Why Ohio's Shifting Political Loyalty Could Signal Trouble for Trump and the GOP

Ohio has long been a reliable bellwether in American politics, but recent elections show a dramatic shift. After Obama won the state twice, Trump secured decisive victories in 2016, 2020, and 2024, raising questions about whether Ohio's political identity has fundamentally changed and what that means for future elections.

Has Trump Lost Ohio?. | Transcript:

Ironically, looking at the rise and fall of the Roman Empire can tell us a lot about what's happening around us right now. What do you mean? Well, I think the state apparatus has become too big. I believe our president is trying to figure this out. For over a century, Ohio has predicted the outcomes of American politics. Ronald Reagan wins Ohio, Ohio elects Bill Clinton. Governor Bush is the winner in Ohio. But Trump changed that. After Obama's two terms, Trump won Ohio by eight points in 2016, then again in 2020, and then by a crushing 11-point margin in 2024. Two years

later, on the eve of the midterm elections, we wanted to find out if Ohioans still loved Trump. So we flew to the most politically competitive region of the state and asked. Zoran, Donnie's mother. He is a great example of what we can get by voting for Democrats. I just go with the flow, watching what's on TV. I am a Trump supporter. My wife is so against abortion that if I voted for anyone who supported it, she would kick me out. We now conclude this video by asking a local Republican activist for his thoughts.

This is chaos. It seems to me that this is chaos. And also asking the local Democratic leader what his party has learned since 2024. What do you think of when you hear the term "wok"? But we started in the Cleveland suburb of Brook Park, where we met a Republican in a diner. Are you following the A little. It's obvious that Republicans there are in trouble right now. You know, I'm a Republican myself, and Trump is not helping this cause. I voted for him and thought it would change everything, but there is no change considering the prices of groceries, insurance, cars, and everything in general. Just as they said about

Biden, he seems to be completely losing his mind now. What do you think has changed? He wants to be the best in history. He's obsessed with this: renaming, construction, and damn it, all that crap. Let's be one family. Let's be a country of people who love and care for each other, help each other, and not divide on one side or the other. Ohio's seventh congressional district, which could determine who controls Congress. That's where the fierce battle for both House and Senate seats in the November midterm elections is taking place.

My motto: make the world more beautiful, yard by yard. It's like my little mantra. Helps me move on. I like it. Our goal is to show the world without prejudice and fear. Ovva. One conversation at a time. One. I really think this is a great philosophy. I just can't believe how much money is being spent on this advertising. And then Max Miller and Brian Poe Dexter, who was a drug addict. And Po Dexter tried to hide the evidence by swallowing crack cocaine. Dexter wants to go from a drug den to Congress. Are you voting? Yes, I haven't decided yet. Really.

One of our biggest issues, of course, is abortion. Typically, most conservative Christians vote Republican. Yes. Because Trump is pro- life, anti-abortion, conservative, moral, but I know there are many other issues to vote on. I would probably lean towards Republicans. Not Trump, but regarding the Democrats- some of their things just annoy me. Trump seems to have completely lost his mind. It looks like some kind of dictatorship. And again, I try not to dwell on it because I am focused on Jesus and what I can do today. That is, one day I won't vote. I don't discuss politics with my friends because they're ready to beat each other up. I'm just going with the flow watching TV.

I am a Trump supporter We drive around and see all these huge billboards saying that Trump is to blame for high gas and grocery prices. I don't think it's Trump's fault, because he made the comment about a month or two ago on YouTube. We said it was better than being at war. So, be patient. Do you understand what I mean? You wouldn't want to be there and fight those crazy people and all that crap Two years ago, this district was not competitive. Trump won here by 11 points, and Republican Max Miller by 15. Miller is now running again, but he's in trouble.

