24 Hours in America's MOST HAUNTED HOTEL Crescent Hotel Room 218. | Transcript:

Well, good morning adventures. Good morning. As you can see, we are back in the good old US of A. Oh, shoot. We're back. That was awkward. We really wanted to have some kind of a spooky adventure this year. Yeah. So, we decided why not book ourselves a night in America's most haunted hotel. That's my spooky voice. It's better than this for my spooky voice, though. That is a lot spookier, actually. You actually sound like a little witch.

Like a little witch. We came to the Crescent Hotel here in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, which is considered by many to be the most haunted hotel in the entire USA. The history of this place is just nuts. There is so much that has happened here since it was first constructed back in 1886. It's changed hands so many times over the years. It's undergone several renovations and at one point became a fraudulent cancer hospital. So, needless to say, it is a hot spot for paranormal activity. There's been a bunch of investigators coming here over the years. In fact, over 17 paranormal investigation shows have featured the crescent, and people have captured tons of visuals like orb, shadowy figures,

and even full-blown apparitions. They say there's even a ghost cat that you can see roaming the halls at night. You guys know that we love us a little kitty cat. So, I don't care if it's alive, dead, or a little zombie cat. I'm petting it. And a few years ago, they actually found something very strange buried on the property. And ever since then, they say the paranormal activity has increased. Ooh, but we'll get to that later. On the range of like believer to skeptic, I'd say we're skeptics. So, do you think we're going to see anything tonight?

The little girl who used to watch Ghost Hunters, really hope so. But also, the little girl who was terrified by MTV's fear hopes not. Well, it's time to check in. And we are not staying in any old room here at the Crescent. We are staying in the most haunted room where most of the paranormal activity is said to occur. It is room 218, also known as Michael's room. All right, let the haunting begin. We'll be right back. That's the one thing you're not supposed to say. I said it. Bring it on, ghost.

Oh my god, you guys. It's the ghost cat. We found him. What if this really isn't a ghost? What? What if this is a full-on apparition? You said you'd pet him whether he was alive or dead. Now you just don't know. I know it's like a shorting your cat situation. This is it. The most haunted room in the entire hotel. Room 218. That's the one. Also, yeah, this place looks pretty dang haunted. But let's see what is behind door 218. That is if I can get into room 218. Wait a second. Two keys. Maybe one does. Ah, there you go. You just have to do the tap on. We both did that to each other. Oh, were you trying to do it? I was trying to do it to you.

Did that just close on its own? No, you closed it. Yeah, I watched. All right. Well, I don't love any of the artwork in here. They're setting the mood with these little creepy dudes all over the wall. Okay, so the room itself pretty basic, pretty small, very tall ceilings. It is uh creepy. I mean, there's something about it that just seems like uh you're going to be possessed. Is it the blood red roof or the blood red curtains or the blood red cover? Maybe it's THE BLOOD. OH, GOOD. OH, NO. No blood yet. I'm waiting. Like, I'm pretty sure at some point in the night the blood should be running down these walls, right? It also doesn't help that they have some of the creepiest

photos and artwork. I mean, that one is going to wink at me or something. For sure. He's staring at the bed all night. Yeah. And it's one of those effects where like everywhere you are in the room, it looks like he's staring into your soul. I might have to put something over that. That is creeping me out already. And everything has kind of like a uh rough around the edges. Like very rough vibe to it. Like all the paints just kind of slopped on. There's multiple different colors. They kind of clash. Look at the angles on this door. Like that is wonky as heck. Is that on purpose or did that just kind of happen? And then there is the bed. It is full-on creepy. This looks like the

last bed you'll ever sleep in. It reminds me of that scene from The Nightmare on Elm Street. I feel like it's going to suck me in and then shoot the blood all over the room. That's maybe one of the coolest horror scenes ever made in my opinion. So that's the whole room. And then over here you have the uh bathroom. Ooh, continuing with the blood red theme, of course. What do you think the odds are that tub fills up with blood? Oh no. Like in 13 Ghost, is there actually a girl in there with a knife? That is one of the most terrifying scenes I have ever seen.

