they're eighth in the league. Look positive, right? One result. You know, if Chelsea get beat and Newcastle win, they go up level with them or just above them. Is that true? Yeah. So, you know, they ain't that bad. No, they're doing all right. Yeah, they've been disappointed tonight. This feels like something's not quite right. Yeah. All right, we're going to find out whether Terra has been let back in the house. Apparently, he's uh we're going to get him on the phone again. 03 717234.
We don't have to sell this somewhere.