Max Miller's wife has a restraining order against him. The judge signed it. Court documents state that Miller beat her and held a gun to her head. Miller is accused of assaulting his ex-wife, who is also the daughter of Republican state senator Bernie Moreno. Moreno said that Miller, his fellow Republican, was unfit to serve. These allegations have made the race for the seat fierce and are helping his opponent, union activist and Bernie-backed Brian Poe Dexter. However, most voters seem to be concerned not with the candidates, but with two things: prices and Trump. And now, before we head to the mall and talk to the staff of

both sides' headquarters, a quick word from our sponsor. As you can see, Thibaut loves to eat. Hello everyone, I'm Billy. I am the third co-founder of ROA. I do a lot of work behind the scenes, because someone has to do it. But what doesn't stay behind the scenes is cat vomit. For a long time, Thibault could not digest food properly. And this is logical. Many of these brands use poor quality ingredients and deliver a poor product. So we started researching and found Smalls, a cat food that Forbes named the best overall. She adores him. I love it because we don't have to clean up after her every day. And most importantly, it is useful. We want her to be with us as long as possible. Who would n't want to? Smalls is made with 100% natural,

human-grade ingredients, the kind you'd find in your own fridge. It is 100% preservative-free, rich in protein and easily digestible ingredients, so you don't have to worry about vomiting. Your cat's health and longevity starts with what he eats. So to get a more diverse picture of the community, we need to go to the very heart of any suburb-the shopping district. How do you feel about the state of

affairs in the country? Honestly, I don't pay much attention to it. Things are expensive. This is what I notice. Well, the cost of daycare is going up, or let's say the cost of after-school care, the grocery bill is gradually going up, or the price of gas to get them to school. It's like, I'm not following, like, oh, who is this person? For example, I know who our president is and I am neutral about it. I have neither positive nor negative thoughts. Who is in the White House? He only cares about himself and his family. Does absolutely nothing for this country. He is a fraud. He is a con artist. He is a rapist. I am an independent voter.

I hope he leaves there and we get the country back on the right track. What do you think will happen in the upcoming elections? Well, if the Democrats win, then maybe we can balance the situation and contain him. He has many supporters. I don't know. It's like a sect. You know, this is ridiculous. But will you vote in the election? I am not. Who knows? He might find a way to take my vote, and who knows what else.

I don't think we're doing well. We have more wars now than ever before. I don't like the state of America right now. Will you vote? I always vote. You always vote. I always vote. What will inspire you to vote this time? State of the country. Things are not going very well for us. I feel fine, I think. Aside from the fact that the economy is spiraling into a deep abyss, I feel like I can't afford groceries or gas, but somehow we survive. That's what it is -America in terms of stores and everything else. I think everything is going to

hell. Yes. But in everything else, I think he's trying. When you can eat fast food for the same price as groceries, that's why more people eat out How has your grocery bill changed? Well, I can say that I spend at least $150 more than before. And there are four of us in the family. What do you do in that case? I like to snack, so I buy fewer snacks now. And fruits and vegetables are too expensive, so I only buy noodles and all sorts of things because it's cheaper. They want us to eat healthier, but you buy fruits and vegetables-and you spend almost 80

bucks just on that. In the neighboring suburb of Parma, people's opinions were equally divided. We are in Parma, Ohio. We are about 20 minutes from Cleveland. Everything has become very expensive lately. Gasoline literally skyrocketed. I'm saving fuel for my crappy little car over there. Now everyone is being fooled. And I think it took people a long time to realize that. We are not stupid. I would say many of us do, but most don't. It's like a big meme that all these Ohio campaigns are everywhere. Amy Acton drinks wine. No. The police caught her taking prescription medication. Missed COVID training because she tripped over the dog gate.