I feel like we're going to be referencing a lot of scary movies during this video. And now all the scary stuff is starting to set in, and I'm starting to get a little more nervous. I'm going to get you before this video is over. This is how I'm going to go through the hotel now. Just eyes closed. Oh, this might be the scariest part. We got some mold up there. It's the silent killer. So, here in room 218 is where the bulk of the paranormal activity is reported in this hotel. It is a apparently a very active haunted room. It is called Michael's room and that is named after a guy who supposedly was working on the

original hotel in the late 1800s. He was an Irish stonemason and he unfortunately fell to his death and they say he landed right here on this spot. People describe experiences of being physically touched by something. They describe having strange emotions. And I haven't had too much of that yet, but when you walk in, the room feels kind of heavy. Like it I think I don't know if it's just the decor, but it feels stuffy and kind of creepy. They also report uh things moving on their own, drawers opening and closing on their own, and apparently people often see like impressions in the bed. So, we're going to have to keep our eye out for that because that could be pretty freaky. And I guess this is the

most popular room in the hotel because it is usually very booked up, especially in the month of October. Somehow we got lucky and one single night opened up and we jumped right on it. I got to say the balcony is the best part of the room so far. You guys, this view is incredible. Forget Eureka Springs is so hilly and nice. None of these sons of guns better get any ideas and come tapping on our window. God. But if you come here with friends and you know they're staying in this room, you can mess with them like good. Really good. Well said.

I don't know where I was going with that. These doors really do not shut smoothly. And stay in there, Michael. When we checked in, we got $25 in resort credits. You can spend it at the spa or at the salon. We're spending it at the bar. There's a restaurant up on the rooftop, I believe, with epic views. And you can get two tequila sunsets. Did I get you? You'll never get me, sir. Oh, I'm going to get you. I need to work on my scaring technique. I'm not very good at it. Well, we looked out and got ourselves a table up at the What is it? the Sky Crust Bar, I believe. So, we've got like

Twilight vibes out here, which is spookier than Sunset. So, I think we nailed it. What is not spooky, though, is the music they've been playing up here. They should be playing like Monster Mash and Thriller and stuff like that, right? Exactly. That's what I thought they would have on a loop. But maybe it would drive everyone crazy and then they'd have too many ghosts here. All the ghosts would be boogieing and the next thing you know, it's like a Michael Jackson music video all the time. We can't have that. We were just kind of exploring the hotel a little bit and uh we came back to our room and have our first uh slightly

unexplainable, possibly paranormal thing that happened. I'm not unconvinced that it wasn't just Eric. She thinks I'm pranking her. Yeah, cuz that's all he's been doing since we got here. Well, you guys know when I was talking about some of the stuff that happens in this room, they often leave uh indentions on the bed. So, what I did before we left is I smoothed this out. That's why it's all smooth right here. I went this way and it went dark and this way and it went light. It was perfectly smooth. And now there's all these this weird mark on it. Like this weird circle is like finger drawings. We did not do

that. I smoothed the whole thing out. You know, I want it to be smooth in case an impression appears. I was hoping to be more like a butt print or something, but it looks like a person went like this. Okay. So, we're going to leave it like this all night and see if there's another freaking impression in this thing. Is that guy did He's not doing anything weird, right? This whole room is starting to really creep me out now that the sun is down. No blood pouring down the walls yet. So, we stayed up too late last night to not be able to sleep tonight, you guys. I needed this sleep. I'm not going to.

Now, this is video number 127. We're about to leave the room again. I'm taking video or photo evidence that the bed is intact. There are no writings or fingerprints. This is how they do it in the movies, right? Or on the TV show. Yeah, exactly. I'm hoping that we don't see anything else because I'm already a little creeped out to sleep in here and I don't even believe in any of this stuff. Well, that's the best part of all this, you guys. We love scary movies because we don't believe in any of it. And it's just so much fun to see like the crazy stuff people come up with and now it's happening in real life.

