Well, let's take a look at the final election results in Ohio. It may seem like the Chestnut State is painted red, but it was enough to turn a few places blue. Governor-elect Amy Acton's victory over Republican Vivek Ramaswamy means that a Democrat will hold the office for the first time in 20 years. Now Democrat Sherrod Brown has also won a seat in the Senate, defeating Republican Senator John Husted. It's unclear when the longtime congressman will be sworn in, but we do know: Under state law, Husted will leave office on December 15 because he was appointed, not elected. Brown will finish out the remaining term of J.D. Vance.

Ohio's Senate race has become one of the most expensive in the country, drawing more than $500 million in spending. About a year ago, we told you about Republican plans to redraw electoral districts in their favor across the country. In Ohio, Republicans took two seats from Democrats, or so we thought. Instead of three seats, Democrats will now represent at least seven across the state. The results in Dayton's 10th District have not yet been announced, but the Democrat is leading there, which would give Democrats a majority. One of the surprises last night was the 15th District, where Don Leonard defeated Mike Carey. Erin Simon works there The results of the 15th district are one of the most unexpected results of election night. Democrat Don Leonard defeated

incumbent Republican Mike Carey, but that wasn't the only shocking surprise this election night. We spoke to voters about their reaction to the poll results So, you voted Republican, but you're not too upset about the Democratic victory. Why is that? Because I don't know. It's just that maybe we needed a change. They are tired of the cost of living, tired of empty promises, tired of their problems not being seen. What do you think about how much " blue" won last night? Well, I think it's a lot of young voices, and probably not very knowledgeable voices.

Democrats gained four additional seats in the state legislature. The attorney general's office, a seat in the U.S. Senate, and the Ohio governor's office also became "blue." The congressional delegation is now tied at seven seats, with results in Dayton's 10th District still unknown. The Democrat is leading in this race as well. Voters in the 15th District are voting across party lines. Do you think Trump's influence has made Ohio so "blue"? Yes. Well, simply because of the mistakes he makes. I hope this isn't just a one-time event. But I know that before the election, the district leaned Republican. And the simple fact that Leonard won, I consider a positive. But then again,

this is a midterm election cycle, and who knows what will happen in 2 years. This may be the biggest shift in American midterm election politics since 1946. Ohio historian and author Chris Nichols attributes the Democratic shift to a crisis of affordability. Adding that the Democrats' campaign points were clear. They stuck to their line on accessibility. They didn't shy away from the topic of morality and decency in government, and what they were actually going to change.

Nichols says voters wanted change and elected candidates they saw as decent and different. And from a demographic point of view-new people, fresh blood, representatives of different strata of society, uh, different professions. There are many seminarians, pastors, and preachers among Democrats. Nichols notes that the results show how dramatically the political landscape can change, even in a state that has long leaned Republican. Reporting from your side in the 15th District, Aaron Simmonik, ABC 6.