Sherrod Brown wants 12-year-olds to have their genitals cut off. And I'm like: wow. Now I was confused. Sherrod Brown does not support gender reassignment for minors. Irreversible surgery for children. I mean, I'm full of hope because I know Donnie got his big win. He is a great example of what we can get by voting Democrat. Do you think socialism is the future? I want to say that yes. At least my friend and I identify as democratic socialists. So you get the best of both worlds. I don't think many people are ready for socialism right now at least not in the name. People make the mistake of looking

only at the momentary state of the economy, when there is always a lag between past policies and their consequences. I think you're seeing the results of trying to undo old decisions and turn this ship around. What do you think about the situation with Iran? Um, you lose if you do, and you lose if you don't. Contrary to previous statements, past administrations knew they were very close to nuclear weapons. A nuclear bomb in a suitcase reaching the United States would be devastating. This would make September 11th child's play. You know, I hate to say it, but this country welcomes everyone up to a point.

The existence of the Muslim movement, it never ended well. your commitment to the idea of limited government. You have a "don't tread on me" flag. Are you concerned about the situation in Iran? This is Trump. Congress wasn't involved, right? Trump decided that we were doing it. They are not required to be involved. This is historical. This has been done over and over again by other administrations.

Obama did this very recently. Obama bombed and killed more civilians than Trump. But you won't hear about it in the mainstream media. Liberals, Democrats, globalists will raise these oil prices. And who benefits from Trump leaving office? To the globalists. On Newsmax, which I watch often, Carl Higbee had a great story last night about the price of a barrel of oil in relation to gasoline and diesel prices. There is a strong incentive to raise these prices to hurt Trump in the midterm elections, and all it takes is to take the House of Representatives.

This will block everything he wants to do for the next two years. So, you just retired from What do you think should happen in America right now? Well, I think what's happening now is outrageous and incomprehensible. I am completely against this. I know a person who was deported even though they were here with political asylum, and it's only because they have a whim or vendetta against a certain country that they are forced to leave. The entire regime currently in power must go. They are taking our money. Social security cannot be touched. Medicare and Medicaid. I have parents I'm trying to take care of, and they're talking about cutting benefits.

You know, it's just ridiculous. What do you think the future holds for left-wing forces? More socialist or more moderate? I think it should be more moderate. That is, I don't think socialism is the complete answer, and I don't think it will ever work. So, this shouldn't happen. But, on the other hand, we should not and cannot simply forget about everyone else. There are people who really need help. Now, in both places we noticed something. There were significantly more Democratic signs and billboards than Republican ones. The only Republican we saw campaigning was Kyle, who didn't really know who he was working for.

I'm not really interested in politics, to be honest. It's just work. I'm not even from here. I just came here to do this. Fair. Where are you from? From Florida. Yes. Did you come all the way from Florida for this? Yes. Who do you work for? Um, again, I don't know who this company is with, because to me it's just a job. But I think they're, um, Republicans. So, you're just handing out flyers here? I'm just asking people who they're voting for. Are they voting this year? Who are they registered to vote for? But many people don't want to talk about it.

I mean, I don't understand. A vote for Sherrod Brown and Brian Podexter is a vote for socialism. Open borders, dangerous streets, higher prices and billion-dollar tax increases. What do you think? How do you feel about the state of America right now? This is chaos. I feel like it's chaos. Every state is almost the same because they are all governed by the same government. Maybe they're different politicians or different people representing the state, but ultimately, I feel like they all represent the same chain of command, if that makes sense. So, how did you find this job? Um, actually thanks to a friend. I work a lot. I do construction and heavy physical labor. And he said, "Dude, I have something easier for you." So I'm still new here.