We're living with the scary movies we always watch and we're like, "Oh, they're so silly. It's not real. Maybe it's real." So, it turns out they actually do ghost tours here at the Crescent Hotel. But, it also turns out that you're not allowed to film it or post any photos of it or anything like that. So, this isn't really going to work. So, we decided that we are going to do our own little ghost tour. And we are not going to use digital cuz that seems a little too modern. So, we're busting out the Polaroid. That is if I can uh figure out how it even works. Oh, we'll remember. That's what we grew up with, man. That is true. We are from the Polaroid generation, but we're also from the early digital camera generation. Now,

that was rough. All right. First test shot with the Polaroid camera. Maybe we'll just see a ghoul right behind you and we can just call this done. Here we go. You ready? Wo. That's a familiar sound though. Yeah, that just sounds right, doesn't it? You're supposed to shake it like a Polaroid picture. There's even a song about it. I think Andre 3000 lied to us. Yeah, the instructions literally say don't shake it. So, let's let's just leave it face down.

How many Polaroids did I ruin by just shaking the crap out of them? Many. Oh, she's a pretty though. Yeah, look there. We'll leave you guys alone with your tour. It's all right, you guys. They do daily and nightly ghost tours at this hotel as we mentioned and they were doing it right as I opened the door and I scared the hell out of everybody cuz that's the most haunted room in the hotel. There's like 50 people outside of our door. I opened the door and went, "Ah! Ah, investigation is underway. I feel like I already look like a ghost. You're dressed like a ghoul, man. I'm dressed like a ghoul cuz I'm wearing black.

We're taking a bunch of Polaroid photos, but I'm also just snapping a bunch with the phone because a lot of people, this is what you do. We walk around, take photos, and then they see little things every once in a while that are slightly unexplainable. No, that was a person. It was a human. It's all of us. You guys might be familiar with the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. We actually went there last year. I think that hotel was actually the inspiration for Stephen King's The Shining. But that hotel is very nice and polished. This one is not. It is much creepier, don't you think?

Like the ghosts there might be wearing fur coats and the ones here might be walking around with like an empty whiskey bottle or something like that. Look at these hallways. Is that just creepy or what? Hello, Eric. [clears throat] Come play with me. That's really creepy. Okay, now it's just dumb. But seriously, the carpets are all just kind of dingy. There's these subtle stains kind of over there, and it's got a creepy vibe. People in time have not been kind to this hotel is what I would say. Then you have corridors like this. You got a radiator, a weird old foldable bed that I'm surprised doesn't have blood stains all over it. Bunch of junk

back there. Cool. Since this hotel opened its doors in 1886, it has been in various states of disarray. It's been renovated over the years. It's changed hands multiple times. There was a huge fire that destroyed like a bunch of the top of the hotel. It's funny when you walk around everything seems like it's kind of quaint and charming, but if you look close, it's very rough around the edges. Like paint is slopped everywhere. A lot of the railings are really shaky. You guys saw there stains all over the carpet. The floors are incredibly uneven. The doors are all wonky. The place is like a fun house. But in spite of that, there really are some just super nice design elements. Um,

welcome to the Crescent Hotel, where you can check in, but you just may never check out. Oh, hey Lloyd. Mind if I get a scotch on the rocks? Thanks. The Shining. So, we've already told you how since its inception in 1886, this hotel has changed hands over the years, and there has been a lot of action here. But the most infamous owner is probably Norman Baker, who purchased this property in 1937 when it was in disarray. He bought the Crescent Hotel thinking it would be the perfect place to have his like cancer curing wellness clinic. I should put all this in quotes. This guy was basically a quack who was selling a

bunch of snake oil to a bunch of very desperate people who had cancer. He would advertise far and wide on the radio that if you come here, he has the cure for cancer. You just have to take his treatment and you will be cured. He had this concoction he would inject people with up to seven times a day that was supposedly going to cure them of their cancer. That was actually just corn silk, clover, ground watermelon seeds, and water. Apparently, one of the wings he had kind of patted and turned into a bit of a sanitarium, and the people who weren't getting better, he would just put them in there. And then there were rumors that he was doing crazy experiments on people in the morg and then he had secret tunnels

underground that he would cart away the dead bodies. I don't know how much of that has been substantiated, but a lot of people did die here. I think 44 total patients died in the 20 months that this place was operating as a cancer curing clinic. He actually did end up going to jail, but not for a single thing that he did here at the Crescent. It was actually for mail fraud. Oh, and I think I mentioned earlier about how they found some something weird buried on the property. And it was actually in 2019 and they found this whole cache of a bunch of old bottles full of his little miracle serum that he was injecting people with and a bunch of uh human tissue and tumors and all kinds of weird