This is my first experience like this. So I'm still trying to get to the bottom of it. For a Democratic campaigner, this will be a different experience. To get to him, we drove to Bay Village, an affluent lakeside suburb. Here, people seem less politicized than simply fed up with power. Do you follow politics? Is this important to you? Both yes and no, at the same time. Republicans are much better at stimulating business. However, business development and population well-being do not always grow simultaneously from the same factors. And, unfortunately, our dollar is completely untied from the gold standard. It is tied to the

oil and gas market. And where do we find ourselves in the conflict? Right in the heart of the oil and gas market. But at what cost and for what do we do this? Are we just bombing random places to assert dominance and control? Are we trying to create an environment where people want to work with the United States? After all, our country has a debt of one and a half trillion dollars. We can't even I mean, look at it now. The interest rate for purchasing a home is over 8%. You know, this is nothing compared to the national debt. Oh, that's right. But that's a consequence of the same thing, is n't it? Because the more debt, the higher inflation, the more money

they print.I know, everything is more complicated. From a national perspective, we must create a product, service, or something of value. And we are working on it. We are competing for this with China, and everyone is fighting for this in their own backyard. This is a data center. We are promoting data centers at the national level to create the best AI technologies and sell them to other countries. I just want people to say this straight out, because it looks like a desperate attempt to save the country. What will people do in 15 years when every dollar of their taxes goes abroad instead of repairing roads and maintaining infrastructure and bridges? I think an uprising will begin. Who do we have? What do we have here? Wait,

I think her name is Brokeback Bonnie, the soul-sucker. This is Buzz Trixie. I'm watching. I haven't decided yet who I'll vote for. Usually at the local level I support the Democrats, and at the presidential level I support the Republicans, although not this time. But you know, it used to be like: "Oh my God, if you had a scandal, you can't run for president." And now it seems that you have to have a scandal to become a politician. I mean, the only politician I've ever liked 100% is Bernie Sanders. So, eventually, we met Tom Ryan nearby.

I am the vice president of the local Democratic Party club. My job is simply to find voters who will go to the primaries. That is, motivated voters, and providing them with information. We're trying to take over this place, well, from the reds to the blues. Why do you think people are turning away from Trump now? Yes. Because he didn't keep any of the promises he made to them. He lied to them about everything. He said: no more wars abroad, I will raise the economy, but it went downhill. He wanted to lower fuel prices. In Ohio, the big issue has always been NAFTA and free trade agreements, which have hurt us a lot. He came here and said, "I'll fix it." He didn't do anything.

People are simply tired of his rhetoric and empty promises that lead to nothing. Why do you think so many workers feel that the Democrats have abandoned them? I think it's because there are a lot of social issues and we've moved away from the main problems of life. People just want to be able to raise their families. They want good schools. They want accessibility. They want to have a job. They want their children to live better than they did. I think there are many issues that can distract Democrats from the main thing for good reasons, but for the vast majority of people, those four or five main issues are what determine the

outcome of the election, and they are what Democrats will win on this time. What you just said is obviously the main idea- to focus back on everyday things and move away from the emphasis on social topics to what is really important. Is this really possible? The Democratic Party's systemic problems that put it at a disadvantage to the working class. Pay attention to the scientific community, in many ways this is true. Yes, I disagree with that. Same-sex marriage was an issue that Democrats really championed. And you know, at first people were reluctant to intervene. But when people began to understand that this affected many in their lives, and perhaps it was worth

reevaluating their perspective on such issues, it ultimately turned out to be the right decision. So when you ask, can Democrats win by pushing some of these issues beyond the mainstream agenda? Of course they can. But I think they need to tie it to principles. What do you think of when you hear the term "wok"? I think it's just a general term that was intended. to be provocative. It was a term to provoke people. Um, it could mean anything. It's one of those vague words where "wok" means whatever they want to put into it, right? Um, I don't even know what that means, to be honest. I've heard it so many times that, um, I'm definitely not one of those people who

identifies with " wouk." Whatever it is, I think it's one of those words that doesn't make any sense at all. We visited Ohio for this page in 2024, right after the last election. At that time, the energy was mostly for Trump. Now that is definitely not the case. Despite this, she is not entirely for the Democrats. Moderate voters simply seem fed up with politics and hoping for a better economy. So, did Trump lose Ohio? In this wavering district, people certainly seem tired. Tired of war, inflation, and just plain politics. If you enjoyed this video, be sure to subscribe, because our next video will be about the same thing in Michigan.