stuff. And apparently if you do the ghost tour, you get to go to the morg downstairs and they put all that stuff on display. Since they put all that stuff down there, there's been a lot more paranormal activity in the morg. So they say Mr. Michael might be the most famous ghost here, but there are many, many other ghosts that haunt the Crescent Hotel. Theodora was a previous cancer patient who can be seen outside of room 419 fumbling for her keys or trying to tidy up the room when guests leave. Just down the hall from our room, you might smell some cherry pipe tobacco. And that would be from one Dr. Fremont.

John Fremont Ellis. I almost had it, y'all. He was apparently the doctor here in the late 1800s. Another famous ghost here was Morris, who was the general manager for 21 years. The best thing about Morris was that he was a kitty cat, and he was buried on the property, and he still haunts the hotel to this day. This, however, is Azie, the assistant to the general manager. It is about 11:00 p.m. right now, and uh there's a lot of activity at this hotel. Ghostly activity. Ooh. No, I guess it's very popular to roam around at all hours of the night and take a bunch of photos and hope you can find a ghost. So,

there's a bunch of people like they're over there hanging out with the cat and taking a bunch of photos all over. Oh, yeah. Everyone's like in corners taking pictures like up at the ceiling. They're videoing everything. Yeah. And I've been doing the exact same thing. Well, of course, cuz everyone wants to catch a ghost tonight. We are back in the room for the night. It actually got very late, you guys. like well past midnight. Oops. Just so you know, if you stay in Michael's room, your room will be the highlight of every tour. And they run maybe on the hour. So half the time we went to leave tonight,

there was a horde of people out there. [clears throat] Also, this hotel is not very soundproof. So just know that as well. Everyone can hear everything you're doing in here in the hallway. So when there is a tour, be very quiet or give them a show. I don't know. whatever you're into. And the great uh Polaroid experiment did not work out. It's very dark in this hotel, and you need a lot of light for these Polaroids to come out. So, most of them are just very dark. Although, I did get this really fun shot of Alison sitting on the bed, but so far, I don't see any ghostly apparitions in it. I do have a nice little shot of me being all pensive in the corner, sitting in one of those weird chairs, and the other ones

are just really dark and not super interesting. [snorts] I told you I was going to get you. I did get you, didn't I? Yeah, that was pretty good. I'm going to murder you in your sleep. I hope you know that. I've decided I do not want this guy staring at me all night. Where should we put him? Uh, burn him in a fire. Yeah. There's a bunch of creepy writing behind this. Nope. No. Everyone wrote messages behind this. Oh, that's awesome.

Well, they were Look at that. I guess everyone does this then, huh? Thank you, Michael, for a busy night. Thank you, sexy Michael. Nothing happened, Sonia. Thanks for the headache and touching me, Lloyd. 2024. Thank you, Michael, for waking me up at 4:00 a.m., giving me a headache, and rubbing my neck. What is happening in this room? Yes, no way that happened. This guy's just giving out free neck rubs. Well, that's pretty fun. But I think I'm just going to set Mr. Michael right down there so he can't stare at me while I sleep. or touch your head or rub your

neck. I hope that when the touching happens, I turn around, it's you and not the ghost of Michael. When the touching happens. Yeah. I just assume it's going to happen at some point tonight, right? All right, it's officially bedtime. Well, I'm a little bit more creeped out now that we read all those messages. Like half of them said, "Oh, nothing happened. That sucked." And then the other half were like, "I was touched and stuff went missing and you broke things."

Apparently, he steals people's underwear. I even overheard one of the guides saying that. So if you wake up and your underwear is missing, that wasn't me. I'd have to be some kind of magician to pull that off. Get it? It is way too late for these shenanigans. That was pretty good. Michael, you hear him? He's the one who needs to be touched and punished. Hey, if he wants to take my underwear, go for it. You know, it doesn't help that there's just like this blood red color up at the roof.

Okay, and with that, good night. Oh my god. Just kidding. We're just turning the camera off. We could leave it running all night, though. Huh? Oh, yeah. No, that's too much footage. No, it's too much. All right. Good night for real this time. Bye. Well, good morning. We survived. How'd you sleep, babe? I think he went to the other side. Yeah, the other side of the room. Well, it was a fairly uneventful night.

I guess I did hear a couple weird noises. I was like, "Wait a minute. What's that?" I felt the mattress getting pushed down and I was like falling into it and I kept trying to yell for you to tell you it was happening, but I didn't have a voice. So, that's why I think it's a dream. It really was a dream, right? I hope so. It felt really real. I had a dream of a little kid bouncing a ball, but that's one of the stories of the place that I read. So, I think it's all just in my head. Yeah. I was hoping we at least have an object moved or a drawer that was open a little bit, but nope, nothing like that. Just a fairly restful night's sleep. One kind of strange thing, we woke up to the uh

water not working at all. Does the toilet work? Yes, it does. That's peculiar. I mean, I'm going to chalk that up to an old building, right? Yeah. Right. All right, we're about to head out. Is there any ghosts who want to pop out and say hello? Now's your chance. Last minute hauntings. Michael, hello. Any apparitions in the reflections? What about in the TV? Nope. Just me, I guess. So far, we've had weird writing, the water not turning on, and he may or may not have been pushing on the bed and made me roll into a hole.

That one feels really real. I feel like I woke up really trying to talk to you about it, but it had to have been a dream, right? I mean, I don't remember anything. I guess we should have left the camera rolling all night, but I was like, eh, I'm going to say debunk, not haunted, but it's not like we really believe any of that stuff. So, yeah, not yet. I'd love to be proven wrong. Yeah, but I will say I never thought that I would be able to sleep in the most haunted room in the most haunted hotel in the US and actually get some sleep and I did.

Maybe the people watching will like slow down the frames and see some ghostly apparitions in the back. That'd be cool. If you guys do, let us know. Yeah. and we'll be long gone so I won't be terrified. A okay. Goodbye, Michael. Thanks for letting us stay in your room for a night. Bye. But we got to get the heck on the road. We may have left America's most haunted hotel, but the spooky fun is not over.

There's a cafe in town called Haunted Grounds. It's like a ghost themed uh coffee shop. Ghost. Oh God, I'm tripping on everything here. There is a big pole sticking out. I'm straight tripping. All right, continue. Uh, good coffee. More ghouls. I'm in. And what's cool is there is a path that goes from the crescent to town. Maybe we should have done this last night. Made it extra spooky. No, you would have tripped and met your demise out here. Then you would have had to stay here and haunt the place.

Oh, no. But the question is, when you die and haunt a place, are you stuck like in the outfit that you died in? What if you die and you don't have any clothes on? I guess that'd be pretty awesome. You'd be the naked ghost. Yeah, you'd be the top of the town. Just watch out for that ectoplasm. Get out of here, man. I think he might have had one too many coffees. All right, we got our spooky ice lattes. This is so spooky. Kind of look like regular old plain lattes. They do. Oh. Oh, I'm feeling something. Oh no. That was reminding me of that scene from Save when she's in the auditorium.

Oh yeah. I'm not going to say too much about the scene, but uh go check that movie out. But we are in the town of Eureka Springs, which we have visited before and made a two or three videos here or something back in the day, maybe more than that. Um so go check those out. It's been years, but it's a very fun place to come and visit. But anyways, I'm glad we were able to do something like kind of Halloweeny because we always want to do that, but we can never really think of anything. But it was pretty fun. No, I feel like we're always on the road and we never get costumes or anything in time. We never get anything planned. So, this I'm feeling like we're in the spirit.

We didn't have too much paranormal activity, but uh maybe you'll have more luck if you go and stay at the Crescent Hotel and have the guts to stay in Michael's room. Maybe stay a few nights. Maybe he just was getting warmed up. You know, tonight was going to be his big thing. Or maybe weekend. Maybe he gets rowdy on the weekends. I don't know, maybe he's just socially awkward, just like us. Goodbye, adventures. We'll see you on the road.
